throw-in and quality are quite contradictory of each other...i'd tend to agree with throw-in

Headley, Gose, and D'Arnaud/Arencibia. I think it'd take some convincing, but he'd play LF. Worst comes to worst, we DH Bautista. Extend his career for a few years.

I really couldn't see the dbacks trading Upton unless they got some all-star caliber 3rd baseman (or shortstop due to Drew's injury concerns). He's probably the most well-liked player in AZ. But I've been surprised before

I'm thinking Mike Illitch will force Dombrowski into looking real hard into J-Up. Thinking Castellanos would have to be a part of the deal along with an arm like Andy Oliver or Jacob Turner (plus others). Wouldn't be surprised if Joe Saunders is packaged in the same deal coming over to the Tigers as well since he'd be cheaper than Wandy

I just don't see them trading Upton. 90% chance he stays. As Upton doesn't like Detroit he's on his no trade list

Diamondbacks are not trading Upton unless another team opens the doors to their entire organization and lets the Diamondbacks order off the menu.

Headley? Please. Arizona could get mediocre power numbers and a .270 average from half a dozen guys in their organization at third base. I can't stop laughing hearing the trade value the Padres are holding Headley to. I love a high OBP guy as much as anyone, but a corner infielder with 44 home runs in 2500 Major League plate appearances is not all that intriguing. That's just me.

It would take 3 or 4 ELITE prospects and/or instant Major League contributors to get the Diamondbacks to ship Upton anywhere. That already limits your potential buyers to about 5 teams. I'd say the Pirates have the deepest system and the greatest need for Upton's talents (Good God will someone help Andrew McCutchen out), but the top prospects in their system are pitching and OF, neither of which the Dbacks are in dire need of. Not saying one of Cole/Taillon plus Bell and someone isn't a good haul, but the Dbacks need 3B bad and an in house replacement for Upton already exists in the form of Parra (who should be starting in place of Young every day anyway).

The Blue Jays have the deepest farm system in baseball but I can't say any of them would trip Arizona's trigger. They just locked Montero up with a long term contract, so D'Arnaud has nowhere to play unless I can learn to play third like the Royals are experimenting with on Wil Myers. Gose doesn't fit in with the organizational philosophy of Arizona. If they wanted a plus power, free swinging outfielder with raw tools they'd keep Upton. The only reason Upton's name comes up for falling out of favor in AZ is because of his chase rate.

The Tigers? Eh. One of the weakest farm systems in baseball and Castellanos and Turner wouldn't be enough. Castellanos fills a major need but Turner probably would be the 3rd or 4th best pitching prospect in the AZ organization. You don't trade a guy like Upton to just improve (vastly) at 3B and get a 4-5th man in the rotation.

I don't know of many other organizations with the right combination of major league ready contributors and to prospects that would require Upton's services or entice AZ to ship him.

Yea I can't really see him being traded. The one chance I could see of a 24 year old power house with all the potential he has of being traded would be for another guy just like him (you know.. like if he refused to play another game in Arizona or something stupid).

You realize Headley plays half his games in PETCO, right? Anywhere else, he hits 20 HRs and at LEAST .290. And I'm SURE the Jays could put together a very convincing package.

I am playing as the Braves. I just traded Jurrjens(0-6 4.75ERA) and Venters (6.75ERA) to the D-backs for SP Cahill(5yr remaining on contract).

Think of the fans too. Upton is probably one of, if not the most, popular players in the organization

That is what I love about the CPU. They put this guys on the trading block with years remaining on their contract. I am going to play 2 or 3 seasons, so I am trying to have a fewer of the 1 year contracts going into the off season.
