Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Throwing seems harder now compared to the demo. That or I suck but whatever it is I'm dropping the throw difficulty.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Everything looks awesome. First thing I did was start up a game in the rain at Progressive field. Rain looks good, it does affect the play, and the stadium could not be more perfect, right down to booing the crap out of Milton Bradley.
Made a few fielding mistakes, misjudging balls a few times and getting careless with throws. Gonna have to work on that. It was great to see a pitcher actually show signs of declining as the game went on. Took a no hitter into the 5th(that probably shouldn't happen first time playing the game though) and when he finally allowed a hit he struggled for a bit before settling down. In the 7th he completely lost it and ended up getting torched. Hitting seems to be much more difficult than on the demo for whatever reason. I managed just one hit-a bomb by Carlos Santana off of King Felix, who struck out 16. Really going to have to work on not swinging at everything, I can tell it's far more important this year.
Also played a game at Fenway, it looks great as well, though Josh Beckett appears to be the old Josh Beckett because he was nasty.
I think I'll have to play a few games with some good teams to see how much is the talent level and how much of it is me. Should probably "learn" with a good team anyway, it will be easier to tell when I've got it down.
My only complaints, much like the demo, are with the basestealing/easily getting picked off and that there are still some "suspect" scoring decisions. Errors being charged when they shouldn't(if it doesn't allow a runner to advance, it's not an error, doesn't matter if the guy bobbled it or threw it away). I got charged an error on a ball I bobbled, picked up, and threw the runner out on. There's also times where there should be errors charged, but they aren't. Compounding this problem is that the runs that resulted from the errors seem to be credited as earned runs against my pitcher. I'll have to look at this more to make sure I'm not mistaken, but I'm certain that is the case. I imagine determining errors might be a tricky thing with the programming and whatever but it's still frustrating for me.Comment

I hit an inside-the-park HR with Dustin Pedroia against the White Sox @ Fenway! It was a shot that got over the CF's head and took a wicked haaad bounce off the Monster and rolled forever before the RF could get in position to pick up the ball. Pedroia beat the throw home by 2 steps.
I love, love, love the Broadcast cam for pitching @ Fenway, too.
I played a game in the rain @ Coors and I didn't see any noticeable raindrops; the sky was definitely overcast and gray, though.
Still adjusting to the Analog controls. I've been doing a lot of check-swings because I'm not pushing all the way up on the stick on my follow-through.Currently Playing:

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I know it's been said before and I know it's redundant, but this game just feels like baseball. The nuances the atmosphere. It just oozes major league baseball. I have said this before in the past, and I'll say it again. This game is in my opinion the finest sports game ever made. I know others will refute it, but that's simply my opinion.
Loving the analog controls. I have the pitching down pretty well. But my timing is off on the hitting, may need to lower pitch speed just a touch, but I really, really enjoy the analog controls.
The camera work is again first rate, and I didn't realize how much adding the different broadcast cams for each stadium were going to add. Really a neat feature imo.
I can't wait until later tonight when I get my custom music and put some of Skyboxer's various sounds into the game. It adds a lot to the experience.Currently Playing:

I appreciate the broadcast camera, but the crowd behind home plate is just too blurry. It's distracting. Besides, I think the full pitcher camera is the way to go and it shows off the full graphical prowess of this game.Last edited by brinks; 03-08-2011, 09:48 PM.Comment

Got Permission from 42.
Just had to say that the graphics are amazing this year, everything feels so real, RTTS is absolutely phenomenol this year and I love that when I hit foul balls, that when they're dropping it adds a slide whistle noise to emitate the ball dropping. One thinng I have to say is that Eric Karros should talk more often and that when I sim a franchise the Yankees should always be in last place in their division like what happenned to me. lolPHILLIES PHANS: IT'S GONNA BE A GREAT YEARComment
