Hmmm, the minute wait between loading and getting back to the screen in RTTS becomes very tiring when you're only brought in for a 30 second appearance.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
We need a Manage only Mode Challenge of the Week.
My first foray in my quest to crush 42, Nem and anyone else O.S. related didn't go so well....I think I had like 500 points.
I'm getting there though!

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
This game is owning my every thought at the moment. I'm sleep deprived from playing this game so much the past few days and I have a very cranky girlfriend at home still attempting to understand my obsession with this game. It truly has taken over my soul!
I've been playing HoF regularly, mostly with the Nationals in Franchise mode where I'll play as different teams just to get a feel for different players, etc.
I decided to step into a BOS/OAK game and boy was I in for a treat batting with the Sawx! AI pitches that lineup so much differently than the Nationals lineup - I wish I was a BoSox fan because playing with that team is just plain fun. Every guy in that lineup can hit the ball hard and over the wall. I don't remember seeing such a discrepancy between top tier and lower tier teams - it was really hard playing a Nats gamer afterward. I love there is a noticeable difference between the two teams.
This plays a very fun and enjoyable game of baseball.Comment

I was not sure where to post this...
Playing with the Dbacks, the announcers refer to Gibson as the manager of the team. Yet I'm still seeing AJ Hinch in the dugout still managing. How does that happen?Comment

Back to the game, When playing in the rain my outfielder when to grab a pop up and the rain made him not catch it and it fell behind him. Rain is brutal to my defense but it looks so damm good in this gameLast edited by Giants4Natic; 03-12-2011, 12:01 AM.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I actually just won my first game using the Padres (with the camo for the trophy) hosting the Astros. 3-2 final score. Didn't hit much better in that game, but I hit when it counted, I guess. I'll take what I can get.
Noticed a glitch where the in-game box score (the overlay between innings) didn't count the errors. It was fine in the main box score though. I hadn't noticed that before. It may a one time thing or it may be that it's been doing that and I simply didn't notice. Anyone know if that's a regular occurrence?Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Does anyone agree when I say the control of the fielders should be ,ore "snappy"? It feels like they are too laggy..or like...slow when I try and move them. And I still get sucked into the wall...also whats up with the outfielders just lobbing the ball in even when I hold the button?

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
So...
Either this game is a bit harder, or I'm a bit suckier (it's probably both). I flat-out can't hit for crap with the analog controls. I have moments where I string together a few nice ABs and am like "hey...I think I've got this." then I strike out 4-5 times in a row and blame the R Stick for all manner of sins. For someone who has always hated analog hitting, it's surprisingly addictive and fun (despite my massive amounts of suck, of course).
Pitching is amazing. I love how you can manipulate the meter and work my pitches with the analog controls. It's my favorite addition bar none. I'm actually good at this part of the game and have actually considered bumping this part up (but not until I use my All Star pitching prowess to mask my abysmal hitting and secure my first win).
I love all the fielding upgrades. Analog throwing feels smooth enough, and I feel like I have much better control on my throws. I've gunned down several runners from the OF already and it feels so rewarding using the new system. My only gripe is that the way it switches to be camera relative for the catcher on snap-throws or to throw out the runner feels counter-intuitive. My instinct is to go towards the direction of the base from my view, but you have to go by the catcher's view as it switches as soon as you opt to throw. It's minor, of course, but I wish it didn't do this.
Camera editor is awesome. I've found a batting View I love (Wide, lowered most of the way down, and then zoomed in some) that makes the players look great and allows me a nice view of both the atmosphere and the strike zone. I've never had an issue drawing walks, but even so, it feels even better this year.
The game is beautiful and plays silky-smooth. My only gripe for visuals is the game seems over-bright this year. Whites are scalding my eyes...lol. This is the same TV and same settings I played MLB 10 on, so I'm not sure what's up. The game has always popped visually, but it almost seems over-saturated this year IMO.
I've now played 5-6 games on All Star everything and have lost every game. I finally thought I had my first win during my last game, but surrendered a 2-run HR to Jorge Posada in the 8th and lost the game by a run (Shut up Brett).
I swear I used to be pretty good at this game, but if nobody believes that, I won't be offended as I'm not even sure I believe it anymore. Thanks SCEA, you've crushed my spirits.
In all seriousness though, aside from a couple minor issues with the Player Vault and Sounds of The Show, I've not run into any problems and am having an absolute blast getting my *** handed to me each game. So, I imagine once I actually relearn how to play and win a game or two, it'll feel awesome. Great work SCEA-you've nailed down baseball once again IMO.
I haven't got deep into any modes yet, but I look forward to it once I get some of my roster work and CAPs done. Can't wait! (don't sue me Bart!)
I'm determined to get this Analog hitting down. I was struggling with Fielding and Pitching, but after spending time in Practice mode, I've got Fielding down (no errors my last 2 games, woo hoo) and since abandoing the API (I have it on default now so if I ask for a pitch location, I'll get it, but otherwise I'm on my own) I've really come into my own on the mound.
I've been on All-Star from the outset, but may have to go down to Veteran for hitting until I become more consistent. I will say that with the Analog hitting, I find that I'm taking a lot more pitches and working the count better than I have in the past, which is a good thing.
I also agree with you on the color; it's almost too much at times. I turned down some of the color, brightness, contrast settings on my TV and that has helped. I'm really digging the dynamic lighting for night games and the shadows creeping in during day games is really cool. The stadiums look amazing and the player models are a huge step up from last year, and I thought that game looked great.
This game is an absolute blast, and I haven't even gotten into Franchise or RTTS yet. I figure once I get a handle on hitting, I'll make that move but for right now, I'm enjoying taking my lumps and trying to learn the new control scheme.
Ramone, you were right about the Analog hitting humbling us. But, when you connect and hit a HR or even a solid gapper, it's just so rewarding and that is what keeps me coming back to Analog instead of just giving up after a bad game and going back to Timing.
BTW, if anyone wants to play Online or just see how bad I'm doing on the Ticker, send me a FR over PSN.Currently Playing:

I'm not sure what mode you're talking about here, but you really have to know where you're going before you make the move. You can't just change the fielder's momentum in a split second.Comment
