    Here's what I'm thinking:

Astros trade: 1B Carlos Pena (low C) + RP Kyle McClellan (low C)
Giants trade: C Hector Sanchez (low C) + RP George Kontos (low C)

Pena's at .200 with 15 HR and 45 RBI. McClellan leads MLB in saves with 31 and has a 1.40 ERA. I already traded for Cishek who's doing fine as the new closer, so McClellan's a bit redundant for me.

Sanchez has seen very limited time behind Posey (60 AB or so) and Kontos has been in AAA all year.

Belt's been pretty bad at 1B for SF, like Pena's average but with no power--SF is like 25th in SLG as a team. Romo's leading the league in blown saves, so I figure both Pena and McClellan are a fit.

I like Sanchez because he's only 23 and bats both. Kontos is just an organization arm.

    Fair? Realistic?

Me too, but Cishek is a younger, cheaper option who does the job well also. Probably could keep McClellan on as a set-up guy, but he's an expiring UFA. With my organization budget limit at ~$37 M and being at about $35 M currently (and needing to pay Hellickson and Parra this offseason), I might as well get something back. /Tough fiscal decisions

          Option 1:

There has been some talk of a Profar/Taveras swap, lately. The Rangers definitely need help in the outfield, and a promising CF prospect such as Taveras would be a great fit. The Cards are in need of an everyday SS for the future. In my opinion, Kozma is just a placeholder for the Cards until they find that guy. This, in my opinion, fits both teams, and I would like to see it go through in real life as a Rangers fan, but I wanted to hear your thoughts.

I've been hearing this rumor is mostly sizzle and no steak lately. It seems that it's more pure speculation due to positional needs, but top, top prospects are rarely (never?) swapped only for positional reasons. So, not sure it's realistic. That said, it's pretty fair because Profar is probably 1a and Taveras is 1b as position player prospects are concerned.

Option 2: Wait a while, and trade Kinsler for a prospect package around the deadline to a team in contention who could use him. Profar looks close to ready to call-up (.316 avg, .393 OBP, 9 HR, 39 RBI, and 11 SB through 57 games in AAA). I would be moving Kinsler to fill out my farm system some more, but mainly to open up a spot at 2nd for Profar. I also wouldn't mind seeing the Rangers do this in real life, from a fan's stand point, as long as Profar was ready to be an everyday kind of guy in the Majors.

I like this one better. I feel Kinsler is definitely not untouchable given the circumstances. I'm sure if TEX had to only keep 2 of Profar/Andrus/Kinsler, that Kinsler would be the odd man out.

However, what's probably the most realistic option (and you obviously have control over how this plays out in your 'chise) is that Kinsler relents on his demand to play 2B, and he's moved to LF or 1B. Heck, you can even DH him. Moreland, Murphy, and Berkman aren't exactly blockading those positions.

I can sort of see a Michael Young 2.0 situation brewing here with Kinsler, but I can't really see Texas dealing with it again...I think demanding Kinsler play wherever they want or trading him are in play.

Kinsler would be a nice catch for STL, ATL (if they could unload Uggla first), LAD, or BAL. Keep in mind he's signed through 2017 with a buyout of $8M in 2018, so he'd need a team with deep pockets to deal for him.

Thoughts on which option is better? I believe they are both realistic options, but I would like your feedback.

Could I send him to RF? Cruz has been awful in my 'chise on defense, and I still haven't forgiven him for dropping that ball in the World Series.

I hadn't thought of DH'ing him either. I could send Mike Olt back down by doing this. He wasn't ready (batting around .133 through about 30 games). I'm also going to consider trading him still.

Maybe to STL for Tyrell Jenkins (67 OVR 20 yr old High B-POT SP) + Carson Kelly (63 OVR 18 yr old Mid-High B-POT 3B) + Rosenthal? Is Rosenthal too much to ask for?

              Or

Maybe to LAD for Corey Seager (68 OVR 18 yr old High B-POT 3B) + Joc Pederson (64 OVR 21 yr old High B-POT LF) + Chris Reed (74 OVR 22 yr old Low B-POT SP)?

Not sure I'm trading him, just planning ahead a little.

Sure, Kinsler could handle LF or RF with his athleticism (though his arm is better suited for LF). He probably wouldn't be a nightmare in CF either, though he'd be well below average there.

As far as trading him, I have to amend something I said before...he has a $5M buyout in 2018, not $8M. Also, I just noticed he signed a contract extension that goes into effect next year...so that takes the realism down a notch...not quite a deal breaker, but wanted to mention it.

Spreadsheet says Kinsler is high B + high B + low B. So, the Cards package is a tad too much...is Rosenthal a low A or high B?

I think Jenkins + Kelly + Piscotty/Maness/Adams would be OK.

That Dodgers trade looks good. I think that would work.

It looks like you might want to move Olt since you are targeting 3B prospects? If so, you could probably package Olt with Kinsler to get more in return. Again, the Cards and Dodgers would be excellent fits for an Olt/Kinsler package.

I really don't see the Cardinals trading young prospects for Kinsler as we really value what Carpenter is doing at second, and he's become the lead off man. That being said if you want to do the deal above pick Piscotty over Adams or Maness, as the latter two are contributing now, while Piscotty is still in the minors. Also, adding Olt for the Cardinals doesn't make sense to me. Freese hasn't played well this year, but he's still the hometown hero, and he'll come out of the slump. If we get Kinsler in a deal I can't see Olt being a part of it also. And yes, I agree that Rosenthal is too much, he's a valuable part of a terrible bullpen. (hopefully getting better now though)

Tavares is likely going to end up sticking at one of the corners eventually, not in center.

How are you doing as the Rangers? If you're making a playoff push which I assume you are, would it really be worth sending Kinslers off for prospects (the package you talked about) who aren't ready yet?

What do you guys think SS Pedro Ciriaco in BOS is worth??? He's not on the spreadsheet... They are paying Drew and have Iglesias/Bogearts... As the pirates I'm looking for a replacement SS as McDonald/Barmes are horrible, any other suggestions??? Not looking to sell the farm just need a good young guy to hold the fort until Hanson is ready, then they could slip back into a UTIL role after that...

Another guy you could look at is Jonathan Herrera in Colorado. He is personally one of my favorite players. Very versatile, good glove, works the count, doesn't try to do too much at the plate... just fundamentally sound.
Colorado also has Reid Brignac you could get. Both of those players are worth a mid-lowish C in my opinion.
You could also look at DJ LeMahieu in Colorado as well. He is probably worth a mid-high C.
