Aww, after resigning with the Twins for an AAA contract for two years, I was sent down to the AAA after starting the year in the majors. Granted I was just coming off an injury and had more K's than hits.

Hoping it was just because of the injury.

Maybe not hitting far enough homeruns? Do you have the HR camera option on? From my experiences, it seems like the HR cam is random.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Got called up to the show my second season towards the end of July. I started the next day in LF at Minn. First at bat struck out, 2nd at bat lineout, 3rd at bat hit a solo HR to RF, 4th at bat ground out. I only played 7 games and had 19 at bats. Started the 2014 season by signing a contract to be AAA bench. Wasn't happy but I figure I can play my way back to the show. I got the spring training invite and hit only 240 1 rbi and 8 k. When the seasons started, I was on the MLB bench. Have been playing like crap so I was sent down to AAA at the end of april.

Tried giving RTTS another chance. Got traded to the Mariners, and actually got to be an everyday player...for 2 weeks. Although I had by far the best numbers on the team I was batting 9th in the lineup. I was hitting .500 (only 2 weeks into the season) and I was just demoted to the bench because "I have continued to struggle"

            WHAT. A. JOKE.

Small sample size. Just because you were hitting .500 in 2 weeks doesn't mean you weren't still swinging at bad pitches, playing poor defense, etc...

Within a few weeks of getting called up to AAA, I got put in with 2 outs in the first after Pawtucket was down 9-0 to Norfolk. Pitched 5.1 shutout innings and was moved into the rotation after the game. I see a Major League debut before the end of my 1st season at this rate. Currently 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in 3 starts now and something like 5 or 6 relief appearances.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Started my career as a 3B for the Giants (Squirrels).
                First game: 3 RBI Triple

After 1 1/2 month my stats are slowly declining, but still at .345.
I have 23 RBI, 3 HR, 3 Triples and around a dozen doubles.
Never had such a good start in a career.

I use Zone Analog and I am absolutely loving it. It is perfect for me. Analog Hitting alone often left me angry becuase many perfectly timed hits in the wheelhouse were poor contact swings which i could not influence at all. And I never liked the idea to swing up and left or up and right for inside or outside shots. Now I can influence contact and timing which is great!
But I have to predetermine where I expect the ball. I can hardly believe that there are really guys out there who can move the left swing in the right position after the ball leaves the pitchers arm??

But it seems that I have a good instinct for where the pitchers places his throws. So I am fine.

Do others also have the impression, that the pitchers in AA in MLB 12 are weaker than in the past? Or ist it just coincidence, that most pitchers leave their throws in the wheelhouse?
After around 130 ABs I don't have a single Base on Balls. In MLB 11 I was a 60-70 BB/season guy. So it's not that I can't be patient. But until now I didn't have many chances for a BB, because the pitchers give me many great hitting chances. Also, until now I only have 8 strikeouts. Normally my AB/strikeout-ratio is 4:1. Now it is 16:1.
Another indication for (too?) many bad pitches.
Or is it just the Zone Analog Hitting which helps me to reduce my strikeouts?

The future will show. Especially when I play against MLB level pitchers

Are you meeting your advancement goals? If not, they tend to penalize you and I think that's what they might of done. You must hit your goals when coming up through the bigs. You should try and get at least 3 out of the 4

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Forgive me if this isn't the proper place to put this question, but it directly relates to my RTTS career and I didn't want to clog up the board with another new topic.

In MLB The Show 11, I was normally an infielder, so I rarely had to contend with fly balls. This time around I decided to make a left fielder - got drafted to the Dodgers (yikes!) and have gotten a dozen or so games under my belt.

My question/concern - I have switched off any sort of assist in my player movement (i.e - when the ball is hit, he won't take a step or two towards the ball) however I am noticing when a ball is hit anywhere except in front of my player, he ends up taking one or two steps in the wrong direction, which is costing me dearly at times.

