Playmakers MLB 06 All-Star level sliders

    Playmakers MLB 06 All-Star Sliders (03-28-06)

My biggest gripe was laser arm outfielders and everyone of them being too accurate IMO. I also wanted more tension in the game and bumped up errors because I didn't see many at all. Even at 20 I still don't see that many but the risk factor has picked up with both arm strength and accuarcy being toned down. I Maxed out CPU aggression on the bases aswell to get more base movement.

All Slider numbers are listed from far left (0) to far right Max (20). So a value of 20 means maxed out for example cpu base running aggression.

Thanks I will try these CPU vs CPU.

I play in GM mode. and only watch the games for my team.
Madden Xbox and PC 25 (CPU vs CPU), Footbal Mogul 25 (CPU vs CPU), Front Office Football 9 (CPU vs CPU), NBA 2K23 (CPU vs CPU), and several Military and 4X PC simulations.

haven't you noticed the insane ammount of infield hits with arm strength at 5?

I play on HOF with an arm strength at 4, or -6 from default. This setting passed the "David Eckstien" test....(him going deep in the hole and throwing at an average runner by a step). I'm pleased with this setting for the CPU which also has the same setting for arm accuracy. I also, use this setting for human play but caution. You need to be comfortable with the "pre-determined throws".

I've seen solid play from the infield even with arm strength and accuarcy set at 5/5 on both sides. More close pays buy nothing that doesn't feel out of play.

I agree I thought about going lower aswell but 5/5 seems ok to me. I just thought too many guy's had hold glove arms and were damn accurate on their throws. Now with error's up high I see some throws up high take guy's off the bag just a little more and runners can advance a little better as the CPU manufactures runs instead of depending on the long ball.

I'm still testing and might change some things but I think it's best to start low on sliders then work your way up if something seems to low.

As a Cub fan, who saw plenty of Eckstein last year, this test made me LOL.

Re: Playmakers MLB 06 All-Star level sliders

Ok after about 8-10 games I went and brushed up on these sliders. I'm getting variable play using different teams. Some teams have more power in the lineup than others so at DEFAULT 10 for Power the CPU was hitting a few homers at a realistic rate. I also gave the OPTION to increase it to 12 if you needed to add more pop in the CPU lineup.

I went down on the fielding from 5 to 4 for both Arm Strength and Accuracy.
I just don't like everyone being razor sharp in the infield and outfield. I also thinks this helps to allow non power teams to manufacturer runs better without depending on the long ball. The CPU is able to steal a few bases aswell and I love the close plays now at the bags because it adds some excitement and drama. It also triggers more argued calls by runners who thought they were safe on a play.

The biggest adjustment was Pitch Speed after a few more games. I still prefer it high (14-16) since I use Texas lineup. But then with weaker teams 12 felt more accurate. I left Human at DEFAULT 10 because I started overpowering guy's after getting used to the Pitching.

Also are you allowing any HRS?

Well I use the Classic style pitching because I think it helps the CPU offense. I don't have great control using this style which helps the CPU bang out hits.

Right now I'm playing and in the bottom of the 4th I'm trailing the Royals 4-1 as Mientkiewicz just delivered a solo shot off of Milwood. The Royals scored 2 runs on me in this inning prior to the solo shot.

I had a solo shot by Texeira in the top of 4th to tie the game at 1-1 just before this huge inning the Royals are on right now.

Here's my early boxscore so far still in the bottom of the 4th
                          Team R H E
                          Rangers-1 4 1
                          Royals- 4 6 0

Pitching IP H R ER BB SO ERA
                          Milwood-3.1 6 4 4 3 0 10.80
                          Greinke-4.0 4 1 1 2 4 2.25

The Royals have got RBI's so far from Stairs, Teahan and Mientkiewcz. Teahan's was off a sacrafice fly.

So, hopefully this gives you a little insight. As you can I'm only in the 4th and the Royals have put up 4 runs and 6 hits on me. I even have one error so far. Well back the game.

I take that back make it 6-1 Royals now because they just went yard again this time with Dejesus on a 2 run blast. Now they have a 5 run 4th inning and Milwood's confidence bar is depleted now he's been rocked hard and I think this game is over already.

Well this game ended in a blowout the Royals ended up killing me 12-1 and they got 15 hits for the game.

Talk about payback. Afetr loosing 12-1 in the first matchup (Spring Training) I blasted the Royals 10-4......

I led 3-1 after the 3rd and it looked like Adam Eaton was cruising along then in the 4th they scored 3 runs ignited by Reggie Sanders 2 run Homer and I fell behind 4-3.

But in the 7th inning I got to Burgos scoring 5 runs on 4 hits led by Brad Wilkerson 3 run homer to center field. The Royals CF Dejesus looked like he was going to rob me at the wall but he came up empty handed and I took the lead for good 8-4. I got a 2 run double in the 8th by Kevin Mench and Eaton pretty much closed the door on Kansas City after that bad 4th inning. I shut them down for the last 5 innings.

                            Box Score
                            Texas-10-14-0
                            Kansas City-4-5-2

Eaton went 7 innings 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks and struckout 7 for me.

I made my final djustments by increasing power on both sides up +2.

Last game I played Nationals vs Mets and won 4-3.

As the Nationals I got 4 run's on 14 hits but committed 2 errors. I ended up getting 3 doubles in the game. My starter was Hernandez who went 5 innings and gave up 5 hits, 1 run, he walked 2 batters and struckout 1. Since it was spring training I pulled him.

As for the Mets they actually committed an error it was charged to Beltran. They managed 9 hits including a homer by D.Wright. They had 2 stolen bases in the game one each by Floyd and Boone.
