      Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR

Yeah, Knight pretty much represents us MOM people on these early screening events. If it wasn’t for him, they probably would consider taking the mode out altogether. BUT Knight every year seems to get on them about the mode. BUT as Russell stated in his previous post, it’s not good business strategy to put more time on something that maybe 1% of the players are playing.

Honestly, if they got rid of MOM, they’ll lose me as a customer. I wouldn’t be mad about it because I’d perfectly understand the business and resource side of it. BUT it’s still there so they’ll get $60.00-something dollars from me this year.

        Re: Community Day....FRANCHISE and EDITOR

The way I see MoM is it still has a potential to explore what is (currently) a niche market for the Show, perhaps being on console... I haven't gone totally a MoM way only because it's possible to actually play this game with all the user input and still come up with nice sim results. ... and perhaps I still retain enough neuromuscular reaction to enjoy the current pace of the game.

But I do love watching CPU vs. CPU games and if actually playing it totally makes the Show an arcade game, then I would've only used the MoM... With the animations, AI., it's a thing of beauty to watch IMO. I just run a game while I cook, doing some reading, etc., only to check out the results and replays at the end of the game. To me it's good enough for that purpose as well... I would make it my screensaver, if I can (no, please don't... then I won't get any work done...).

Back in the day I used to look for online baseball leagues using games like Front Page Sports Baseball etc., just to check out how stats/standings come out, etc. So I tend to believe there are people who would enjoy online franchise without ever actually playing and controlling players.

Being an exclusive title on a console, it's actually harder for sim players like that to notice how good the Show would be for that purpose. (Heck, I didn't even discover the Show thinking an arcade game on a console must not be that good.....)

Given the Show has so much going and has done so much stuff right already, having that capability to offer online franchise mode for mostly MoM players I'd think isn't a stupid idea. I definitely think it's something to consider as offline/online franchise gets more seamlessly integrated in coming years.

I'm an avid MoM player and absolutely love it...never messed with the trophy thing, I just play my franchise this way. Please remember us that do love the mode and always leave it in

There would be alot more MOM players if it wasn't changed to just be playable in Franchise mode. I used to play it in exhibition mode all the time.

Okay... that's kind of hilarious. Says a lot about SCEA though that they continue to even give this mode the time of day when it interests only 1% of the market.

Considering the YTD sales of the Show, according to vgchartz.com, is 460,000 copies, 15 MoM players constitutes only 0.003% of the total users. You MoM guys are truly a rare breed...

But I honestly believe the MoM mode can do better than this depending on how you market the Show... not to mention a lot of gamers probably won't even go onto PSN so they won't get counted in Ramone's number (for one I usually avoid SNS to become a marketing data point...).

Knight, has the out of town score ticker been upgraded a little from last year or is exactly the same? I'd really like to know what point in the inning they're at (top middle bottom), instead of just seeing the number.

Thanks for your dedication in answering every single question.

I didn't look at that specifically.
Also, I only got in perhaps 3 actual games.....so I can't even say what has, if anything has been added to it.
                          Sorry about that.

Yes, but...........For every MOMer that doesn't get counted in Ramone's number, there are likely to be many, many more non-MOMers who also don't get counted. Any way you slice it, MOM players are a very fringe group.

                              That may be true...

Nonetheless, my point is that the quoted "15 - 20 out of half a million" is not truly representative of the *yet-unexplored* demand. Of course it's not like I've done any marketing research on the popularity of MoM... but I myself grew up playing a bunch of MoM-only baseball game since mid-80s (never released in US I believe, called "Best Play Pro Yakyuu"... man I played that game like madness...) and other MoM-only text-based sims since, and I imagine that people playing all those games now would be ecstatic to see their baseball played on the Show's gameplay engine.

To be honest....MoM only needs a few things.
I would love it to be re-written as a true gameplay mode and heck...maybe they will assign someone(or group) the task....that would be ideal.
But even if they left it basically as is...a CPU vs. CPU game in which we can interact for the most part, they would really only need to add a few things.

                                1. The ability to play head to head online. Two person Manage only Mode. If they could do it on one PS3...great...otherwise just online against another human opponent would be great.
                                2. Make it an option of play in online leagues.....vs any other mode of play. Why not?...I'm sure as long as the opponent knows up front.....and will play....can't hurt!...
                                3. Get rid of the 6 second countdown. Not necessary any longer. We 15 know we've got 6 seconds to step in if we want!
                                4. Give us the ability to choose a pitch type....then a pitch location instead of the counter.
                                5. Give us a "hold runner" button(this will keep someone from b&m'ing a bit)
                                6. Let us see the opponent bullpen and expand the lineup cards(make them lineup cards.....greying out used/injured players.
                                7. Let us have the ability to tell pitchers to butcher boy /swing away

                                That's about it....