For example: A fly ball is hit back behind me. The camera, which was facing home plate now flips back and is looking at the fence. To my perspective, I should be holding "up" on left stick to move back to the fence, however he will take a step or two towards home plate as if the input is lagging behind the camera (still thinks "up" means towards home). By the time it corrects, it's either a close play or a dropped ball.

Just to make sure I wasn't doing something subconsciously, I've even placed the controller in my lap to make 100% sure I didn't leave on any sort of assist.

Any ideas, suggestions on how I can correct this? Or is there a preferred camera setting you outfielders use that would correct this?

                      Any help is appreciated!

Noticed something strange, my SS had a lat muscle strain and missed like 3 games, when he came back i had to meet my goals 2 times in a row plus perform well just to get my starting job back?

First off, RTTS is the best career mode I've played in any sports game (this is my 1st time with MLB The Show).

Started a SS drafted by Astros, quickly traded to Indians. Tore up AA in year one and then was tearing up AAA in year 2 and got called up for month of July but played terribly in Cleveland and was sent back to AAA for remainder of season. Tore up AAA again to start year 3 and got called up to Cleveland 1/3 way into season because their SS got injured. This time played great, kept meeting my goals and became permanent starter (although Cleveland sucks in this game).

Through April of year 4, I'm batting .368/11 HR/32 RBI so off to flying start.

Couple of issues/questions. I spent the better part of the 1st 3 seasons increasing my batting abilities. My SS made tons of errors (esp throwing). I then increased throwing ability and accuracy to 75 (from mid-40's). I'm finding that I'm able to make throws I couldn't before - ie, charging hard and throwing off-balance, getting deep behind the 3B and getting a good throw to 1st, etc. So the ability is noticeably increased, but the frequency of bad throws is still the same. I'm literally making a throwing error every 3rd game (I already have 9 in April alone). Am I doing something wrong?

Another thing (just my opinion), I really think the whole advancement goals thing is just bad. It's arbitrary and many times doesn't jive with how you're actually playing on the field. I wish they would go to a grading system similar to NBA 2K career mode. That way every action you take has some bearing on how your perfromance is perceived. You want to be a stud defensive wiz? Go ahead! How about a slap hitter/SB guy? Knock yourself out. This way an organization can judge you by your overall grade and not how many walks you drew while you were hitting .350 with 40 HR! Sorry about the long post, but this is really the one area where the game completely loses the immersion that I love in every other aspect of RTTS!

Believe it or not, I have met all of my goals every week. I honestly think my game is glitched. I've played RTTS the past 4 years and I have never had these kind of things happen to me. Either way I'm not wasting my time on this game mode just to get screwed left and right. I could go on for hours about all the problems I've experienced so far.

I haven't started a franchise yet, but I've played a bunch of exibition games and have had a blast. This game has definitly improved, however RTTS has been a major dissapointment for me.

Randy Johnson is taking over the IL and should be up with Boston in no time. Just pitched a complete game shutout against Syracuse. Stats so far in AAA:

                              4-0
                              57 IP
                              2.21 ERA
                              44 K
                              7 BB
                              55 H
                              1.09 WHIP
                              .257 avg against

Currently 2nd in the all-star voting for SP. I'm easily the best pitcher staff-wise (even better than the million dollar man, Dice-K and I'm only making $75K). And to think, it is only mid-June. September callup sounds real nice... Not quite Johnson-esque as I spent the past 2 games pitching to contact so I could see how deep they'd let me go (8 and 9 IP respectively). Turn a few of those 6+ pitch at bats that wind up being hits or outs into strikeouts and I'll have my 9K/9 back.

RTTS is raw. I made a 2nd Baseman because that is my position in real life. I got drafted by the Nationals then in a month traded to the White Sox :/ Then in August of the first year i got called up to AAA and finished the year there. Then I am automatically in the MLB the second year on the bench (because of Brian Roberts got traded there). I have 5 HR and 11 RBI through May because I never play. Brian Roberts stats dont even touch mine so I should start. I don't get it.
