There is absolutely nothing wrong with analog throwing in the game. The mechanic works exactly as intended.

the game plays like a scripted "feel good movie".
the game plays like a greatest sports highlights presentation. where the star always hits the game winning home run or like the closer always gets in a jam and strikes out the last batter.

is there a clutch slider some where that can be turned off.

game is enjoyable but come on now!!! can I please have less predictability
At all of this. I wish my 6-4 A's had this type of luck but, for me most of the "feel good ending's" go to the CPU.

It takes some practice. That is what is good about the different levels of difficulty for each setting (pitching/hitting/fielding).

I recommend trying on the lowest, till you get the feeling down. And work your way up. You will be impressed how well it plays once it is mastered.

Only thing I hate about analog throwing and it doesn't happen often. But it does happen from time to time. When turning a DP and loading the second basemans throw to first, the game doesn't register it and the 2B (or SS) just stands there. Like I said its only happened 3 times in 60+ games.

When it does happen its so frustrating. That said analog fielding is the only analog controls that I am still using.

Maybe next year could add the pitchers name above his pitches. I know I could click around to see who is pitching against me but would be cool presentation wise to see who is pitching. No biggie just a thought.

not throwing salt at the title, but just pointing out an observation.
again the scripted endings, kill the game for.
it took a while to get into this title.
I like everything about this game except, again the scripted endings.

and for the record both baseball titles are solid.

There are no scripted endings. There just aren't. It's all in your head.

There's no line of code that says "when Albert Pujols is up with the Cardinals trailing in the ninth, increase his HR probability to 99%." Or anything of that nature.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread

Let me preface by saying this is MY opinion....but....

This game is great in all aspects. I thought the commentary was stale, but it surprises me all the time. I think baseball is boring to watch, and if a friend was watching me play they would probably say its boring as well. That what make this game great. It is just like baseball.

If you are playing you feel the intensity. I am 12-6 in my franchise with the dodgers, but I have enjoyed every game. To me its not a play every day game, but once or twice a week I will play 3 or 4 games in a row.

The fielding is great, the batting is great because if you don't like the default, the sliders work. All the nic pics of the game have some merit, but overall u can't say that this game is a monster. The animations are smooth and the drama exist.

I am sorry, I rarely post impressions, but I haven't been into baseball games like his since triple play or baseball stars.

Just a small impression but this is the best game ever created thus far. The options The Show provides is amazing and the complete look and feel is somethings to marvel at. Thank you.

I finally picked up a win in my season/spring training!!

0-18 was weighing heavy as I was learning the controls on HOF. Each game I got closer and closer as I lowered my errors and worked on pitch recognition. Pitching I have down for the most part, but errors and strikeouts were killing me.

Beat the Jays 8-2 for my first win of the season!

This is with all Analog controls, correct? If so, congrats!

I've just bumped up hitting and throwing to All-Star and it's tough going. Veteran was good for me, though, as I was able to figure my timing out with hitting and I feel comfortable making those throws to 2B now in the field.

Pitching on HOF has been really good for me, so no changes there.

The only bad thing is that I just lost Ubaldo Jimenez for 2-3 months with a broken hand after his last Spring Training outing

That sucks. Reset warranted imo. lol

Yeah all analog except hitting. I love the zone hitting this year. All-Star was bit too arcadey for me so I went to HOF on everything and swore to myself not to give up on it.

This years game is just so much fun. Fielding, hitting, pitching, you have to focus on everything in order to win.
