Re: Playmakers MLB 06 All-Star level sliders

I am in the same boat,I am using the Reds and the last 7 games the cpu can not score against me. I am only allowing around 2 runs and 4 hits per game the last 7 games. By the way I am using your original All-Star sliders.
I think we need to up the cpu contact or power or both.

Also, I can't seem to hit any dingers and considering I'm the Yankees that's a problem. Through the end of April I'm last in the majors with 17 homers while the Indians lead the ML with 43 homers. Should I just jack up the power slider?

I updated the sliders on the next page that should answer this question.

              Playmakers MLB 06 All-Star Sliders

              Updated 04/17/06

**Asteric** Indicates recent changes to a setting

I've also included 3 different levels of hitting for both the Human and CPU just in case one particular setting is too hard or too easy during your Season/Franchise play.

All Slider numbers are listed from far left (0) to far right Max (20). So a value of 20 means maxed out for example cpu base running aggression.

Human Skill Level for batting to keep Sliders challenging if you start to get too many hits:

LEVEL 1=CPU Pitch Speed 12 + Human Contact 4 (This is the base setup already)
              LEVEL 2=CPU Pitch Speed 14 + Human Contact 2
              LEVEL 3=CPU Pitch Speed 16 + Human Contact 0

The Base setup for Human Power is at DEFAULT 10.

These are other suggested hitting Sliders for the CPU that gives good results:

LEVEL 1=CPU Contact 6 + CPU Power 14 **(Recent change)**
LEVEL 2=CPU Contact 5 + CPU Power 15 **(Recent Change)**
              LEVEL 3=CPU Contact 4 + CPU Power 16

Pitching for Human stays at Default (10) for all 3 Settings

You made a few changes I see. Well I'm still getting very good production using my contact and power with your original sliders and the CPU using your level 2 setup which was contact 4 and power 16. I lowered my errors down to 15 but everything else is still what you posted before and my games are playing out just fine using the Dodgers. I actually had a 16 inning game recently in which I lost 6-4 on a walkoff homer by the CPU.

Have you been using the power swing option much? I found when I used that with the Yankees I get better results. I have had a couple of games where A-Rod went deep twice in one game. I am still having problems hitting HR's with Jeter, Damon and Posada. With those guys I have yet to hit one on my own. I have had to simulate the rest of some of my games and Jeter and Damon have 2 each though that option. The guys I usually hit HR's with are Sheffield, A-Rod, Giambi and Matsui.

                    What's up ajw?

It seems like everyone loves using the Yankees....

Anyways, I'm not sure why homers at DEFAULT 10 is a problem for the Yankee's lineup as I pointed out I use Texas and with Texeria, Blalock and even Rod Barajas I can go yard pretty realistic. I do this without even using the Power swing by the way.

But I guess to answer Ehh questions he could probably boost up his Power to 12 but it will make for more hard hit balls which could result into more hits. So, maybe increase Power to 12 and lower Contact down to about 2 or 3 to keep the amount of hit variety balanced.

I kinda came up with a simple format for the CPU that seems to work ok. For everyu click up on Power I gave them I minus the same amount of clicks for Contact to keep it balanced and not have everything coming off the bat hard resulting in too many hard hit line drives.

So, that's why I went back I switched the original setup from Contact/Power of 6/12 to the new setup of 6/14 that's 4 clicks down on Contact but 4 clicks up on Power. The Pitch Speed IMO should always stay at 10 DEFAULT for Human because that helps aswell to keep soft pop up's and bloopers involved.

PM, love your sliders as always. Don't know if you remember me from NCAA FB06, or was it Madden, hmm...either way, used your sliders before and loved them.

That being said, is anyone else noticing way to many dropped fly balls even with errors at 18. I lost a game in my Mets test 'chise last night because of two dropped balls in the outfield.

                        Try 17 or even 16

What I'll do is make 16 the base setting. Then if guy's are starting to get less errors game by game they can have the option to increase it on their own. I actually play on MAX for me and the CPU it hasn't caused me many problems.

                            Hey there Playmakers and everyone,

Well, I must be doing something wrong. Just played with your sliders and I got the most ridiculous results I've ever seen in a video game. Please understand, I'm not claiming it was your sliders by any means, but obviously I'm doing something wrong so I thought maybe you could help me figure out what it is.

This game wasn't even fun, not even for "testing sliders" purposes. And although I'm a firm believer that you need to try sliders more than once to get a real feel for them, this extreme kind of result is not something I'd ever wanna see in a season by the computer or by me.

So, I thought I would take this afternoon's Toronto - New York match-up and play it to see what happened.

Damn man the CPU had a monster game vs you.

That is weird because I haven't got rocked that hard in any games. I would suggest playing again and if they continue to hit like that lower their Contact to 5 and power to 10 and see if that helps until you get better at pitching.

I'm assuming your using the base setup which is 6-contact and 14 power by them right now?

Actually, no. I was at contact 5 and power 10 for the CPU. You know what? I think I'm giving up beach balls in my pitching. I use metered pitching cause I just can't get my brain around classic pitching. Still, even in meter pitching , I can't seem to control the pitch. It's weird, I 've never had such a hard time adapting to a game before.

I thought the diagrams of all the pitches in the "tips" section of the game were going to be accurate so that you could know which way your pitches break, but almost none of them matched up to the diagrams during that game. It said a pitch was going to break a certain way and it would go the opposite way.

Can you give me any kind of help on pitching? Maybe I'm using the meter wrong. I hold down the X button until I reach the desired power level and then I let go. When the meter swings back down, I click the X button again when it reaches the center of the "sweet spot".

One other thing... I play on Veteran. Is that relevant at all?
