Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
I don't understand this comment at all. No trade clauses don't exist in the game, so how could you ever say it is an unrealistic trade in the game, when a feature of real life is not present. You have to work with what you have. As for the trade, Kouzmanoff is a 3B, not 1B, and really not the key pieces to the trade, imo. I would image that Stassi is the best piece of the trade for the Rangers. Stassi would end up filling that hole at the catcher position. Sogard is a very serviceable middle infielder that could back up Kinsler and Andrus. If anything, the guy from the A's is the one getting screwed here. He gave up his starting 3B, future catcher, and highly serviceable utility guy, all very young, for a 3B that is young in name only and not that much of an upgrade over Kouz.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Ok with the all star break over, it is time to look towards making that pitching move, or else doing nothing. I can get any of the following pitchers straight up for my top catching prospect, Max Stassi. Below are the comparisons to my current catcher, Kurt Suzuki.
Suzuki: Age - 29; Contract - 1 more year of $4 mil; R/L power - 60/71; Arm - 92; Blocking - 96; Fielding - 65
Stassi: Age - 22; Contract - 2 more years at $1.5; R/L power - 59/61; Arm - 83; Blocking - 84; Fielding - 78
Pitchers available:
Sea - Cliff Lee
TB - Johnny Cueto, Matt Garza
SD - Chris Volstad, Aroldis Chapman
Arz - Roy Oswalt, Mike Leake
Was - Jordan Zimmerman
So what do you guys think? I could probably get the same deal for Suzuki, or an even better one, but I am not about to trade away my all star catcher when I am still in the playoff race.
In Lee's debut, he gave up 2 earned and struck out 14 for the win. I really like this trade. His second game was not quite as good, giving up 6 in 7 and 2/3 work while fanning 7. It was not really his fault, though, as it was one of those really offensive games for both teams that just can't be helped. The only downside to this trade is that it turns out Lee is on the retired list when I simmed ahead. So I gave up a top notch catching prospect to a divisional rival for half a season of an Ace pitcher. Let's hope I can make it all the way to the big stage this season.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
I just started a Angels Dynasty and I looked through at what I could get. I haven't accepted anything, but wanted to show you what I could get.
Trade 1:
Angels Get: Ricky Romero
Toronto gets: Bobby Abreu
(Dont remeber how much percent)
Trade 2:
Angels Get: Mike Moustakas
Royals Get: Scott Kazmir and Brandon Wood
(This was about 50-60%)
Trade 3:
Angels Get: Jason Werth
Washington gets: Bobby Abreu
(100% for some reason)
I was thinking about that Romero trade becuase I hate Kazmir and then I could trade him and Wood, Who I also hate, to the Royals for my future 3B. Bobby is getting old and I have some good OF prospects also.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
I brought up Josh Donaldson as my backup catcher to replace Stassi, but Donaldson on the game is barely at the level of a AA catcher, so I went shopping. I offered Clayton Richard, who is now obsolete after the Lee deal, to the Rays for Kelly Shoppach. The Rays have much better catchers, so this looked like a pretty good deal. The interest meter was full so I figured I would have a decent backup catcher for Suzuki at least until the end of the year. The trade was rejected. Wow, that hasn't happened before. Then I get a trade offer pop up that was J.P. Arencibia for SP Chad James. It turns out that Arencibia is pretty much a failed prospect at this point (in the game), the Blue Jays have a younger A potential catcher that is better than him, and James is an A potential starter that is now their 5th or 6th best overall pitcher. So the deal looked pretty good and I accepted. Now I have a backup for Suzuki at very little cost to me and the Blue Jays have some future starting pitching at very little cost to them.
I still need to figure out what to do with Richard though. I had Quentin go on the 15 day DL so he isn't taking up an extra roster spot at this point, but when Quentin comes back I will have to make a move somewhere. Any idea what kind of prospects I could get for Richard?Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
In my Show 10 franchise, Lee was on year 3 of a 5 year contract with the Mariners before the trade. Still, he will only be 35 when he retires. A bit ridiculous, but that is how The Show does it. It is determined by the draft. If I had had a different draft, then perhaps Jeter would retire instead of Lee. It is what it is. My fondest wish for franchise is to have the ability to offer mid season extensions to players, fire coaches mid season, and be able to attempt to talk a player out of retirement, if not the ability to edit the retirement screen to force plays not to retire.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Your trade for Young makes a lot of sense. All I said is that you had to give up quite a bit for him, which seems like what it would take. Your use of Willingham, on the other hand, does not. He is in real life the A's best player, at least right now, and the best power hitter on the team. If you want to platoon Sweeney, which I fully understand, I would platoon him with Coco or DeJesus. That is if you are looking for reality. If, however, on the game the Hammer sucks, then I see your strategy.
I also agree with you about Barton. I have never been a fan and can't quite understand the appeal. He would be riding the pine on at least 25 other teams, but the A's do things differently I suppose. So how is Carter doing for you? He won ROY award for me in 2011 and has put up 20+ home runs for three straight years now. I have him full time DH since his fielding is atrocious. How about Matsui? Is he hitting well?
If you are looking for a left handed power hitter, not counting Matsui of course, I would recommend Adam Dunn, and then Carlos Pena. Both guys are now on my team and just rake. You could probably get Pena pretty cheap after the Cubs fall out of contention again in June since he only has a one year contract. That is if no one else beats you to it.Comment
