Synder could give you at least 7 home runs 25-35 for a decent catcher.

7 homers and 35 rbi's for a year isnt exactly everyday-starter production lol

Yea I know but he could be a decent backup somewhere else. Personally I liked Olivo in KC. I guess his catcher mask is what I liked the most. Shipping Synder and a ptbnl for Mathis is probably my best bet in regards of a catcher.

True. It is maddening though when he allows a passed ball and a single turns into a double. Only thing I can say about Olivo is that he's got an absolute cannon for an arm and throws out a lot of guys.

                Re: Da Astros

Just won game 3 of the season 7-2 over the Astros. Now 2-1 to start the season. I tried a new approach to offense. I decided that no matter I was going to take until I got 2 strikes on me and then just try to fight off pitches till I got a lucky hit somewhere. Well it worked. I gave up an early 2-run homerun to Helton in the 2nd inning but then really settled in and made good pitches and when I did make mistakes lucky for me center-field in Houston is where balls go to die.

But that approach really worked for me. In the 3rd inning my SS who's the 9th place hitter in my lineup got a 3-2 count and then I jumped all over a change-up and ripped it into the seats right down the right-field line to tie the game at 1. Then my next batter Schafer got a walk. (my first walk of the season) and then I stole 2nd but Schafer got hurt on the play and had to leave the game and I had to put in Mitch Maier. But it wasn't a total loss as Maier got down a key sac bunt later in the game.

But I kept working the count and by the 6th inning Jhoulys Chacin was starting to get tired. I hit a solo homerun with Francoeur to tie the game at 2. Then later in the inning after a Carlos Pena single I doubled him home and got the lead 3-2. Then in the 7th inning the pitch count really started to show as I started getting hits against Chacin and then they put in Belisle and I was hitting him too. I ended up with 4 runs that inning.

Good news! The injury to Schafer was just minor! No DL!

And Olivo has some power. I remember him with the Marlins. He always lit up Tom Glavine. But he wasn't the only Marlins backup catcher that used to give Glavine nightmares. The worst was Mike Redmond. I don't know what the deal was with Glavine and Marlins backup catchers.

Bingo! Totally agree with his arm. The stragey I using Olivo would fit perfectly. If the Astros could've a lot close games then things could bright with Olivo behind the plate.

I am absolutely killing it with Jeff Francoeur and Matt Joyce.

Francoeur is got 5 hits in 11 at-bats and Joyce has gotten 6 hits in 7 at-bats.

I got 4 stolen bases in 3 games. I have plenty of speed on my team. Stolen bases is another area that Francoeur has over Bogusevic so that fit the style of team I wanted.

I love stolen bases almost if not more than I do homeruns! Stolen bases can make the opposing defense look foolish!

Are you looking for a starting catcher or backup? If you want a stop-gap starter, Olivo wouldn't be a bad choice, especially in the NL. If you want a backup, Mathis would be ok for defensive purproses but Snyder is your best bet for some offense.

Don't know if he was there on the last roster, but this mornings roster has RP Rhiner Cruz, a young "B" potential guy that looks dang good. I'm going to move Myers to set-up with Lyon, and convert Cruz to CP right away. His clutch is low, but his FB velocity is insane.
Thanks for helping out, I'll help if I can. Have a good day :)
