Yeah, the next update 3.60 is supposed to have it, and at first (and probably always) only PS+ users have access.
Also developers can "opt out", so not every game will probably be supported.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
Does this mean we won't be able to get minor league rosters anymore from Knight? If that is so, I'm not opening up the game and taking it back. Cannot play without 'em. Cannot coach with out 'em. Can't do it.2012 Baltimore Orioles - Left us way too soon. Fun ride, fellas!Originally posted by OriolesfanRD Favorite Teams- Baltimore Ravens

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
No, it doesn't. The roster files are not copy protected like the mode save files are (per Countryboy early on in the impressions thread). And even if they were, Knight's rosters would be posted in the Vault where anyone could download them.

Completely forgot about the Roster Vault. I'm so used to saving them through flash drive, haha. Good lookin' out on the response, though.
And for the record, I just wanted to get my Mike Singletary impression out.

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
Maybe a dumb question but here's what I would like to know. I just finished editing every players music and every stadiums music. It literally took me all weekend(got it Friday). I have the original 60 gig ps3 and have noticed it's been acting up lately. I was gonna go buy a new ps3 today but I'd really like to know if I transfer the roster file and the music files in between ps3s will I have to redo all the players music. I don't really wanna buy a new ps3 if I have to. Any info would be appreciated.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

If you use a transfer cable from the old to the new (ethernet cable in between the system), and use the transfer utility. It should transfer everything over from the old to the new.Maybe a dumb question but here's what I would like to know. I just finished editing every players music and every stadiums music. Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
This stops me buying any training points now. As I am in the UK I have to login on a us psn account buy the points and copy a created rtts save toi my main account. I guess I could play the game on my us account but then I miss out on adding the trophies to my main account plus have to re add all my friends.psn - lisbonlion (MLB The Show); lisbonlion79 (everything else)Comment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
Me and my buddy would do the exact same thing. What I wish they would do is not reinvent the wheel so to speak every year with the game. Just release like graphic updates, mlb player/stadium related updates, or work on new features like an actual online franchise and then release that for like 20 bux or something. Do that for say like 2 or 3 years and then re structure the game with the new growing technology, rinse and repeat. Like if they would have just done that with 09 then released like $20 player, stadium feature, etc updates and then they could revamp the system and released this yrs game. But I know its all about $$This is really some BS. You should have the intrinsic right to be able to backup save files in case of a hard drive crash or hardware failure. You can use the backup feature to backup all your saves including protected saves but you can only restore protected saves to the console they were backed up from. So, if your PS3 breaks (YLOD usually) and you buy a new PS3 or send it to Sony (who sends you back a different system), you won't be able to restore those protected saves. You literally have to go to a 3rd party to get your system fixed and be able to retain your protected saves.
I know most of the time the Developer decides to lock their save files. However, I blame Sony for every protected save because protected saves are allowed for by the firmware which is made by Sony. If the firmware didn't allow for protected saves, they wouldn't be possible.
If this was done for trophy purposes, this is complete BS because trophies are literally meaningless, but having a backup of my save file is very MEANINGFUL.
If this was done to stop people from sharing training points or whatever, it is still unacceptable. Sony, find a way to keep people from sharing stuff without removing basic features. The only reason the PS3 got hacked is because Sony removed the OtherOS feature.Comment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
Thing is Sony doesn't really have to do this to protect the integrity of save data. Why don't they just encrypt the data more securely to prevent casual hex editing? You won't stop the most determined hackers like geohot anyways, so why frustrate the vast majority of users who just wish to have a few more creative ways of enjoying the game?
If they intend to go cloud, they should go ahead and do so already. I've had my hard drives on my PC failing a couple times over the past decades, and after the experiences, I learned to back up everything on physically different media at the very least.Comment

Here you go. This will explain to everybody why you can't copy your game saves. Want to be able to play your game save from any console? Become a playstation + member. Problem Solved. Worried about your PS getting the YLOD and losing all your gamesaves? Become a Playstation + member.
CaptainZombie actually quoted this is the PSnetwork thread I just copied it.
Sony will soon allow PlayStation 3 owners to back up their game saves to an online storage, allowing players to access their save data from any PS3 console.
The feature, which will be available as part of the system software update (v3.60) tomorrow, March 10, 2011, can only be accessed by PlayStation Plus subscribers. No word yet if cloud saves will become available to non-subscribers. A Sony representative told IGN, "We haven't announced any plans for it to be available to everyone at this time."
Sony says that up to 150MB of game save data can be stored and a maximum of 1,000 data files per PlayStation Network account. Users can check the amount of space left via the XrossMediaBar. "Copy-prohibited save data" is also supported and all previously backed-up save data can be restored once every 24 hours.
Sony also notes that "most" current PS3 titles will be compatible with online storage for game saves, but that all future titles will support the feature.
When the update goes live tomorrow, PlayStation Plus subscribers can access the online storage feature following the instructions below:
To back-up:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to back up.
3. Open up the option menu using "Triangle" and select [Copy].
4. Select [Online Storage] as the destination of back up.
To copy:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility] > [Online Storage].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to copy.
3. Open up an option menu using "Triangle" and select [Copy].Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. If this is the case, I guess I will be a PS+ member. I was on the fence for so long, and it does have other features to go along with this one. Here you go. But will those copy protected saves re-apply to new hardware due to failure?
I would assume yes since in the cloud, they are tied to your PSN account. But who knows till it comes out.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: No Copying of Saved Game Files Kills Me...
If this is 150MB TOTAL, you can only save six or so franchise files per account. Is this 150MB per save file?? I mean, this is such a tiny amount of space for paying $50 annually. I pay twice that amount for my own web site and come with much more space and all the other goodies!!!
I actually keep save data for each season of franchise and RTTS so that I don't have to see the season stats getting erased at the end of the year. I cannot even do that any more it seems...Comment
