it shows there after each pitch i think it takes the place of the present ball/strike count, then disappears after a second or two.
Yea it only shows it when you have simple pitch call out enabled. I always have that off because I do not like to have icons after the pitch lands in the catchers mitt.

If simple or full is there then it shows the MPH but if you turn it off then the score section on the top bar does not even show the mph any longer

Yea I guess but that requires me to turn on the pitch info which I like to keep off. I like to have no icons popping up on screen as possible.

I just thought I was missing something when the mph display was not there just because I put the pitch call out to OFF

Unless I'm misinterpreting what you're saying, I have pitch call-out set to 'OFF' as well. Pushing down on LS is basically checking the CPU's PCI when you're pitching - it will show the location (yellow dot), pitch type and speed.

No you are right. I just do not have pitch info on which is what needs to be one to be able to see the pop up with location, speed, type of hack and pci

I just do not have that turned on because it will require me to have to press it each time

I was hoping that there was a way that the MPh would show on the top like always even if I have it set to OFF for Pitch call out

Don't look now...but someone is creeping up on you at #80 on the leaderboards
That Community Day dinner shall be mine!

Haha...couldn't sleep last night and couldn't do any more editing.
Went onto SportsConnect to check on some rosters and figured I would check the Leaderboards for COTW.
The next thing I know...I'm adding $5.44 to my PSN wallet. SNEAKY...very sneaky SCEA....it's gotta be subliminal messaging!!!! I can't even hit and I'm trying your friggin' COTW

            Oh....and I hate CC's slider.

I'm really wishing they would fix the sliding problems. The assist takes over too soon and makes terrible decisions. They always seem to slide into the tag or go feet-first. Oh, and I've had two players with fractured bones in the first four games of my season. Other than that I'm really enjoying the game so far.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread

Ok, After 20 straight days of work I got a day off today, so I picked up the game last night!

                Impressions:

First things first, Analog controls. Not sure yet. Will definitely need more time on this one. I like some aspects of it....hitting but not sure about pitching and so far not liking throwing.

Runs silky smooth, Dodger Stadium looks better than last year, batters box shows wear, tarp in the left field corner, lighting is great (although to be super picky it stays light too long imo, but i'd rather have it that way than dark too soon).

Hit variety seems pretty good, really liking the slicing and hooking that the batted ball does as it moves farther out after being struck.

Camera angle options are great too, looks like everything is covered.

Commentary needs an overhaul (as many have said). Karros repeats alot of what Hud used to say. His little chuckle when he says things is annoying! Neither Soup or Karros sound very spontaneous with their comments but sound as though they read from cue cards.

oh ya and the challenge of the week thing is going to be addictive for sure. Just wish I didn't have to pay to play more than once. Yes I'm cheap, I know it's only .25 but I did pay $60+ for the game didn't I?

Looking forward to playing many more games today, another fine effort from the crew at sony.

Playing my Giant's Franchise and the Dodgers came to town. Juan Uribe came up to bat and it was cool, the crowd game him some love and he stepped out of the box to acknowledge them. SO cool!!

This year you really have to charge balls in the outfield with a speedy runner. Crawford hit a single up the middle on me and I took my time getting it, like last year. When I looked up I saw him rounding first. I was shocked!! Time I got it in he was standing on second....lesson learned.

One thing I have seen a couple of times I don't like though. Bottom of ninth I'm down 2. First guy strikes out against Palpebon. Second guy homers to bring me within a run with one out. The cpu then took Palpebon out for Wheeler.

I'm a diehard Cardinal fan, and with that... What the HECK happen to the left field wall?? I actually understand why the Hall of famers are not on there, but I don't understand the fix they did to take it's place.... It doesn't look right, and hope they fix it THIS YEAR. I don't mind the current players , but there needs to be at least two more added to fill the wall up.. one to the left of Pujols and the other to the right of Wainwright. I liked the "ghost players" better..... the ones currently on there look like "Fat Heads". The left field wall was such an eye catcher the past 5 years... it just looks disrespected in the game this year.. it could have been done better.. or at least left blank,or possibly just displaying "The Show" on there.
Now on the positive side ... I do like the new scoreboards..the grounds crew after the third inning... very nice.

