I am the Kansas City Royals and I have made a deal for David Price and Desmond Jennings. I am trying to build for the long term and I have now realized that Price is going to really strain my payroll and handicap my financial flexibility going forward. Price has also had command issues lately and I just want to be rid of the situation. I have scouted several players and these are ones that I like a lot given the circumstances.

Gio Gonzalez
Jordan Zimmerman
Edwin Jackson
Trevor Cahill

I do have tons of pitching prospects that I can deal as well so I am not limited to just these. I guess I'm looking for a player that is ace caliber and that I will be able to retain for quite some time at a cheap cost. My ceiling on dollars per year is going to have to be around 8M. I think I want Gonzalez but I would like to have a few more opinions before I make this potentially Franchise Changing decision.

I recommend looking at Bumgarner. He's signed for the next 4 years and is only making 700K per year! Look back at the last few pages, and you can see what I gave up, and why I gave those players up! I got help from this threads user, and they helped me concoct a trade. Hope this helps!

well Adam Jones just signed a long-term deal with Baltimore so idk if u care about that aspect or not but if not, he'd cost u at 2 A's and a B.......and while ur on Baltimore, how are Johnson, Lindstrom and Gregg doing? since they might be options for your bullpen

Him, Jordan Zimmerman, and Zach Greinke all interest me, but I have a feeling they will all cost too much(ESP. Considering I just traded for Bumgarner!) Sowahat would each of these players cost?

In my current Rays franchise I am in the second week of July and just got this trade offer from the Giants:

Ben Zobrist

I receive:

Emmanuel Burriss
Gary Brown
Joe Panik

I am right around the .500 mark but am pretty much out of the division race since I am in 4th place 10.5 games back of the Yankees, 7 games back of the Red Sox and 2 games back of the Blue Jays. I am also 5th in the wild card race so there is little chance of a playoff berth. I also need to plan for the future which is where Brown comes in. B.J. Upton is a free agent at the end of the year and will command more money than I want to give him since the Rays have such a low payroll. Brown will also be major league ready on opening day of 2013 to take right over for a departing Upton. Burriss will immediately take over Zobrist's spot in the #2 hole but will not be re-signed at the end of the year so he is just a rental. Panik will actually be groomed to be the everyday 2B and should be ready by 2014.

As for the Giants, they are currently in 1st in their division with a 1.5 game lead over the Dodgers. They are also only two games behind the Phillies for the best record in the NL. They have a gaping hole at 2B right now and Zobrist still has two years left on his contract and is an A overall and is currently hitting .286 with 13 HR, 39 RBI and 8 SB at the moment and will help them immensely on their playoff run.

Even though the CPU offered it to me, is this a fair trade?

I proposed a one for one swap sending David Price for Madison Bumgarner however he suffered a head fracture before the giants could accept so i guess he's not a option now.
