Lol, John Buck is completely terrible, but he could get a nice haul with TDA."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Fowler (Think a little devalued because hes missed some time with injuries; healthy now)
Betancourt (ERA around 1 with like 15sv in 16 chances; could work either as a setup or closer depending how Holland is doing)
for
Herrera (remember highly devalued with demotion)
Collins (Also devalued with struggles)
Ventura
Thoughts? Feedback?
Cubs would LOVE a bonafide 3B prospect. They have Christian Villanueva whom they got from Texas in AA, and there's always chatter that Baez will end up at 3rd, but with Baez's slow start at A+ ball and Vitters cratering, Ruiz would be a nice catch.
I do agree with NFG that Oberholzer/Peacock and JD Martinez alone would not be enough for Garza. In fact, given Soler/Almora/Brett Jackson/Matt Szczur, they wouldn't have a huge need for JD.
I'd say Rio Ruiz + Brad Peacock + Max Stassi/Carlos Perez for Garza would work considering Garza's value is pretty low right now IRL.
I also don't think TDA with Nimmo could net Profar, especially since Alfaro might be just as good as TDA a few years from now.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hmmm. So you removed Belisle and Chatwood and subbed in Betancourt? But then again you downgraded from Crow to Collins too... I think your proposal is pretty close, and I might just toss in a C-level MI prospect if you have one due to Betancourt's age. Value-wise this is pretty good, and in your 'chise's universe the realism is ok as well.
He's giving up Fowler, if anything, he needs to be getting more back.
That Rays deal looks like as pretty large overpay for a catcher who can't stay healthy and has a high floor, but not necessarily a Johnny Bench ceiling so to speak. I'd tone that down to Jennings OR Archer.

Meh, all of that is fair- TDA is a prospect that everyone has different opinions on."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah, but he also said Fowler's value has been tempered by injuries/performance, and even at full health he's what mid B + low B? (though he might need a value increase on the sheet if he keeps hitting for power IRL) I figure Yordano Ventura would eat into that quite a bit since he's conservatively a high B, possibly low A.
And Herrera + Collins > Betancourt I would think, even though Herrera is not on the spreadsheet, I'd argue low B at minimum. Though Betancourt does have nice stats in his 'chise.....
So, in short, whatever excess value Fowler has in comparison to Ventura, would imo be made up for by getting 2 solid relievers for Betancourt.
But, yeah I agree with you and think he's pretty close, at least giving up near equal value, with or without adding in a lower 'spect.
As for TDA, you are a Jays fan, right? lolChicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
That's not enough. OP, can I see Fowler's ABs in recent years as well? If he's been somewhat healthy (400+ ABs) this is still unfair."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Like AC said, the spreadsheet is a great tool. Let me know some of that early season player stats and we can help set up a fair deal.
I'm thinking Iglesias could be expendable if Drew is playing well, Bogaerts is progressing nicely in the minors and if the Sox are contending and can get a nice haul by trading Iglesias. If the Sox are slumping and playing poor baseball, they're more likely to give up Drew and give Iglesias AB's in the majors

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys, want to run this one by you:
First year of my Giants franchise. After a somewhat disappointing start and a hefty contract, I've had some offers, namely from the Yankees. I'm thinking of trading
Tim Lincecum (11-8, 4.14 ERA, 5.10million/year, 90 OVR)
for
Eduardo Nunez (SS, .262 15 RBI, 1HR, 510k/year, 81 OVR)
Michael Pineda (9-6, 4.15 ERA, 690k/year, 83 overall)
What do you think?
I'm having problems with production at SS and 2B, namely Scutaro isn't hitting well.
I figure this may get some younger blood into the dugout, and would eliminate Lincecum's massive contract for 2 guys with well under a mil a year.
