Anyway, since he's ready to come up to help the Cardinals in the playoff run, would the Cards put any thought into trading Jon Jay? He's also hitting nicely ( .321/.356/ .456 with 15 SB and a 56.195 RC) Or would they rather keep both for the playoff chase?
I think they'd trade him in the offseason, honestly, seems like a good fit for the Mets.

The Mets were the exact team I had in mind

Okay, I'll just demote Adron Chambers and I'll find a way to get both Taveras and Jay some PT

I think that's a good idea. I'm too lazy to check BR right now, but I'd almost think the Cards would rather keep Jay and let Beltran or Holliday loose to make room for Taveras. Jay is a good leadoff type, Taveras is more of a thumper.

EDIT; BR mention had to do with contract status.

Also, say the Cards get 1800 ABs in the OF total, they can just take 140 from each starter and Taveras would get 420 that way.

Now that I think of it, the Cards can dump Beltran in the offseason and put Taveras in RF. Thanks guys.

Yeah Beltran is a free agent this winter if I'm not mistaken. Would automatically open up RF for Taveras

Or they could trade Beltran at the deadline, get a couple of nice prospects, and still have Taveras in right.

I second this, I know we can sort by potential, but how can I tell the difference between high, mid and low a, b, c and d?

Beltran is too nice to unload in a playoff hunt for the Cardinals. He's hitting .342 with 16 HR's and 58 RBI's a week before the trade deadline

Sort by potential, then look at the OVR rankings. For example, you'll have a list like this:

                      Player A - Pot B - 72 OVR
                      Player B - Pot B - 68 OVR
                      Player C - Pot B - 59 OVR
                      Player D - Pot B - 80 OVR
                      Player E - Pot B - 76 OVR
                      Player F - Pot B - 66 OVR
                      Player G - Pot B - 68 OVR
                      Player H - Pot B - 65 OVR
                      Player I - Pot B - 61 OVR
                      Player J - Pot B - 74 OVR
                      Player K - Pot B - 70 OVR
                      Player L - Pot B - 79 OVR
                      Player M - Pot B - 55 OVR

The OVR is ranked by each subset of potential. For example, Players A-C are the highest B potential players on this list. Then D-F, and so on until you come to the lowest B potential players, L&M. Hope that helps.

With those stats for sure. I didn't read any stats so I assumed that Beltran could be had from STL.
