I feel like a lot of guys would just dump Ellis off on whatever team will take him, no matter what. But, I look for a reasonable excuse to trade him taking into account things like injures, team record, etc. I'm not just going to trade him to the last place Royals for one of the good prospects or the last place Nationals for Bryce Harper. Because even if they would trade Harper for Ellis (or Ellis plus another player or two) it just doesn't make sense for them to do that. If you know what I mean...
    Hmm.

    Tell me more.

    Never heard of this.

    Really interesting idea.

I decided to take a break from the A's, and give a run with the Nats...

I'm in July right now, and I'm in last place, and trying to win now. My pitching has surprisingly been decent, but my offense is atrocious as I am in the late 20's in ever statistical category.
Werth has been awful. Zimmerman has been subpar. LaRoche has been mediocre. Desmond's been a bust. Pudge is shot. Morse is playing like he's back in the minors, etc...

I want to make 1 move for a bat. I had to decide between Colby Rasmus, who reportedly asked for a trade, IRL, and Grady Sizemore, a free agent at the end of the year, who will most likely be out of Cleveland. Sizemore has also had serious knee issues in the past few years, and is just returning to form. The Indians are out of it, so I asked for:

      Sizemore

      For

AJ Cole (A Potential 19 Year Old 1st Round Pick Pitching prospect. Nats best pitching prospect. Tearing it up in AA ball.)

Sammy Solis (B Potential 22 Years Old, 2nd best pitching prospect.)

Chris Marrero (9th best prospect on the farm. C Potential 2 years old. 1B)

      Fair?
How's Sizemore doing in the virtual universe?

Depending it might take another B potential guy or even another A.

I'm trying to acquire a decent 1B prospect, a la Chris Davis or Chris Carter type, and rotation depth, like a Kevin Slowey or Joe Blanton type.

What positions/players would the Rangers, A's, or Twins be looking for from the O's organization?

Any other suggestions for an "available" 1B or SP, and what that team would be looking for?

Okay, I'm using the Full Minors roster and I did a fantasy draft, but when I try to make ANY trade, it gives me the "That's an interesting offer, but it's not what we're looking for at this time"

I'm even trying to trade Jason Heyward for their worst player, and it gives me that same thing. Any help on this?

Indians fans chime in...I traded a B pot Starting pitcher, who had a 3.5 ERA and was 24 for Tony Sipp (he is one of my favorite players) to give me another lefty in the pen. Good trade?

Sipp is without a doubt our set up man this year and has been lights out up to this point (0.00 ERA, 0.57 WHIP, and 6 Holds in close to 9 Innings Pitched). I think it is a great trade for you! The Indians are pretty high on Sipp I know (he's 27 now), I am unsure what his potential is in the game but I would expect it to be either a B or a C. The Indians in real life probably wouldn't trade him (especially if they are in contention at all) but I think you picked up a very underrated late inning reliever.

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition

Not sure if free agent talk belongs here so what the hell. Just finished up my 2013/2014 off season. Everything went somewhat ok, with a few top guys sticking around unsigned. That is until after the arbitration period passed. Then a bunch of teams started releasing players. I figure the CPU didn't figure this into account when it signs players and then has to cut salary after they lose big number arbs. Here is the listed of players cut:

                  Brandon Webb - Dodgers
                  Jake Peavy - Rockies
                  Michael Brantley - Pirates
                  Prince Fielder - Brewers
                  Roy Hallady - Phillies
                  Tommy Hanson - Reds
                  Johan Santana Mets
                  Clayton Kershaw - Nationals
                  Josh Hamilton - Rangers
                  Hanley Ramirez - Mariners
                  Miguel Cabrera - Tigers
                  C.C. Sabathia - Yankees
                  Ryan Zimmerman - Orioles

I am having trouble justifying all this, even in my pretend world. I was able to sign both Hamilton and Fielder and then trade them back to their teams for their worst player, but the rest of the teams don't have enough money for me to do a sign and trade. I guess they are going to have to sit in FA a whole year. With Fielder and Hamilton, the CPU made the trade and then DFA them, so they are in AAA not even on the 40 man roster. Hopefully they will get the call up as soon as someone gets injured.

On to my off season. I was able to sign Grienke to a 1 year $5 mil contract, since he sat in FA the whole year. In my fantasy world, I pretend he had TJ surgery. If he does well, he can sign with another team next year since I won't be able to afford him. I should be able to get a pick out of it as well. Cliff Lee retired on me, so I am without a quality 5th starter. I figure I will give Kyle Drabek, Tyson Ross, Fauntino de los Santos, and Clayton Richard the spring training to battle it out for that spot. So far, none have really done much to impress me. If they all suck, I might have to consider signing Halladay, mostly so he doesn't rot in FA a whole year.

Depends on how good the potentials are now. I'd imagine the Padres would like one of them, at least, to be ML ready or near ML ready.

I went ahead and did a test by signing up Halladay just to see how well I pitch with him. I have to say, he is a lot of fun. I only pitched two innings just to see if I like his pitches and delivery, so I don't know how he will do over several innings, or from the stretch, but it is making the decision even more difficult.

Boy, the Giants have a high asking price for Buster Posey.I am surprised the Giants would be willing to take on 20 million in salaries. Here were their demands:

                          2B Brandon Phillips
                          CP Francisco Cordero
                          1B Joey Votto

I would have gone for it if they had let me substitute someone for Votto, but they wouldn't. I did see there were a couple of C/As I could trade for Hernandez, so I'll do that when the time comes.

Catchers should demand a high price. They play a premium position. I would be upset if you could easily get ROY players that play premium positions for next to nothing.
