It is really annoying the longggg load times after you confirm the line ups and the wait then starts for the game to start. Is longer then a minute and 2 times it has not loaded the game at all even though it was not frozen because the loading icon was still spinning and the music as wellComment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
My name isn't on the list yet, but I posted my pic Saturday morning after a 3 hour round trip Friday night in the rain to get my copy. If for some reason I am not okay to post, feel free to delete.
Was able to get a game in on Saturday before company came over, just went random and ended up being the Braves against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium.
Game is smooth. The best way to describe it is smooth. Everything seems to have been polished. The fielders play more to real life, meaning there is room for hits to drop, the good feilders get to balls, the bad fielders take bad angles or just wait to play the ball on a hop.
My game was awesome for a debut full game. It ended 2-1 in 15 innings. Not that there weren't chances, got out of a bases loaded, 0 out jam in th 11th, threw a runner out at the dish in the 13th. Had Brett Gardiner catch what should have been the game winning double (like I was talking about earlier, most LF'ers would have mised this one).
I was only able to play some HR derby yesterday, but I am going to get my work done early and head home to play some more today, have tomorrow off as I really thought I would not get the game early, so I plan to dig in now.
Home Run Derby has a cool added feature where they track the trajectory of all of the homeruns you hit, highlighting the longest one. Visually, it is an awesome thing.Comment

Originally posted by vbarlettaIts a bummer Clint Hurdle is not listed as Pirates manager. I just saw a gameplay that mentioned Nick Leyva as third base coach. Strange they didnt include Hurdle, because he was last year as hitting coach for the Rangers.
They do not have Don Mattingly or Terry Collins of the Mets
Both the Dodgers and Mets have black coaches that are called Mets manager and Dodgers manager.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
OK, I got the OK from Marino top post my impressions, picked up the game at 1pm, back at work though, plated for about 30 minutes.
Pic anyway.
OK, let me start off by saying that For some reason I was going to pick up 2k over this at the start, so far glad I didn't.
I played the Mets vs Phils for the short 30 minutes I did, let me say WOW, the game is just gorgeous, I mean one of the best things I have saw in a game in a long time. Yes the show doesn't seemed changed to others year by year, but this year to me, the game looks flat out stunning. The lightning is stunning, and the player models are tops.
I changed the settings to all analog and everything is set to All star for now.
I will be leaving the pitcher cam on broadcast and don't see me every changing that, A because I think its just the best your ever going to see.
Batting cam is on custom 1 but zoomed back and I'm loving it. That's simple of an edit.
So far I'm loving everything about the game thus far. It plays so butter smooth like others have stated, and the game looks so damn real it's pretty scary.
Now one thing that Stood out to me the most with my game was Dickey's pitches, I don't know if it was so noticeable in last years game, but the Knuckle ball pitches look freaking awesome, I can;t believe how real it looks, no spin at all, you can tell the difference between all pitches its amazing.
Guys you are in for a treat, the game is truly different this year to me, not the same, but in such a better way. Again though the game looks beyond amazing. At times you forget its even a game.
Great Job SECA!!!!
**Also one side note, I have no issues with lad time after the game installed, due to upgrading my hdd to a faster drive a few weeks back. Anyone looking to upgrade get the Western Digital Scorpio Black 500gb, best drive I ever used. 7200rpm and a 16mb cache makes a big difference.Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 03-07-2011, 03:11 PM.N.Y Mets

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Been playing RTTS so far. I'm pretty terrible right now. I selected expert and left everything else the default. I'm hitting around .200. I strike out once every three at bats right now.I've only played six games. I've faced at least three or four pitchers that have 95mph FB and a 67-68 mph knuckle.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
another thing to add, Analog batting is great, I cant use buttons anymore.
The only thing I need someone to tell me is, I see power and contact, we still have to pick one before we swing I guess right? There on the screen before the pitch.
**Also I got an update before I I installed the game, anymore know that that was for?Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 03-07-2011, 04:36 PM.N.Y Mets

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Further to the fielding comments, playing a slugfest, Jays at Milwaukee, 10-9 in the 6th inning and I just saw something I have never seen in this game. Popped one up in front of the mound, sky high, 2 outs and I have a guy on second, so I just round 3rd and put my controller down, Fielder comes in to play it and that's the end of the inn....nope CLANG, he boots it and the game is tied 10-10 top of 6, LOLComment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I thought the button for power and contact was just there for people who use buttons.
The analog hitting video shows that power is generated by timing of your swing.
I have hit homers without pressing that silly buttonComment
