I'd try for Brett Pill though for sure. He'd be a good addition to the Pirates lineup.

No in no way are they looking to trade him, I'm just saying that if there was a right deal, like a juicy one, theyd pull the trigger.

They're both lefties aren't they? Wait... Smoak is a switch hitter isn't he? Interesting, he would probably be pretty expensive though wouldn't he?

In regards to Goldschmidt, he's got a pretty long leash within the organization, but he also has lost significant playing time. The only thing that really assures him that long leash is the lack of suitable replacement. Matt Davidson could be a 1B at some point, but the Dbacks are equally weak at 3B which is his primary position.

If no miss 1B prospect or a solid current 1B came along in a trade, Goldschmidt would be expendable, but the 1B free agent market is awful in 2013 so it'd take a lot to pry him loose.

that was exactly what i thought...Overbay is NOT a long-term fixture for them so he'd be the 1B by default at worse for at least this year prolly

Do you think the DBacks would take a 1B prospect along with a few other prospects, or would they need a MLB ready 1b or 3b?
