Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
First off, RTTS is the best career mode I've played in any sports game (this is my 1st time with MLB The Show).
Started a SS drafted by Astros, quickly traded to Indians. Tore up AA in year one and then was tearing up AAA in year 2 and got called up for month of July but played terribly in Cleveland and was sent back to AAA for remainder of season. Tore up AAA again to start year 3 and got called up to Cleveland 1/3 way into season because their SS got injured. This time played great, kept meeting my goals and became permanent starter (although Cleveland sucks in this game).
Through April of year 4, I'm batting .368/11 HR/32 RBI so off to flying start.
Couple of issues/questions. I spent the better part of the 1st 3 seasons increasing my batting abilities. My SS made tons of errors (esp throwing). I then increased throwing ability and accuracy to 75 (from mid-40's). I'm finding that I'm able to make throws I couldn't before - ie, charging hard and throwing off-balance, getting deep behind the 3B and getting a good throw to 1st, etc. So the ability is noticeably increased, but the frequency of bad throws is still the same. I'm literally making a throwing error every 3rd game (I already have 9 in April alone). Am I doing something wrong?
Another thing (just my opinion), I really think the whole advancement goals thing is just bad. It's arbitrary and many times doesn't jive with how you're actually playing on the field. I wish they would go to a grading system similar to NBA 2K career mode. That way every action you take has some bearing on how your perfromance is perceived. You want to be a stud defensive wiz? Go ahead! How about a slap hitter/SB guy? Knock yourself out. This way an organization can judge you by your overall grade and not how many walks you drew while you were hitting .350 with 40 HR! Sorry about the long post, but this is really the one area where the game completely loses the immersion that I love in every other aspect of RTTS!Comment

Heh. Currently leading the NL MVP voting just under 100 games into the season. Hitting .272/.348/.534/.882 with 24 HR and 72 RBI... for the Pirates who currently have the worst record in the NL.
Well, if you say so.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Although I like RTTS a little better that NBA 2K. I find myself thinking about my RTTS guy when I'm not playing and how I need to improve him (I know, I need to get a life). I don't have that on NBA 2k.

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I created a 3rd baseman with the outfield as his backup postion. I went into the draft and got selected by the Giants. I start out for the Richmond Flying Squirrels and I end up making it to the AA All Star Game, I only got one hit in the game but it was a homer to left center field. Shortly after, Got called up to the Fresno Grizzlies and finished the season there. The Giants offered me a 1 year 95,000 contract to the be the Triple A starter but I'm not on the 40 man roster yet.
I had 7 home runs in Double A and 4 in Triple A my first year.
And I have 1 so far a couple weeks into the second year.Comment

Yep, I play 3B and love it. Every so often you get a chance to make a diving stop down the line and gun it to 1st. Turning double plays is fun tooComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I'm a 3B in the Rockies organization, ranked 1/5 in organization. After a quick stint in AAA, sent back down to AA where I play great. We won the Championship in 2013 and now I've signed a 2yr $912,000 with Rockies MLB as bench player.
I'm pretty pumped to be called up and I'm wondering if Spring Training play will affect whether I start on Opening Day or am I likelu to be a Rockies bench guy for a while???

Playing as a starting pitcher...drafted by the pirates...
Did really well in AA earning a promotion to AAA in late April. Made the futures game and the AAA all-star game then was promptly traded for a relief pitcher to Colorado...
I was called up to the majors on July 30th and the rockies were 4 games out of first. I went 12-0 with a 2.87 ERA for them in the last two months of the season (got insane run support and had a very low BA on balls in play so there was some luck involved)...rockies win the division by 4 games and then I went 4-0 in the playoffs as the rox won the WS.
After the season is over, got offered a 4 year $32 million contract and I take it. It's now mid may of 2013, and I've yet to get out of the bullpen...I am the best rated starter on the team too...

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Randy Johnson is definitely on the path to the majors.
1 IP with 2 K in the Futures game.
Followed that up with 2 scoreless innings while starting the AAA All-Star game (in NY for some reason; supposed to be in Buffalo, even if it is a fake park).
Next start? Yet another complete game shut out, this time of Buffalo. Even the Mets minor league teams are in shambles!
Stats so far in mid-July at AAA Pawtucket.
17 GP
10 GS
9 quality starts
2 CG
2 SHO
6-0
85 IP
2.01 ERA
65 K
9 BB
1.01 WHIP
.243 AVG against
If I don't get a call-up in September, I'll up the pitching difficulty to HOF. My timing on the meter is far from perfect, but I'm starting to get enough control of the pitches that walks are few and far between. Doesn't help that these guys get behind 1-2 and 0-2 and then will start free-swinging a bit.
Oh look! My next start is against Syracuse. Who I already have a complete game shut out against. I could go for 2 in a row!Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
so It's August of my first year and i just called up to the Majors by the Cardinals, after being traded from the Marlins.
Wasn't doing that great in the minors 12 HR's, 45 RBI, .304 AVG 17SB - but STL has no 2B so I got the call upComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Finally finished the 2012 season as a Double-A reserve for the Angels. Rather than letting us finish out the season, we made the playoffs (ugh). We had a bye and were the top ranked team in the league.
We lost in our first series and I played one game.
I batted around .210 with like 17 RBI and four steals.
After a couple scorching weeks to start 2013 (as a reserve again), I'm now the starter and am hitting around .350-.400 (small sample size) with several doubles. Batting in the middle of the order, but I think I'm the only guy who stayed in Double-A from last year's team. Hopefully I'll be able to get promoted pretty soon, but one of my goals is to hit a dinger and my guy is not a power hitter.#24Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I got sent down to AAA Omaha at the end of april 2014 after I couldn't get a hit to save my life. During the next 3 months I sucked. Couldn't get a hit, struck out way too many times. End of July it finally happens. I get traded with a scrub catcher to the Oakland A's for kurt suzuki. First game with AAA Sacremento I go 1-4 with a 2 rbi single. Over the next 2 weeks, I hit 4 homers (2 in one game), drive in around 8 rbi's and steal 4 or 5 bases. I think Omaha is missing me now. Well hopefully I can get called up and play with Oakland in september.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
The Red Sox find me too valuable and vital to their team to consider trading me, or at least that is what they claim in the interactions. Might have the secret to not being traded (and it isn't cheating by changing injuries). Just have to be that damn good.Comment
