The cited article says: "The feature provides each PSN Plus account up to 1000 save files and a combined total of 150MB for game save data."If you become a PSN Plus subscriber you will be able to save your save files to the PSN servers and be able to play them on other systems. Hopefully this applies to copy protected files too.
This should be available tonight or tomorrow when the next firmware update hits.

I'm not sure what the typical size of a save file for other games is, but this I think is definitely tiny for the Show, whose franchise file (for MLB 10) is 22 MB each. HD these days are so cheap... I won't even consider joining PSN Plus unless they provide a larger storage.
I wouldn't mind that Sony comes up with ways to generate sufficient money so that SCEA can keep producing high quality game like the Show; all businesses need to do that... But deliberately introducing what can be a major inconvenience to create business opportunity is not the coolest thing IMHO...
I don't mean to rant though. It's just so unfortunate it's done in a so deliberate manner. Hoping they find other ways to make more $$$.Comment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
You're right I was. I think that's a product of having the PS3 longer and watching how things are changing.
The thing is that I'm not an "I want freedom" type of guy. I don't care about having an "open system". I don't care that we're not allowed to open our systems up and modify/hack them. I just think the change of heart regarding franchise save files from 2010 to 2011 is crazy. I lost a hard drive last year, but, thankfully, I had all of my The Show files backed up on my RAID array (I know that's a bit much, but I didn't create it for saving game files).
I don't know the reason for locking down the save file. Maybe it had something to do with DLC or exploits, but I hope it wasn't done to get more people to become Plus members.
I totally understand. I loved back ups for my saves for those "knock on wood moments".
Remember the days we hated buying memory cards? How we miss them now for external back up.
I think it was mostly done cause of the people cheating off the downloaded purchases on the store. Which stinks. Sony needs to find a way to assign those specifically to the PSN or something within the save. Not locking the save itself.
You get way too involved and invested in a Franchise to have it all go *poof* cause of a system failure.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
So is it still impossible to share a file with another PSN+ member? I would imagine you would have to access the online storage through the same account, even if its on a different system. If so, would it work to establish another account that my brother and I could share for this purpose only?Comment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
I am not saying it does or does not work, but it did not give me the message that you could not copy it over after updating to 3.6. However, it did jump over to the new Plus Subscriber on the PSN network... I would consider paying $50 more dollars for file share if (and only if) I have confirmation that it works with the Show franchise file.....Last edited by smokeyvol; 03-10-2011, 11:59 AM.Thanks,

If it will works, a secondary account, with plus, amongst friends might be the answer. So is it still impossible to share a file with another PSN+ member? Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
downloaded today. Signed up for PS+ and now I am happy.
Copied my franchise save file to it this morning, without issue.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
Plus some of the additional features make it worth it. Like being able to try games for 90 minutes and then buying the full game and continuing where you left off. At least thats how I understand it.
I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of PS+ and kinda wish now that I had done it sooner.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
I returned my copy of MLB 11. Second year in a row. MLB 09 played great out of the box with no disappearing trades (MLB 10), balls going through walls (MLB 11), or locked saves (MLB 11).
The locked save issue broke the camel's back for me. I refuse to pay $50 a year to backup a save. Sony needs to break the purchase content out into another save file if that's what keeps the devs from unlocking the Franchise mode files.Comment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
PS+ cost too much for me as such a tiny backup storage. I won't have time to play other games too much so all the other perks don't appeal to me.
Seeing how people are jumping on PS+ here, Sony is indeed successful in generating money by locking up what I think should be just an essential feature (to back up my own damn data!!!).
$60 for an install disk and $50 for a backup storage... I don't know...Comment
