Not so much a trade, but a free agent question.

I am about to start a Cubs franchise (again) and Soler is currently a FA on these rosters. I don't want to assign him to the team before I start but I don't think his 9 years/$30M deal in real life will apply well in The Show.

Should I try to just do that exact deal or maybe scale it down to like 5 years/$15M? I don't want to be cheap and sign him for like $300K even though I know the game would let me.

He won't take any deal more than 3 yrs in my franchise

depending on how long that other starter is out and how the rest fo the rotation looks, Sanchez might or might not be needed....but remember to post back in the thread tonight when u do check.....yeah it's best u add to ur farm system for guys u dont wanna re-sign...i'd only trade Butler and Sanchez if i get a bundle back tho cause i think they're both relatively cheap in the game

ok the nationals are 2 games behind the phillies in the and 2 games up on the brewers in the wild card and there only closer is out for the season (drew storen) seems like a good place for Soria.

the tigers have already aquired james shields for they traded Valverde for him ????? verlander still has 3-4 weeks and portecello 1-2 weeks looks like their rotation is smyly, below, shields fister and scherzer. they have no closer and 2 first baseman so im not sure butler fits there.

josh hamilton is out for 1-2 months for rangers whom lead the division by 6.5. Francour? or maybe Jerrod Dyson. Dyson has 37 steals and is hitting .256

with the Nats, they technically have an assortment of guys that can close so Soria probably wouldnt be their #1 target but if they didnt have to give up an arm and a leg, yes i can see him there....with the Tigers, with Verly and Porcello returning soon, Sanchez wouldnt be a huge priority for them unless a current member of their rotation is awful.....with the way Frenchie was producing for u, dont expect anything more then a C prospect in return

I could always throw n an arm like Volquez. He's only 28, and is doing good, but I just don't have the ability to resign hm. Almost everyone's a free agent(the once thing I don't like about game), and Mike Minor is about to become an A pot. He is ready to get the callup, so Volquez(or Richard) is movable.

He isn't much of a throw in.

It's not that bad is it? They get an B++/A pot 3rd baseman(I have DH turned on for NL) and we get a shortstop. I could throw in another filer prospect if needed.

What dollar amount do you offer? I want to keep it somewhat realistic but I know it is a unique situation that the game probably isn't built to understand.

Maybe offer him like 2 or 3 years, $4 million and then make up the difference when he's a free agent?

Panik is pretty good..... it'd take Gyorko and another prospect close to him, but not as good.
