Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Hey guys, quick question.
My manager is notorious for pulling me WAY too quickly in games. I could be in the 7th inning pitching a 2-hit shut out with 115 pitches and if someone singles they pull me instantly (and often times we lose because our bullpen sucks). How can I keep myself in longer?Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Well this game FROZE again in the 8th inning of yet another nail bitter in game 2 but game 5 made up for it..
My braves were up 2 games to none and the pitching just blew it, we lost games 3 and 4 by huge margins so game 5 was do or die, what an ep1c collapse it would be if we lost the series up 2-0. By the way the Red Sox dominated the regular season winning 108 games or so and choked against an 87 win Royals team losing in the first round 3 games to 1. They lost the first two games at home.
So in game 5 of the NLDS between the braves and reds, the reds manage to jump to a comfortable lead with a 5 run 3rd inning but the braves chip away eventually making it a 5 to 4 ball game.
So the 9th inning rolls around, McCann becomes out number 1 and it was up to me, mr. clutch or clutchy (really, was in the show newspaper lol). With a hitter's count the pitcher throws a fastball which catches too much of the plate and a little late I swing as hard as I can belting it to the opposite field slicing left, waving it fair and it works, the ball barely lands to the right of the foul pole to tie it up which causes the sellout crowd at Turner Field to go absolutely crazy!!!
Now Heyward comes up and manages to get a single through the right side of the infield and on a botched hit and run he manages to steal second. Whew, the wild crowd starts doing the chop!!!!
So it's up to Freddie Freeman who had not done much during the series. With 1 out and a 2 ball 2 strike count he hits the biggest line drive of his career past a diving first basemen, scoring heyward for a walk off win in the bottom of the 9th inning!!!!! FREDEX delivers and the braves finish off an unbelievable come from behind victory to move on to the NLCS in consecutive years!!!!!

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
Any one win a World Series yet? I won one in 2013 with my Brewers. I won the NL ROTY, but played like crap in the post-season.
...but I digress. So we win it in 7 in Boston...and nothing. I didn't know what I was expecting but nothing?! Kinda lame.
Is this the same in other modes?Comment

NOthing...I was at least hoping the last out would have been hit at me and then something. But no, there was nothing. Not even a cut sceen. Just some lousy screen that says the Brewers were 2013 champs. And it wasn't even a seperate screen. It was just an update popup to the regular menu.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I definitely got a cut scene, after the last out my teammates all met at the mound and made a big ole pile and the commentators made whatever comment about winning the world series.
The thing I wish they would add is a world series banner and at least some kind of recognition of winning it the past season.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I can finally say I'm the happiest guy on the forums today. I created a starting pitcher a couple nights ago so I can get the trophy to get I believe 8 straight good at bats in the MLB ( I don't remember), so for about 20 games or so I was just the reliever only allowing 1 ER over 40 innings, after completing 3 achievement goals in a row and I still did not get the starting job I decided to have a talk with my manager to let me start, he told me he will do it but I better prove to him that I deserve it, and I did more than that.
Today I got my first ever Perfect Game on the MLB The Show franchise, I had 2 no hitters dating back to 06, last one was in MLB 09 The Show, makes it a better experience getting it as my own pitcher. I'm officially ready for MLB 12!
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.Comment

To those that didn't get celebrations, I believe that you have to be on the field when the team wins the game for the celebration ani to kick in, I am not 100% on that but I know that I did not get it either. But I am the ace and played in Game 1 and 5 but didn't start the all important winning game. No celebration.
I want to point out however my sincere disappointment in MLB rules. I have been stuck with the Twins organization for what is now my 6th season. I have demanded trades over and over, rejected their salary offers and multi-year contracts and still, they keep me there slaving away.
This 6 years of MLB service is driving me nuts. I feel like I am wasting the best years of my career with an orginzation that I despise. My first two years, they offered me $1.5mil. I was a two time Cy Young award winner. $1.5mil was a slap in the face.
Then of course, when I was finally eligible for arbitration, I demanded $7.5mil and got it.
My 4th and 5th season saw us not making the playoffs but I won the Triple Crown and a golden glove for pitching. They offered me a 3 year deal at the end of my 5th seaons worth $54mil. I declined and took a 1 year $18mil contract.
I again demanded trades all year. So now, at the beginning of my 6th season, I went to arbitration and demanded $25mil for that season, which I won. But again, I hate this team. We are 6-16 I believe? out of the gate. We only one my games that I start.
Obviously in a video game, the money is not the important thing although it is a good element for realism.
My point to all of this is I am now starting to understand players and their frustration more and more. I was one of those "shut up, you make millions, stop crying." But it is not about that.... It is about the prison that the team you begin your career with turns into. There is NO way out. None!!!
I know that in real life if a player screams loud enough he might get out but for those rare players that are gems, I bet the labor them there for the entire 6 years.
Hopefully '12 makes trade demands a little more realistic and I hope that the real life MLB players strike for at least 3rd or 4th year free agency rights.Last edited by chemical360; 10-10-2011, 09:04 AM.Comment

A 5 year, $108,000,000 contract to be the Ace of the Boston Red Sox pitching rotation.... I even through in a player option to see if they would bite and they did.I am a happy camper this morning.
