Fair enough. I am higher on Bud Norris, so I'd do a deal (already did actually) based around Norris for Olt.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

He's still valuable. And has Olt ever hit above .200 in MLB? Or was it vision problems also when he hit .152 last year (albeit in a tiny sample size)? He also has a 25-30% career K-rate in the minors (not in a tiny sample), which is not particularly promising.
So shouldn't they be a perfect match for each other as late bloomers? Not seeing the logic of your statement other than trying to get in a 24-year-old jab cause you guys can't actually prove its better to debut at an older age.

And for the record, I don't think anyone has ever said Olt is extremely valuable, they have just said that he is more valuable than a 32 year old Papelbon.Denver Broncos

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
For every Adam Dunn you can toss at me, I can toss 20-30 Brett Jacksons back (). Simple fact is it's better to put the ball in play than K, and once you start going over 20-25% K-rate on a consistent basis, it becomes very hard to maintain useful average and OBP levels. Adam Dunn is the exception, not the rule. You have to have 80 power and 70+ plate discipline to make this work...which is rare.
I've never said that it's better to debut at an older age. I just thought it was funny how you started throwing out random things to try to make a point. I really doubt Olt's age would have ever been brought up if say he was 23 years old.. but since he's 24,
And for the record, I don't think anyone has ever said Olt is extremely valuable, they have just said that he is more valuable than a 32 year old Papelbon.
I still disagree. I think Paps would fit Texas better than Olt for the next 3-4 years. I also don't consider Olt a slam dunk to be successful. I'd be a bit surprised if he tops a 3-WAR peak actually.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
And consider this for Olt...
Last year it was strongly rumored that Texas was willing to trade (at least) Olt and Martin Perez for Matt Garza before he got hurt.
Garza of the 3.99 career FIP to Norris' 4.19 career FIP. Norris is also much cheaper and 2 years younger.
So, to me, it's pretty obvious that there is less than a "Martin Perez" difference in Garza and Norris' value (is 0.20 in FIP worth a solid B prospect?), so Olt for Norris should fly.
It would be the ultimate "in your face" if this trade actually happens IRL. We'll see what Houston actually gets when they inevitably trade Norris, but it should be able to tell us if I am right or wrong.
EDIT: Norris career xFIP = 4.03, Garza career xFIP = 4.04 if that matters to you.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 05-25-2013, 12:07 AM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

That could be, but if the in-game situation for the Brewers is anything like in real life where Axford is ineffective and Jim Henderson is hurt, Milwaukee might wish they had brought Veras back. I mean they re-signed K-Rod too out of the blue, and he might be closing for them soon.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Never said it was irrelevant, but as AC said, it's not going to make or break a player. I don't really see much wrong with a prospect being 24.. 24-25 is a good age for someone who is about to break into the bigs. And it's not even that he's not capable of playing in the bigs, it's because he's behind 3 solid players that play his position.
I will say that mentioning Profar is pretty irrelevant.
Ok, forget I said 32 year old Papelbon.
A reliever making what? 11m a year and his best days are behind him. He's not worth a position player with his best days in front of him.. and on top of that, he's a highly thought of prospect.Denver Broncos

Montero's catching days are over. He is strictly a DH now, but the club will try to teach him 1B... I doubt it works - he's the most un-athletic player in baseball. He's strictly a bat moving forward, and the jury is still out. His value right now is low I think, though at 23, I am definitely not giving up on him.
Zunino is a guy the M's would have s tough time parting with, so the deal should be very legit.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm currently 51-34 with the Red Sox and am looking for a SS and a 3B. The Angels are currently 43-43 and 9.5 games behind the Rangers. Erick Aybar has been splitting time with Segura at SS and has only hit .221 4 HR 14 RBI over 41 games. What would be a fair trade for Aybar?Madden 25 - Steelers

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
The CPU pulled off this trade without me having a chance to review it. Luckily I'm using 30 team control so I can take it back.
NYY gets: Hisashi Iwakuma & Jesus Montero
SEA gets: Gary Sanchez & Mason Williams
Is this plausible in any way? I'm thinking I'll have to take it back. It's not like the Yankees need either player that badly. I think they've got a good enough lineup even without Montero and catching-wise he's not going to help them. And they're giving up a couple of A POT prospects.Last edited by mockme; 05-25-2013, 11:00 AM.Comment
