I have seen it too. I also seen the bad angles to the ball too. Really makes it baseball now. I also like how on pop up you have the the right players try to make a play on the ball. This game just oozes baseball.

Indeed! All those things are so noticeable over last year, that I am baffled when people say "nothings changed".

Fielding is night and day better. I love it!

I'm actually kind of mad at the official scorer for not making it a triple. The CF (Marlins, don't remember his name) slightly overran the angle to left center, went to barehand it and it went a couple feet by his hand towards center. I looked at the replay to see if he got caught in some kind of weird animation, but nope, just didn't take the right angle.

The improved/more realistic fielding was the primary reason I decided to get 11. I wasn't impressed with the demo initially, but after playing it again and noticing how much fielding had change, I thought that, in addition to the other changes, was enough to make the upgrade.

              Indeed man, indeed.

This year, it feels like you have to actually work at fielding. And make sure you make the right routes and jumps to the ball. And the CPU play on it is so much more improved.

Yes, the penalties for not setting up your throws properly are refreshing.

You can really feel the pressure this year when there's a speedster flying towards first. One mistake and he's beating anything not hit sharply on the left side out. Just how it should be.

Yep I was using the Rangers vs Boston earlier. crawford hit a grounder to 1st young picked it up cleanly but then then had to rush back to the bag and at the last second he slid towards first. crawford still beat him out by the way.

I didnt see that one last year very nice animation

After playing around more with it, RTTS and Franchise mostly, the load times are atrocious. I hope a patch can shorten these some.

Damn this game, it can be so mean sometimes! Been playing on All-Star since the demo and doing fine... suddenly though I can't hit for **** and am getting rocked pitching. Bumped down to Veteran... still getting my butt whooped.

Sigh... season just started and I'm already in a slump.

I started on rookie because I have never been good with the sticks. 1st game I pounded 20 hits with 6 HRs and won 12-2 so I bumped it up to veteran. 1st game on veteran I got 9 hits but only scored 1 run and lost 5-1. 2nd game on veteran I again pounded 17 hits with 6 HRs again winning 14-2. I thought about going to Allstar but thought I did lose my 1st on veteran so I decided to give it 1 more game. Next 2 games on veteran 3 hits each game with only 1 or 2 runs each game.

Just when you get all high on yourself and think this is easy the game humbles you!

Just had an amazing game up to the 7th inning then quit to watch the footy. Also i quit when i think its in the bag lol only an exhibition game.

Mets vs Indian i was the Mets. Asdrubal hit a homer off me in the 1st inning. I couldn't get a hit until the 3rd and it was only 1 hit lol. Orlando Cabrera i think it was hit a triple but i was able to stop the run. Then they got a double and then sizemore doubled and i was down 2-0. Then Shin soo choo hit Sizemore home. Down 3-0 in the bottom of the 7th. I went on fire.

Had about 2 hits up to this point. Up in the count 2-0 with Reyes i went for the bunt. I got on base. Pagan was up 1-0 0 outs so i thought i'll bunt again to get Reyes at least to 2nd. The 3B couldn't make a play on it as he thought it would go foul it did not. From then i got Reyes home. Then i went to 2 outs. Runners at 1st and 2nd and i drew a walk. bases loaded i got another walk. I went up 3-0 on that count and had no intention on swinging lol. Score is 3-2 bases loaded Luis Castillo up who was 0-2 with a Strikeout. First pitch fastball down the middle. Hit into right field i thought i had a Grand Slam but it bounced off the wall and he got a triple. I quit then and the score was 5-3.

Throughout that game i thought there is no way i can get a run. but with a few bunts and a bit of luck i got 5 lol. Gotta say the Mets have a speedy team. Speed throughout the lineup.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread

So after playing for a few days here are my impressions:

Analog controls for pitching and fielding at first was kinda on the fence. After playing a few games, I love it! simply put its so much fun.
As ive posted on another thread, this year you really need to know how your team plays. Need to know where to play guys and how to control them.
I really liked 2k's pitching system from last year so this year when I tried the show pitching, it turned me off, that is until I started to understand it.
Yea I walked in back to back runs and got lit up for a 10 run inning but im still learning. And again, u need to know your players!

Tried, really, really tried analog batting but couldnt do it. Button timing batting is still challengin for me and yields great results.

The menus and new screen layouts give the game a fresh new much needed look. Loving it!

Graphics. Amazing! This is a close to next gen videogame baseball as its come. They have really tweaked the movement of the players. They move a lot smoother this year than they ever have.
                              Everything seems to flow perfectly.

Commentary is still a sore spot. Karros is a welcomed addition for me. He adds a touch of freshness to the game, not the team, but as far as this year goes I can put up with it.

Im loving this years game so far much more than ive enjoyed 10.
I think their focus next year besides tweaking and making analog even smoother, is most definitely commentary.

                              Thank you.
We play today, we win today, das it!-
