To further clarify about this pitch, it does move like a sinker moves on The Show more than anything. But besides that and its often movement as a 2 seamer moves on The Show, it also gets a lot more straight downward movement on it many times and appears as a splitter does on The Show and a straight changeup does in real life. Keep in mind, he throws this pitch around 91-93 mph. It's one of the craziest and most unique pitches in baseball.
Call me crazy, but the more I look at that gif, the more i believe that that pitch was his changeup. His fastball does not have that slight hump (for lack of a better word lol) at the end but his changeup definitely does, and I wouldn't doubt that felix can run his change up to 93 lol

I wish there was a way to analyze the gif frame by frame because the more I stare at it, the more I convince myself that I can see the "OK" symbol that is typical of circle change grips, but enough about felix, can't have this thread be all about him as much as I would like it to be

Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers needs a 4 seem FB that tops out at 99 mph, with little to no movement. He doesn't throw it often, but he busts it out when needed, especially late in games. I'm posting from my phone, so i can't post a link, but i will post one as soon as possible

        Player Name: Cliff Lee
What Pitch(s) needs to be added or removed:

Cliff Lee's primary fastball is a 2-Seam fastball. At least according to fangraphs.

I know for a fact that he throws one but he doesn't have one at all in the game.

Also, according to the same link, his repotoire should be something like this:

        X: 2-Seam Fastball/Sinker
        O: Cutter
        Triangle: Change Up
        Square: Sweeping Curveball
        R1. 4-Seam Fastball

        http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfx.asp...636&position=P

        Player Name: Vance Worley
What Pitch(s) needs to be added or removed:

Vance Worley's primary out pitch is a cutter that he uses as a slider. The pitch is thrown using the same grip as Cole Hamels's cutter. He threw it about 21% of the time according to the article I have linked below.

        Player Name:
        Antonio Bastardo
What Pitch(s) needs to be added or removed:

        Remove: 2-Seam Fastball

He didn't throw one last year:
        http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfx.asp...844&position=P

        Player Name: Roy Halladay
What Pitch(s) needs to be added or removed:

The Velocity on Roy Halladay's sinker should be increased. According to Fangraphs, his average velocity on his 2-seam fastball/sinker is 91.9 mph.

In the game, I typically am around 87-91 with his sinker. In real life it's probably 89-92ish... about equal with his cutter.

It should also be his secondary fastball. He DOES throw a 4-seam fastball, however not nearly as much as he throws his Cutter/Sinker. It, in my opinion should be his 5th pitch.

        X. Cutter
        O. Sinker
        Triangle. Sweeping Curve
        Square: Change Up
        R1. 4-seam/running fastball.

TAMPA, Fla.Charlie Manuel has not named his opening day starter yet, but you can bet the ranch that when Big Chuck gets around to it, Roy Halladay will be his man. Halladay has already made nine opening day starts. A tenth would be quite an honor, right, Roy? Honestly its never been a big deal to me, Halladay said after…

Re: MLB 12 The Show Pitch Repertoires Corrections Thread

Also, I'd just like to throw this out there about Cole Hamels... it's not a huge deal (at least for me, personally) if you guys don't edit my suggestions into the roster as it's something I can do fairly easily myself, I just feel like his pitches are kind of out dated.

              Player Name:
              Cole Hamels
What Pitch(s) needs to be added or removed:

No pitches need to be added/removed, however, in 2010 and 2011, the two years he first featured his cutter, he used it more than his curveball.

              X: 4-Seam/Running Fastball: 52.9%
              O:Circle Change: 24.7 %
              Triangle: Cutter: 12.1 %
              Square: Sweeping Curveball: 10.1%

In addition, I feel like his velocity is outdated.

Playing around with him yesterday, I found I was around 88-92, very rarely hitting 93 mph (I use pulse pitching). with his fastball.

In real life, he's added some velocity to his fastball. I'd up it to about a 71-72 rating in the game personally as he typically pitches in the 91-94 mph range consistently with the ability to hit 95mph.

His average fastball velocity according to fangraphs was 91.2 mph.

As a result of his added velocity, his change up velocity has actually increased as well. I haven't seen Cole Hamels throw a 78-79 mph change up in a while. He typically is around 81-87mph with his change up.

His average change up velocity accoring to fangraphs was 83.4 mph.

I feel his curve and his cutter are fairly accurately represented:

              Average CB velocity: 76.2 mph
              Average Cutter Velo: 88.5 mph.

I watch almost every Phillies game I can so I'm fairly certain I know what I'm talking about, however, a link to fangraphs:

                  Alexi Ogando

                  Alexi Ogando, Texas Rangers:
Using Pulse Pitching in Training Mode, His 4FB was 90-92.
In real life it averages 95.
If this info is readily available on the internet, why doesn't SCEA just put the correct data in the game when they make it?
Why are we having to go around and clean up after SCEA?

It's on Fan Graphs, but I can't post links until I've made 5 posts.

I don't consider it a huge deal to go back and improve some of these rosters but it's frustrating for me personally, if I want to just play a quick exhibition game I have to go through and edit the rosters.

I'm not a huge stickler on the pitch types as I've seen some 4-seam fastballs with movement in this game but the misrepresented velocity is a concern for me.

In MLB 11, for instance, Brad Lidge could still throw 96mph and 87mph on his slider... He hasn't been able to do that in years... in fact, he was down to 87-89.

According to our pitch data, Robertson has thrown a cutter slightly less than a quarter of the time in 2011. Sitting at 92-93 mph, the cutter moves in on left-handed hitters (away from righties) about three inches more than his fastball.

                          Clay Buchholz, Boston Red Sox

Buchholz's in-game repertoire is the repertoire he featured in his first few years in the league, but in the last two years he's reinvented his game. Big change is that he has ditched his slider in favor of a CUTTER, and throws his 4-seam FB much less. He now features the following pitches (with frequency):

2-seam FB/Sinker/whatever you want to call it (36%)
                          Cutter (19%)
                          Change-up (17%)
                          4-seam FB (15%)
                          Curveball (13%)

Basically, he's a FB-Cutter-Change pitcher now. His curve is more a show-me pitch than an out pitch.

The only way I could get Alexi Ogando to throw the correct 4FB velocity was to increase the speed of his Slider. So now his Slider is too fast! His SCEA fastball is 96, but since his real-life Slider is so much slower than his fastball, the Show's logic wont let him throw hard enough.
I'd like to see this fixed.

Pitch types and velocities can be found. Putting them in is hard, but doable.

Does anyone have any info on a formula or way to accurately rate movement and control on a given pitch? It has to be weighted against a league average, obviously. Rivera having a 90-something on his cutter movement perhaps, then moving down from there. Also, how can we assign BB/9, HR/9 and things like that?

I've asked this question in the full minors thread, because I know Razr and others in previous years have done things like this. I'd be willing to do some of the work, if one of the more experienced people here could just point me in the right direction.

I just played a game against Ogando and he was consistently 95 and above. He's fine.