1 Impression i have is this game is great.

Just had one of the werided thing happen to make. I playing the Twins vs Oakland and i'm the Twins. there pitcher throw a ball that hit in the grass half way between the mound and home plate and get pass the catcher for a wild pitch. I never see that before.
Let go Twins, Vikes, Wild, Golden Gophers go.

I love this game. I am a huge graphics guy, and the lighting and day to night transition are beautiful. The rain is very well done, and so are the clouds. The graphics have a few minor jaggies, but hey, it is a video game. NOW, the number one thing I cannot stand, is player morphing and fan morphing. Awful. When fans reach over the fence or wall, their arms and bodies go right through the solid wall. When pitching from behind the pitcher, you continually see vendors and fans wall through each other on the stairs, which has caused me to not pitch from that angle anymore. The big thing however, is player morphing. Nothing reminds me that this a video game more than seeing a plyer going right through another player. Very annoying and looks terrible. And sometimes, I even see a pitchers glove morph through his leg. I am really hoping they can get this down next year. Also in the crowd, you see some fans doing drinking animations, but their not drinking anything, so it looks weird...
                          Go Phillies!

Well, todays the last day of my rental copy so I figured lets throw down some unfilttered thoughts.

The 2 majors things I wanted to see fixed before I made the purchase was Fielding and Stats, otherwise, it was gonna be 10 for another year.
                            Lets dance.

+ The analog pitching and fielding.
The learning curve is slight and its just right. I can learn to love these babys.
As far as fielding, the player momentum is awesome. It took me for a loops off the bat as I made one step int he wrong direction and Saltalamacchia had a triple.
                            Oy, in a good way.

As far as pitching, its harder to throw where u want which means walks are in thaaaa houuuusee!
                            Nice.

                            - Adding a cool feature like moveable and resizing of the pitching meter, but NOT letting u use it in a default location though all 30 broadcast views. HUGE negative there as the darn thing covers my pitchers heads. Especially Andrew [6'10] Brackman

                            + Lighting!
Wow, nothing else needs to be said, tho in day games its TOOOO bright. Hard to tell if a ball is a fly or grounder sometimes.

                            - Stats
5 years running and SCEA has outright ignored this staple of baseball and presentation. The competition is running circles around The Show here. Its horrible again this year and its not funny anymore. Is it that hard to have an overlay pop up each time a guy comes up that doesnt show the exact same stat [outside of an occasionl Split stat halfway through franchise].
How come the cool facts'stats that show up in Exhibition mode are nowhere to be found in Franchise? I asked this last year and never heard an answer. lol

                            +ESPN Ticker
Cool first time effort. I would like to see more stuff from the drop down ticker like Milestones, come up as an overlay or in the batter walk up screen.
The top down drop box is annoying.

                            More thoughts to come.

I feel like an idiot. Since I've gotten the game, I've noticed my strikeouts are way down when I'm pitching, and my hits were way up.

It wasn't until last night that I realized that I wanted to get the ball in the little target to hit my spots. Until then, I had just been going straight up.

                                More thoughts:

+Liking the new Colors for the overlays, tho a refresh is in order.
Its still the same base design. Think Madden 09 to 10, that kind of change.

                                - Lost In Franchise
There is no connection to the rest of the league. No headlines, Just One count em ONE measly 3 sentence line about another game.. Thats it. It adds up to a boring Franchise experience.

                                +Player Models
                                No more TRex!: lol

                                -Spring Training Mode
Needs a refresh as well. No feel of battling for roster spots.

Hopefully in 12 things can get taken care of finally as far as Stats and franchise. 4 years running for stats and as far as franny, its not bad is it is, but the bugs inherent there means its time to start anew.

In all, the things that I loved about the Show are still there, but not enough to get me pick it up.

Wishlist time for me. Back to 10 tomorrow it looks like.
