Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread

First baseball game since the show 08 for me.

I dont think I have ever played a sports game more satisfying in my life, I mean its not even close.

At first when I tried the demo I scoffed at the analog controls, but I decided to give them a fair chance and I am very impressed, wont be using anything else now.

Hitting a HR with analog feels soooooooooooo good! Hit a 400ft slam with Howard tonight, couldnt stop smiling!

Just when I was complaining not enough injuries in the game... Jason Bay hurts his knee sliding into third lol. Yea that's what I need starting the season 0-5, losing Bay for a month lol.

Anyone seen the CPU hit and run? Haven't seen it in regular play or RTTS.

Seen it with Rollins and Philly when I used Houston.... and got whupped. Utley hit 2 shots in the game and Oswalt, of all people, hit a double.

Have a bad tendency with OF play cause I run to where the ball should be and miss it.

I never complain about this game and I won't now but I had to let out a little frustration. Again I emphasis that to me this is the best sports video game ever made! That being said, I had an awesome game last night, back and forth battle with the Sox. I was down 7-5 in the bottom of the ninth. Double off the monster with 2 outs and runners now on second and third. A-rod comes up and blasts a double into the right-center gap. Whoohoo, game tied 7-7.

Pitching dual for the next 12 innings, yes 12! Two outs bottom of the 21st inning and Cano hits a no-doubter walk off. I never jumped so high in my life. Woke up the wife, she gave me the look and went back to bed. Anyway, to the highlights it goes (oddly it cut off the highlights at the 19th inning, didn't get to see my walk off). Well after that it goes to the save highlights screen I hit no and......wait for it....FREEZE!!!!!!!! SON OF A Bit*h! was not the exact phrase that came out of my mouth but you get the point.

I have never had the Show freeze on me for any reason at all. So for this to be the first time it was quite a disheartening experience. Oh well, guess I get to play that game again, hopefully it only takes 9 this time.

EDIT: forgot to add I was the Yankees, using fenway park as my home field (hadn't seen it yet)

WOW!!! The best game ever got ........EVEN BETTER! Analog hitting adds so much realism to the art of hitting. The "Load" is such an important aspect to hitting and they nailed it with the pull back to "load" and push forward to let it fly! Analog pitching and fielding is also phenomenal! Great Game!

                        wow. what a game.
I wasnt going to get it, but I bit the bullet. I cant believe the people that say its version 10.5.
Over the years I have slowly stopped watching and playing baseball, but playing this game is so fun and realistic its scary.

I only hope for next year or maybe in a patch this year they fix how the camera cuts away too quickly after contact is made. They went through all the trouble of adding like 40 camera behind the pitcher, but not one of them stays long enough to follow the ball after immediate contact. Personal preference there.

The camera issue, no fictional player fantasy draft, and no create stadium knocks this down to a 9.8 for me.

Hopefully I can get back up to year 2032 quickly as its where i left off in mlb 10

Roy Halladay's curveball is nasty! It looks sooooo hittable then just drops off the table. He has struck me out 10 times in 5 innings. I just can't lay off of it.

Honestly I think fielding is the biggest improvement. I have had balls fly over my head and spin me around, robbed HR's bounce off the glove, and even had my guys over run the ball.

The throwing system is OK (I loved MLB 2k8's), but the mechanics of fielding feel the best.

Also I love the menu. Much more lively. It makes the game feel so much more fresh. The stadiums/day night progression also are great.

ARod seems to be more of a beast in this years game then last years.
NFL - Dallas Cowboys, MLB - NY Yankees
NBA - Knicks, NHL - NY Rangers,
NCAABB - St. Johns Redmen (Redstorm)
