This one has me confused. When you scroll with the L1/R1 buttons on the newspaper page there is a MLB page for franchise that tells you about a game. Granted I wish it was more, but still its more than a "3 sentence line" about another game.

Plus, the in game ticker does a good job of connecting you to your franchise by providing scores from about the league as well as dropping stats about a player from each team.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

      Hi CB,

I mentioned that there was only one headline from another game. Theres your paper article and one other one I see.

Plus I decided to check around the league's box scores to see if the game they picked was a good choice. There was a 2 hit CG by Myers and they didnt use that game as the headline article?
      Scratching my head.
As far as the news article...
It was ATL beating the Mets 6-3 and Heyward and a single and a double to lead them.

Thats where I get disconnected from the franchise.
Plus in my mid season testing, there were ZERO unique stats on the batter walk up,
just the usual, 3-pack, nothing underneath it in the thin colored section.
Thats crazy IMO. crazy. its 2011 we need something better, its too antiquated, I am sure they know it, lets hope they finally do something about it.
man, this is baseball we are talking about here.

+ had my first rain game and man does that make u feel like a gloomy gus!
I love that feel, especially with announcing off, makes it more relaxed. Which brings me to.....

      - Eric Karros.
Is it too early to say time for him to go?
Man Is it time for an announcing reboot? 5 years running now. I lasted 4 games before muting it. I feel bad that they put all this money into the announcing in the game and nobody likes it or leaves it on. Well not everybody but ya.

I wonder why Harold Reynolds and Leiter wernt brought in?
They have a rapport with Matt.
SCEa likes to go with these San Diego/Cali people instead of going with whos the best for the job.

Would SCEA comment on if they asked anyone else?

Just disappointed this year as I was hoping after the overwhelming cries in the wishlist thread for stats stats stats and a new announce team that we got left in the cold again.

I can survive another year with 10 as I am coming up on year 3 as well as possibly adding 2k11, but I wish Sony would step it up.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread

Just had a great game: Astros (me) at Cardinals. I was cruising along with the pitching and having my typical weak hitting performance when, with 2 outs in the fourth I worked back-to-back walks of Carpenter and then hit a double with Bill Hall. I should have scored, but I goofed on the baserunning controls while talking to my son (yeah yeah...nice dinosaur kiddo, but daddy's trying to win!)

In fifth I again put together some two out work and after drawing another walk I hit a HR with Chris Johnson. Carpenter got rattled a bit and hung a breaking ball over the middle of the plate and I yanked that bad boy outta there to go up 3-0. I was happy that, despite only mediocre batting to that point, I had seen enough pitches and drawn a few walks to where that was the last straw for Tony. So, I chased Carpenter out after 4 2/3 with his pitch count at 91! I was VERY happy with this. The Cardinals responded in the bottom half by scratching out a run off of two hits and a walk. 3-1.

All quiet until the Top of the 7th when Lee came up, got a hung curve middle-in and I absolutely CRUSHED it. It was my first no-doubter and it went into the top deck in Left measuring at 445 or 446. 4-1. Wandy cruised again for me in the bottom half and notched his 7th K.

In the eighth I turned it over to my pen and was reminded of just the type of team I'm playing with...lol. My LHP Albad, brought in specifically to deal with Rasmus didn't do the job. On the first pitch I left a FB over the plate and Colby made it 4-2 pretty damn quick.

I then brought in Lopez, and couldn't get him under control either. I walked 1, gave up a double and then gave up a sac fly to make it 4-3. I walked another before I brought in Lyon early to get me the last out in the 9th. He did so, and also closed out the 9th as well to secure a 4-3 win.

Anyway, great, great game and it just felt so convincing throughout. These are the types of games that serve as a reminder of just how damn representative of the real deal SCEA made their baseball game.

Oh, and completely unrelated, I think I might be like Knight was the past few years with Rex. I'm apparently the only one...lol...but I actually really like Karros.

Congrats on the win. Was that on All-Star for hitting?

Thanks. Yeah, it was AS, but with button hitting, not analog. I've actually stopped using analog in games for now and have been practicing with it in HR derby and BP.

I hear ya. I keep going back and forth with Analog hitting. I'm going to give it a couple more games and if I continue to stink (likely), I'll be going to Timing, but keeping Analog for pitching and fielding.

Wait!! Are you saying that you have to let it go all the way down and then hit up on the stick to hit the targer in the middle?

You hold down on the stick until it hits the yellow line then flick it up and to the right/left depending on where you placed your pitch. You place your pitch with the left stick. How fast you flick up determines the power of the throw.

Very impressed with how well the CPU pitchers mix up their pitches and learn any swinging patterns I have, especially noticeable at All-Star and HOF level.
I could only imagine the same even more so at Legend.

I love that every team plays differently - I feel I have the upper hand when playing as Boston, but have to be scrappy when playing as the A's.

I'm having a hard time deciding on the team(s) to use in my Franchise this year. I'm thinking Nationals or Brewers in NL and Rays or Twins in AL - Nationals/Rays have the upper hand.

Out of the last 3 games, I've blown the lead in the 8th inning or later in 2 of them - and loved every minute of it!

The more I play it, the more I like it! The analog controls are a great addition, and add a fun element to this year's game. The game just seems totally polished in every area to me.

I will say this is the first year I am not using guess pitch, and despite the slider breaking my balls, I am actually hitting better without it on. I think it almost got in the way after not using it for a week.

I am seeing a ton of hit variety, and balls are getting hit to where they are pitched so to speak, and that in turn shows off how incredible the ball physics are.

I also have the pitch speed on one (yes, I'm old), and I am loving being able to read a pitch and see it coming and recognizing the pitch type on delivery. Hitting, as frustrating as it can be on this series, is downright fun as well with the Analog controls!

I am also seeing many things in the overall package that are new to me this year!

Thanks SCEA for making my decision to buy a PS3 3 years ago just for The Show a good one!!!
