Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread

I want to join the knuckleball conversation, but from the pitcher's perspective.

I used Wake for 4 relief innings against the Brewers and he was unhittable. I was concerned it was too effective.

A few games later I again used Wake against the same Brewers and he got rocked.

Looks like its wonderfully unpredictable, although I hate the way it looks this year.

Maybe it was just tough luck then, but seeing three strikes in a row on the most difficult pitch to control in baseball was getting very frustrating. I bounced back and tagged Halladay for 4 runs in 5.2 innings the night after so I don't think it's just a case of me not being able to hit. Who knows.

In between the 8th and 9th innings ....there was a nice little overlay showing a trade from the day before. Sort of like the out of town score overlay.

Was it in the ticker? Or an overlay like the lineup card?

Anybody else feel like fatigue is just too strong? Im 11 games into my season with 1 day off so far and my whole starting lineup fatigue bar is almost empty!

yeah, too bad it shows 2 teams and the commentary mentions a team not even involved. say for example the phillies and giants make a trade, the announcer says, heres a trade texas made earlier.

I had a pleasant suprise yesterday. At the end of the school day my wife sends me a picture message. I open it and to my suprise she is holding a copy of the show, I blurt out "yes" and people around me give me a funny look. I repsond "I just got a picture message from my wife" they glance more curious, I say she got me a video game and every one responds "ooh" I know where there mind was. I got to play one inning last night I was the Astros and played the Cardinals in Minute maid. I get the first 2 batters out and Pujols comes to bat, I a m talking to my 7 year old son about batting stances and suddenly I find myself with a 2-2 count. I begin to tell my son how dangerous Pujols is and then bam......He jacks a homer. What a world, what a world.

Hope someday they can change when a runner is on and you hit a long fly and you aren't sure if it's gone or not. But the runner keeps running so you know it is.

                          Got my game last night.

                          So far my impression is.

Awesome, but man the options and settings are getting massively overwhelming! lol

I'm just playing rtts. First time since 08. I've only played a couple of games but I'm just trying to get a feel for the settings and camera angles.

I may actually play some exhibition games until I finally have a good feeling about being ready to start a season.

btw, I haven't been able to tell yet, but when you change settings in the main menu do they stick? I noticed as I changed them some times I would be prompted to save ans some not. I just hope it's not an issue of continuously having to load them.

Man, as much as I love classic pitching, I seriously can't find a sweet spot for too many/too few strikes. I've got it on All Star, with consistency and accuracy at 6, and for a few games in a row, i've been at or below 50/50 balls and strikes. These guys aren't control guys, but 50/50 is absurdly low. The control guys have a pretty good ratio. When I bump up consistency and accuracy, it gets too easy to throw strikes.

Unfortunately, the crazy randomness of classic pitching from last year is still there, just not as often. I'll go fastball below the knees, medium effort, and the ball will miss by not inches, but feet. Most breaking balls are a crapshoot in terms of where they end up.

Gah, I dunno, i'll keep playing and hope classic pitching works itself out, as I really dislike meter, and analog just isn't for me.

I can only hope this happens this season, AJ Burnett complete game win. Only allowed 2 runs in a victory against the Twins.

Question: How to increase the amount of walks for either team? Decrease picture accuracy is necessary or what? Just very few walks so far.

Online play is not enjoyable to me at this point. If this was my primary game mode I'd sell it right now. Luckily I haven't tried franchise mode or rtts, which I enjoyed last year.

Need to vent about several things.
                                Major issues for me:
On bunts and cheap hits the ball is almost impossible to see near homeplate. Throws take a bit too long for the player to set and throw.
Online play is laggy and choppy (wired cable connection and game mode on tv). Hitting is ridiculous online, as I have to wait to swing until the ball has disappeared, yet i make contact.

                                Minor issues:
The visual difference between a low ball and a ball fully in the dirt is not enough.
