Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Im going to edit my first round draft pick at the end of the first year. So you do you guy's think the Cubs will draft? I am stuck between Mark Appel and Sean Manaea. I may base it off what the potential is. If I do that then if the guy I drafted is an A+ then Ill make him Manaea. If he is A or A- I would make him Appel. Cant remember what his potential is from when I scouted him. Thoughts? I have heard Appel is farther along but Manaea has a higher ceiling.Comment

I haven't found them. But I think MrOldboy created some extra guys not sure if those two were among them. You might want to pm him and ask if he has them.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Yeah they are looking at like six guys or so. Gray is going to be really good but you could say that about 4 of the top guys with Stanek included in there. I'm leaning towards Appel but I forgot about Gray. Who do you think will be in the majors first Appel or Gray? Haven't heard any ETA for either this year but last year some gave Appel a late 2014 or early 2015. It really just depends on how they perform though.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Appel will make it up first. He is going to move very fast. Early 2014 is likely, some even think he could pitch in the big leagues this fall! Unlikely that would happen with the Cubs given their organizational philosophy, but basically could be as soon as early/mid next season for Appel.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
We needed this for our discussion earlier. Here is the comprehensive top prospects list. This is basically the best list you will get, it ranks them based on all the best top prospect publications.
Also, just to point out, it highlights my point about the large gap between Almora and Hawkins, and the much smaller gap between Buxton and Almora.
Top Prospects List
ETA: Cubs have 7 of the top 190. (White Sox have 2)
18. Javier Baez
30. Albert Almora
35. Jorge Soler
98. Arodys Vizcaino
129. Dan Vogelbach
155. Brett Jackson
165. Jeimer Candelario
71. Courtney Hawkins
127. Carlos SanchezLast edited by hjgilber; 04-18-2013, 11:54 AM.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
I have a few guys created, just haven't finished them yet, just been sidetracked with other stuff. The problem is that whatever I create won't have faces.
I didn't notice OSFM v2 came out, I've just been using another roster version so I didn't feel the need to get the updated set. I noticed Almora was down to a 69, Soler still a 75. Lake didn't get the arm strength bump. Baez is still low as well at 67. Its strange seeing Lindor at 73 with Baez being a year older than he is. So the changes didn't really seem to get in, but I guess they are at what the OSFM guys think they should be at.
If you are using these rosters I'd go with what yanks posted earlier.
Baez 73
Soler 74
Almora is probably fine at 69
Lake's arm in the low 80s, going off of Knights tables for very good/eliteComment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
I haven't seen anyone mention this, but Daniel Vogelbach throws right-handed. In the OSFM roster (I only checked v2) he throws left-handed, which isn't right. Wasn't sure where else to bring it up.Comment

Re: Cubs Player Potential Discussion: 2013 OSFM roster
Soler is going to be the cubs #1 prospect by the end of the year
Quote me on thatComment

Lol that's not a very bold prediction. It has at least a 50% chance of being true, if not higher. I also kind of expect that to happen. Not due to Baez struggles, just due to Soler being an absolute monster.Last edited by hjgilber; 04-26-2013, 10:54 AM.Comment
