Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
And I guess if I do that, will I see what happens, or just skip ahead in the game after I get on base?Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Go to the mode option (in RTTS). Down the list, you have an option for BR opportunity (or something named like that). You can choose to manage none, all, or only when you are the lead runner, etc.
handy if you hate BR aspect of the game.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Also, after the pitcher delivers, you can switch the view to pressbox cam (or something similar) by holding L2 down.
I think a lot of BR frustration stems from the difficulty of distinguishing line drives and fly balls (e.g., if you cannot see the 3rd base coach...), but with this cam, you can do that very quickly. Decide whether you want to take of or not, then go back to the BR view by releasing L2...
This is somewhat of a hidden trick but sure does help BR!!Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
It's a clever idea and I've tried this myself when it was suggested in another thread, but I still found it quite difficult to get a great jump for some reason.. (I also use the holding R1 + keeping L3 toward 1B technique, and slides to avoid the tag with R2.)
When I actually do BR training (I do all these training things...), it is still very hard to steal 2B when the pitcher throws fastball and has a standard delivery. Most of the time I get thrown out with "good" jump, if I wait till any visual cue from the pitcher/catcher. There's always some reaction time needed.
Then I realized "great" jumps mostly happen when I take off right when the pitcher starts his delivery. Which of course requires me to anticipate what the pitcher does... pure guess work. Otherwise I'm always about 0.4 sec into the pitchers delivery, a "good" jump but basically too late for an easy steal...
While there is a risk of taking off too early, I noticed that I can often take off a very tiny bit early and the pitcher still delivers to the plate. and this happens more frequently with my BR ratings are higher (I think).
This way I can get my steal success % up above 60% perhaps, but I don't know how I can ever manage to steal > 80% of the times... it's still very challenging for me.
Anyone think that hearing Lincecum pitch to Posey is odd? How about if they are in Phillies uni's? That's how it is in one of my RTTS players, odd thing is, the Phillies haven't even been to the World Series yet since. Not only is that kind of odd (4 years in this RTTS), but from what I remember the teams in the previous World Series has been the Reds, Marlins, Red Sox, Athletics, and Braves. I may have left out one, i think the Sox have been twice though, but I really doubt in the next 3 years we'd see those teams other then the Red Sox and maybe... maybe... the Braves, though I even doubt that.Comment

I didn't make it to the All-Star Game despite leading the AL with a .375 AVG and .437 OBP with full playing time. Thanks CPU fans.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Well it has been a couple weeks (gametime) since I've been called up to the Tigers. After winning the first two games, the team has slumped badly and lost 9 in a row, falling from first to third in the division. I really think they called me up too early and I'm simply not ready, even though I was completely bombing in AAA. However, it is like night and day. In the Majors, my player is really struggling in comparison.
I've struck out 7 times since being called up--I had 12 Ks in the entire AAA season up to that point. I still make decent contact a fair bit but all those balls go straight at guys instead of finding the gaps. Almost all my stats are still below 70, minus contact and speed, and it really shows now at the MLB level. I'm definitely performing like a "D" player. I'm concerned now that my balance in ratings is going to really hurt me, so I think I'm going to focus on certain things for a while and use my points exclusively in those areas.
It is strange how in AAA those ratings did not seem to hurt me, but now I'm at the top level I'm like a completely different player. At least there is a tangible difference between the leagues, but it almost feels too steep to be real. Regardless, I'm hoping I can get off the Tigers, but I doubt I will. The team has badly mishandled me up to this point, and I never wanted to play for them to begin with. My shot at ROTY is also likely gone as I only have August + September to put up amazing numbers which isn't likely to happen. I'll easily reach 130 at-bats though to kill my qualification.Comment

For All-Star Voting, you should aim to be the highest vote receiver for your team. Even if you're one of the top 3 position players or 5 or 6 in SP/CP, if you have a teammate ahead of you there's a chance you might get overlooked.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Yeah, Trevor Cahill, Gio Gonzalez and Brett Anderson were ahead of me. Still, I would've thought leading the league in batting and on-base would get me in. How often does the league's leading hitter not make it to the ASG?Comment

You should go win the MVP and the Hank Aaron... that'll teach the CPU not to put you in the All-Star Game
I'm still hot about not getting picked for the Double-A All-Star Game after my guy played in the Futures Gamehttp://www.twitter.com/jconWORD <- FOLLOW ME! ...WORD!Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
So I finished the 2016 season. The Reds made to the NLCS but didn't have the pitching to make it past the Cardinals, who went on to win the World Series. Pujols retired after the season. I got all my hitting and baserunning attributes up to 99, will work on fielding next year.
Now to the offseason: the Reds offered me a 3 year deal for 55.5 million on a 3 year deal-18.5 million per year. I asked for 185 million over 10 years with a player option. We settled on a straight year 18.5 million for 10 years. It's escalating, so I'll make 14.7 million this year.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I have notice an oddity while playing a speedy left fielder and I was wondering if others have experienced it.
<O</O
While on 2nd base I extend my lead twice which causes the pitcher to spin for a pick off play. While he’s turning I break for 3rd and make it 3 out of 4 times (the 4th is because the 3rd baseman has super human speed for the tag). When I do make it the game does not give me credit for a stolen base. I only get credit if the pitcher is pitching when I break for 3rd. I don’t do this a lot because I feel like I’m taking advantage of a broken part of the game. So is it cheating for me to steal 3rd this way?Comment
