Even though I doubt Diamond Dynasty is this, I'm hoping it's a Road to the Show like mode, but where you take over a real player that is already in the game and play through his career.

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
I just think the online servers are so lackluster and laggy that an online mode is not a smart idea. I know they said they are trying to improve that problem for 12 but I just don't know if it can get done. For some reason all of my experiences with baseball games online (2k and the Show since 2005) they have all been laggy no matter what. I just don't see it getting fixed because if it hasn't been figured out already, I just don't think it will. It's not a big deal to me because I love franchise mode and that's why this game is so flipping good. So really I'm just hoping and praying its an offline mode that doesn't involve opening packs of cards. Either way it will be cool to have a new mode to check out.NHL-Minnesota Wild

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
That's what I've been saying all offseason. I would love to be able to play as Derek Jeter to finish his Hall of Fame career, play through the prime of Troy Tulowitzki's carrer, or start Bryce Harper's Hall of Fame Career. Or just play as my boy Joe Mauer.Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
For those who may remember an online game called UBO (Ultimate Baseball Online)...This is what I think this Diamond Dynasty may be.
You would create no more than 3 different players and play as just 1 of those players with 8 other people on one team and have a 9-on-9 game online. Your player would get leveled up depending on how you did during a game. You could set the max level for players to join your game as well. This way someone at level 44 couldn't play against a level 1. If you could only get say 4 people to play on 1 team the computer would field the rest of the positions on the field. Also you wouldn't have to sit thru computer batting either because the computer never batted and it would just go back to the top of the lineup even if you just had 4 human players.
There were fictional stadiums to play in.
You could create a team (kinda like a clan but it is a sports team) with a custom logo and choose uniforms for the team and stadium. You could invite your friends to join your team and schedule games between other teams or join a league where there was a schedule and everything. It also kept up with your stats so you knew how you were doing.
This would kinda compliment the RTTS mode offline and could allow people to use their RTTS player online in a mode similar to this.
This may just be wishful thinking on my part, but, I enjoyed it even tho you had to use the keyboard and mouse to play it.Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
To me, it sounds like a multi-player owner mode, similar to MVP - but multi-player has never been done before. Madden had an owner mode, also...but not multi-player.
I think it would be cool to have 30 owners online managing their teams...that would be neat.Comment

No company would ever spend time to do it, because you simply can't rely on nine players to coerce as a team together. This goes for any sport, except maybe hockey. Just imagine somebody gets up to go to the John, and a line drive goes by him because he wasn't there. Imagine every baserunner thinking that they can steal, and being selfish in attempting to do so.
Besides, what about substitutions? Are we just going to throw those out the window, or are we going to have 25 players connected per team and have some players sitting on the bench? Maybe it'll be like PlayStation Home, where you can just roam around your dugout and do dance moves.
Of course, this doesn't go without spectator mode. I will choose to be the fan in the right field bleachers who makes everybody get up as I proceed to and from the aisle stairs. I've built My Fan for a while so his daily stadium budget is a little better than that of the hot dog combo meal, but I'm still shortchanged on lemonade snow cones at the end. I've caught one batting practice home run ball after Miguel Olivo tossed it into the stands once, but I'm still trying to get that trophy on throwing an away team home run ball back.
Sorry I went on that extremely sarcastic rant there... I'm just trying to give indication as to how far a customer really could take it if they begin with these implementations. Frankly, servers aside, I just don't see the manpower devotion (either by development team or the users themselves) to make a 9 v. 9 game possible. It's cool in theory, but it just can't work as imagined.
I do hope they find the next cool thing to step up with in My Player, though. Maybe they can do online Home Run Derby mode or something. One other thing they could do (unless they already have it as a feature) is allow you to upload/download other people's My Player players. This would work excellently with friends who want to share themselves, so you don't have to create them or download an entirely separate roster (assuming there could be a way to append individuals onto an actual roster file). That way, you could at least play with 50 different My Player's... but the other users themselves wouldn't be playing with you, just their players.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
This was brought up in the 2K forum two months ago, and just as my speculation about D.D. was, this one would have many flaws outside of just its technical flaws.
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043104663
Of course, I was merely bantering about the ridiculousness of a mode like this with him, but it would be improbable that this could work well at all. Getting at least 18 RttS players each paired with unique positions (two pitchers, two catchers, two left fielders, etc.) to play head-to-head ball just doesn't seem likely.
I cannot comment on the technical obstacles that such a mode could entail, but I wouldn't totally rule out the possibility in future... just because such a mode must be fun, haha.
I think this year's game will have some online HR derby mode in which quite a few gamers can hit simultaneously, and the ball paths will display. That was in an earlier interviews, IIRC. So at least a "dumbed-down" mode is already in place.
For gathering 18 players at once, I can see that could be a problem (it is already a problem in most online leagues). But it may be possible to have CPU play for those who are not controlled by HUM. In a way it makes sense, because for a team sport like baseball, it is always difficult to gather enough players to play with (where I live, there aren't any opportunity for baseball... softball/cricket is a bit different, but...). And mixing HUM and CPU allows us to have that kinda opportunity... virtual baseball, and I think one of the advantage of baseball video game is to create such an opportunity. So while it may not make sense to try to do this at this point considering the effort and resource, I think ultimately, it's worthwhile to think about the possibility...
And I may be misinformed, but I read someone talking about how FIFA has such a mode, where multiple players can play in the same game... if that's true, then perhaps it's possible with baseball.Comment

I figured somebody already mentioned 9-on-9 anyway, which is why I never brought it up.
I honestly thought of the thing with the CPU aiding in positions where you don't have anyone either, but I thought Russell or somebody else mentioned that this mode will be both online and offline capable. Maybe the offline component would be as I said in that post, that you get to download other My Player players and have them on your team.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

"unique look at baseball" - from the game informer interview.
it seems this thread has become less of an evaluation of the evidence (speculating) and more about you guys trying to invite your own modes
