Skipped 10 since I'm not a huge baseball fan, so far loving the new controls. Analog controls is the main reason Im enjoying this years game. Feels fresh.

And just like that my hitting woes are over as I light the Angels up for 10 runs off of 13 hits and three homeruns.
Lol, gotta love this game.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Had a heartbreaking loss last night before I went to bed
Yankees at Rangers
I lost with my Yanks 4-3
CC gave me a good outing striking out 7 and then Joba came in along with Feliciano before the ball went to Mo in the 9th
I got a hr from posada and a 2 run triple from the captain Jeter
Hamiliton hit a sharp single to center with 2 outs and runners on second and third which lost me the game. I dove with Jeter and it went by him within an inch
Tough loss.
Play on analog for everything and HOFComment

Damn this game, it can be so mean sometimes! Been playing on All-Star since the demo and doing fine... suddenly though I can't hit for **** and am getting rocked pitching. Bumped down to Veteran... still getting my butt whooped.
Sigh... season just started and I'm already in a slump.Currently Playing:

Game 2 Sox vs. Rangers, 1-0 Sox, went with Bard to close it out after an eight inning performance by Lester. First pitch 1-1 game in the 9th. I play on All-Star and hitting is tough as hell. Probably switch down to Vet to get the hang of it. Anyone hitting on AS but having the CPU pitch on Vet.? Would there be a difference.
When you switch to Vet from AS dow you also bring the CPU settings for pitching and hitting down to Vet?Boston born Red Wings fan.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
One thing I am impressed with this year is the fake players. Seems like this year they are all not 18 or 19 years old. It also seems that the fake names seem a little more believable that in the past. I always felt like in the past all the minors league's was really a freaken foreign league with a bunch of F'ed up weird names. Still some stupid *** names but it is much improved. Not check ratings on the minors yet but nice to see there was some improvement as far as age and names go.
Once in a while i like to take the fake players at the end of the year when SCEA gets all the players added at the end of the year for the 40 man rosters and start a franchise. It has been hard to do that with out editing a bunch of names and ages.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
HOF difficulty is where its at this year! I have played 10 ST games now and pretty much all my stats are perfect. In 10 games so far this year with the Jays this is what my stats look like. By the way this is on default sliders (except RP stamina which is -2), all analog controls for everything.
So far I am 5-5 in ST
Team totals
avg. 254
Doubles 18
Triples 3
HR 8
SB 10
Caught S. 2
ERA 3.68
I have been playing all my ST games as the would be played IRL. Using alot of AAA/AA players, subing players in and out often as well as pitchers. I really like that the game has also coded in proper use of players in ST for the AI, it real makes even ST feel very realistic.
The only stats of mine that are out of whack are errors, have made about 20 errors in 10 games, but 12 of them were in the first 3 games. I am now getting used to analog throwing and am averaging about 1-2 errors a game. Still high but I am gradually improving. I love that you really have to concentrate when making throws. No more making throws in your sleep. If i'm still seeing too many throwing errors on my part by the end of ST I may move throwing down to All Star. I also love how on HOF the CPU really takes advantage of your mistakes. Throw a meatball down the middle and it will get crushed. It really makes you think while pitching with analog. I like knowing that often when a ball gets hammered it isn't completely random, but because of me missing my location either vertically or on the upswing. The key is to make sure when you do miss to good hitters you don't miss over the plate.
Stealing bases is so much better this years. Guys with speed can actually steal on a consistant basis for the first time ever in this series. I am currently stealing at an 83% success rate. Guys aren't getting picked off at will either. I have had maybe 1 or 2 guys picked off in 10 games which is much more realistic then 1 or 2 per game last year. The game is just so much better in every aspect this year. It still plays alot like 10, but with most of the major bugs from last year being fixed (wall suctions, grounder down 3rd base, stealing, pickoffs ect.....).

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
For all the talk of improved trade AI, I have to say, I am VERY disappointed. Seems just as broken as last year.
I'm often able to randomly trade for top players with a couple scrubs (seems to be no logic to when and where this can happen). Just a random "for instance"... traded for Howie Kendrick and one of the top A potential prospects in the Angels system for two low prospect players with D potential and a below average SP with C potential.
And things like that happen quite often and like I said, seemingly randomly. There's just certain players you can get for absolutely nothing.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Well aft playing since Monday, I must the game continues to leave me in awe every time I play. I love yes LOVE the new anolog pitching now that I have the sience down, love it. I feel like im really earrings every strikeout and when I walk it is my fault 100%.
Hit I have become goos at also, but I'm using zone right now, because the anolg check swings for me when I don't, it weird, so I'm using zone again.
Anyway, SCEA thanks for such an authentic and great baseball game. I'm having so much fun.N.Y Mets
