Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds

    mrs;

I think you're doing something wrong....unless of course your idea of "top tier" FA's is different than mine(and tabarnes....he's the one who did the original testing of the "no training" method).

Here are the FA lists that I just got from simming with
    -The OSFM Opening Day set
    -EVERYTHING to AUTO
...and keep in mind...this set has CAP glitch players(the face glitch guys) which are A potentials who really shouldn't be...so if there was a problem it would be even more evident with these players in there.

    2012

    2013

    2014

    2015

    2016

In each(except the 1st) of those seasons...at least one or two of the players got signed off the FA list during season as well.

I'm very much okay with the players on that list ...with their diminishing ratings and advancing ages in each of those seasons...and that's five...it is much of the same in 2017 and 2018.

No, that's not quite what I'm seeing. I've seeing A overalls who ask 15-18 million end up with no bids if they make it past the exclusive signing period. All Type A FA. I've seen it with 2 different franchises, players like Felix Hernandez not get any bids because teams are busting their player budgets and having to cut players to stay under. I've got training manual and unchecked for all teams, yet the budgets are still out of whack when I leave things on auto. I'm using a custom set based on your spring training one, except I imported some players from the PV and did some edits. I'll just have to do things on manual.

Like I said...something is not right with YOUR setup.
Either you don't have the game updated properly with the patch, or you're not following the setup that tabarnes laid out.
This doesn't happen when those parameters are set and followed.

I've got the patch, and I have everything set to manual. Just an idea-did you and tabarnes check anything beside the FA rolls in spring training? I think both of us are right-you're right that you'll only see second-tier players in FA(unless you cut one of the expensive players to get a team under budget), and I'm right that player budgets are an issue past the 3rd year and A overall players get few bids and are signed at a considerable discount.

Technically the FA bug is gone-you won't see any A potentials or A overalls in FA at the start of spring training. They'll all sign in early or middle February at like 1 yr, 3.0 million or 2-5 with things on Auto.Check on that sim you did to see what sort of contracts the name players signed for-i'm seeing players like Adrian Gonzalez get 12 million, others get 6-8, and some like Prince Fielder get 3. Just let me know what you find out.

Well now you are bringing in something else.
The FA bug was that teams were NOT signing them.
If you follow tabarnes' suggestions they will.
To tell guys that what tabarnes suggested is not working is wrong.
If you don't like the contracts...that's another thing.
Also....I don't see teams with busted budgets either. They always have some working money after the off season.

Re: MLB '11 The Show: Tips and Work Arounds

Something came up today while I was playing and wanted to know if there was a way around it. I brought in a relief pitcher in the 8th inning of a game and after the 1st out he injured himself during the at-bat and I was forced to bring in another pitcher. Upon bringing him into the game he came in cold and I figured since he was coming in for an injured pitcher he would automatically be warmed up. Of course because he was cold I ended up giving up the game-winning home run to Carlos Lee when a Fastball that should have been down in the strike zone ended up being floated right over the middle. When a pitcher is injured in a game isn't the team allowed to warm up a pitcher? Is there a work around for this in the game?

                There isn't.
I too was under the impression that he should be warm already.
I'll ask Kolbe about this when we I get the chance.

Did you just bring him in, and you had to face the batter right away, or did you at least get your 8 warm up pitches? It won't help much with a pitcher that's dead cold, but the warm up's do raise the warm up bar.

I wouldn't mind even if you had to manually warm him up on the mound like they do for real (pitchers coming in due to injury get as many pitches as they need to warm up properly), but something other than dropping a pitcher in there cold has to be done.

I'm using Knight's full minors opening day roster for my roster. I'm getting ready to set up a 30 team control franchise. Basically I want to control the every day lineups/pitching rotations of all the teams, who the cpu calls up from the minors when guys get hurt, and trades between the cpu teams. When I say control trades I don't mind the cpu teams making trades between each other, but I want to avoid unrealistic trades (team like the Phillies trading for Fielder when they already have Howard)

Based on what I've read I believe I understand how to control the FA problem with just setting the training to manual and unchecking everything, and I also believe I have an idea of controlling possible goofy cpu trades by just setting the trades to not be accepted right away and I can check them everyday.

Here's what my settings will look like I plan on keeping lineups/rotations, 40 man roster, and training on manual and everything else on auto for the 29 teams I will not be directly playing their games. My question is in regard to all aspects (setting lineups, avoiding the F/A problem a few years in, etc) of setting up a 30 team control franchise. Do I need to create 30 different profiles and assign a different one to each team? Or Can I create just two different profiles, one for the team I am going to use and play during my franchise, and the other profile set to control all the other 29 teams?

Also the last thing I just want to make sure post patch that if I sent the 40 man rosters of all 30 teams myself the last day of spring training that they hold through the regular season, but the computer will still give guys rest?

                    Thanks for the help guys.
I am also curious to have this answered. I've read this whole thread and the tips on page one (several times) and I had no problem running a 30 team franchised on last year's version. However this year I'm confused. I've tried setting a "custom1" profile for 29 teams and then "custom2" for the tigers. It won't keep the settings for the Tigers even if I set all teams to custom1 under settings file assocation and the tigers as custom2. If i choose the option of "beginner", "expert", etc. it won't keep my gameplay options from game to game. Am I missing something? Did I not start the franchise properly in the beginning?

Tried starting a new franchise just to test. Set the Tigers as custom2, 29 others as custom 1, selected all 30 for user control. CPu roster control off. I go into the franchise and the tigers show custom1 on the top of the screen, but under the settings file association it shows custom2. I'm just not following what I'm doing wrong here.

I just have a question and didn't know where else to ask this, but in my MLB The Show '11 game I have added songs from my hard drive to the game but they wont show up in the batter walk-up music portion or the other editable options in editing a player for music. Can someone help me out with this?

I believe it may be that you don't have the one you want to set as the Tigers as the default. Try that. It's on the USER SETTINGS page as well.

Nope when I have the tigers as custom2 and choose "use as default" it changes the other 29 teams to custom 2 also. I want to be able to set the rosters at spring training (so everything is manual for everybody) and then put a everything but training on auto after opening day with trades delayed so that I can make sure they are "fair."

Just not figuring out what I'm doing wrong. Last year's 30 team control seemed quick and easy to setup. maybe I lost IQ points over the year.

You can still change those other teams to a different profile though.
I have the setup you like as mine right now and it works fine.
I have the Mets as my profile(METS) and the other 29 teams as Custom2.
I control only the training/lineups for those teams and everything except banking/transport/media for my team.

Try this though....delete those old profiles and make YOUR profile first and then the secondary profiles and set yours as default.

Can someone help me out with this?
Check where you added them. There are four sections: Jukebox (menu, during practice), In-game Cues (walkup, homer etc.), Yells, and Chants. You probably added them into the jukebox.

                                Knight,

When you were talking about your workarounds for the free agent problem post patch and getting it so some of the elite free agents would hit the open market instead of all of them resigning with their current team in the exclusive period, do you have to step in and make the low ball offers every offseason or just starting with the 2016 off season before the 2017 season starts?

                                Thanks
