Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I am the Red Sox in late May looking to get a good 4th outfield bench player.

Marlins/Mariners/Astros/Dbacks/Cubs are the worst teams in the standings at the moment.

Mainly was looking at Ruggiano but could also use some other suggestions with players I would give up. Using OSFM

Rajai Davis, Emilio Bonifacio, Gerrardo Parra, Franklin Gutierrez, Jordan Shafer, David DeJesus, Justin Maxwell?

Alright, trying to keep it as realistic as possible so..
Narrowed it down to these guys

        Ruggiano
        Gutierrez
        Shafer

Would Vitek/Hassan be fair for each of these?

Hassan straight up for Ruggiano/Shafer is fine but you'll have to add more in than Vitek/Hassan for Guti.

Would Ike Davis for Mitch Moreland, Joey Gallo, and Luke Jackson be realistic or is that too much? Btw I'm the Mets.

You're giving too much. Davis for Moreland, Gallo, and Robbie Ross would be fine.

I'd drop Carter Capps (instead of Wilhelmsen) and Peguero to the Padres for Maybin. Getting a young stud arm like Capps for their pen would allow them to trade Street. I think it's crucial that they get an OF back as well in the deal so Peguero would work like you proposed.

With Holliday and CarGo...well it's here where the fairness/realism comes in. I'd opt for CarGo myself as he's younger. Smoak is a nice cornerstone for the deal. Take your pick with Hultzen/Walker as the second piece and then add Nick Franklin. Might wanna add another young arm for their pen as well like Stephen Pryor
Thanks for the comment back. As far as fair and realism, I would lean more toward both.

I like the idea of CarGo but I would be adding 50 million in payroll over the next 4 years vs 22 million over 3 years for Holliday. So I would really want him to be the franchise guy offensively if I am going to commit that much money.

I like the idea of Maybin because he is tied up for 3 yrs at a low cost 630k per year. Didn't really think about putting in Capps because I really like him and want him as my closer, and need to deal Wilhelmsen because he wants more money then I want to pay for a 30 yr old closer. However I will try the deal some other ways including some B level RP who are young or add in young SP like Pike or Gohara and maybe a 3B prospect incase they lose Headley.

well just 19 games into my braves franchise and andrelton simmons goes down with a torn acl...needless to say i'm going to have to find a one year rental because i refuse to play paul janish for the rest of the year and i don't trust pastornicky's defense.

any thoughts? i want to keep it realistic, so maybe a tyler greene or mike aviles are a couple names just off the top of my head.

Brendan Ryan is an awesome buy-low candidate.

I am in June with my Brewers franchise and I would like to get an ace pitcher. I was thinking of David Price. The Rays have one of the worst records in baseball. So I would think they would be willing to trade. Who would I have to give up to get Price? I don't want to give up Braun or Segura. Thanks.

The Brewers don't have the pieces to get Price IMO... Their farm is barren

If you don't give up either of those guys you won't get an ace.

Was thinking the same. In order to get the prospects needed, or match up to his value, Braun will most likely need to be included.

Ehh, I just don't see it happening. Maybe if they dealt Gallardo and Lohse for prospects and paired them with Segura they could get a true #1 type.

Well Braun being back the most, but the offense would be gone. Therefore have a Felix Hernandez type situation. I'm at my phone right now, but I believe the spreadsheet has Price at three As? I don't know what Loshe, Gallardo and Segura's values are, but it should be reasonable for 3 As. But the Brew Crew just got Loshe, would they be willing to part? (It would be smart because in the end you get a better, younger, cheaper, for now, pitcher)
