Why is that my problem? Have you seen what happens if you sit around and not accept a deal? They get traded to another team anyway.

I had one franchise where a rival was built completely by trades. I looked at the roster foundation and probably 80% of its top players were acquired by trade.

I'm not trying to take advantage of the CPU, but I am certainly not tied to players like real GMs might be. I fully intended on declining the A-Rod and Tex deals from the get go, but when I need to restock my minors and they're providing the opportunity to do so (for players who are quality, by the way) I'm going to do it.

All of those prospects, with the exception of Profar, are still in the minors three years later. I have seen zero return yet aside from SS (and he's barely hitting as the No. 9 batter).

Its a problem if you like realism...its a problem if you want your Show to resemble what could and possibly will happen IRL. Hell its even a problem if you don't care for realism and only care about fairness.

There isn't any realism in any of the rest of the deals the CPU makes. I'm trying to keep up. That's all.

And ACMilan, I get the point, but I'm not going to get stuck at the bottom of the league because I didn't deal players.

There's already talk that A-Rod might get dealt in real life, too. Oh and if I didn't think he and Jeter were going to retire right away (like they won't in real life) I would've kept them. I needed to get something to replace them.

Some people are more interested in realism and fairness, but I guess you aren't.

with all the bs trades that happened during my sim, is there anyway of rejecting trades during the off season? when i used to sim without 30 team, I would see kershaw for wade miley type deals and of course players with no contracts being traded. when i go to transactions, there is no pending option, just completed

I don't believe so. Now if you have 30 team control on now, you could just turn off CPU trading in the offseason and make deals yourself (or don't which is what I do, unless there's a big blockbuster on the horizon or whatever I want to do.) And also, you could just trade back the players in question with 30 team control on.

However, without 30 team control any efforts to make things realistic are damn near impossible sadly.

My good sir, this would be incorrect. At the start of your franchise, you can turn it off, but once you start, it's either on or off, no changes.

I meant under the profile...you can turn the CPU trading off by going to your second profile (the one controlling the other 29 teams) and change the trades from "Auto" to "Manual". I should have made that clearer

I want to give a contract to my 1B prospect J.Summers. I want it to be realistic and fair. He will be up in the majors in 2013 and I Want to lock him, up very young, for the long term (8-10yrs). Should I offer a contract like that or go thru arbitration then offer him a monster? Just curious?

There isn't really a way to rebuild your team unless you want to try to draft guys and wait for years and sign middling FAs then. Hell, I have Garrett Jones as my 1B.

I've tried fair trades. The CPU is never interested unless it is whooping my *** in the deal. I've offered plenty of deals where it's even and helping both of our 'wants/needs' and are even in money and ability. Not interested unless I am completely screwed by the deal.

I have to completely overwhelm a team just to get a decent player, even when they're completely out of the running.

There are never any options in the offseason for FAs. And when there is one, they almost always sign with their original team despite an offer blowing the OT's away.

So when they come back and offer me something of value for something I don't need, I do it. The only deal I think might be "unfair" was the A-Rod one since I figured he'd be gone and they'd have traded a couple prospects. The others I traded steady players for prospects.

There's always 30-team control and the feedback you can get from us fellow gamers here on the boards. Always someone online that can help on determining a fair value in a deal or a specific player.
