    Re: Edwy's AllStar Sliders

Hey guys, I plan on picking this game up next week, as I've grown tired of MLB2k7 on the 360. I loved last years game and kind of kick myself for going with MLB2K7 this year. It's nice on the eyes, but it's impossible to make it sim like. My question to you guys is how are the sliders holding up for you Edwy? They sound and look phenomenal. And what level do you suggest playing on now that you've had the game for awhile?

Sliders: (0) Means all the way to the left, (20) means all the way to the right. Anything left out should be left at the default (10).

highheatkingsb:Awesome that you'll be able to get The Show, ive made one small adjustment from my original plan and now im getting excellent games! I would suggest you first start off playing on the default Veteran with the Default Sliders just so you'll be able to get used to all the controls and how to play (batting, baserunning, pitching, etc.) After your comfortable with the controls (and it also should be a hit fest on the default level/ default sliders), I invite you to try out my sliders on the All-Star difficulty. From switching to these sliders, you'll notice a more realistic play where it wont be a countless number of homers, triples, etc. The thing which I believe is the most difficult adjustment from Veteran to All-Star is the need to use the L-stick or the zone hitting controls. After you get used to using it you should be able to get a decent number of hits per game.

I dont think i'll ever move up to Hall of Fame difficulty...I tried it and I flat out got smoked, couldnt hit anything, pitchers were doing terrible. Pretty much I got rocked on by the CPU. If you need any help then post here with any problems your having, im sure me or someone else will be happy to answer

Thanks man, is the hitting like last years game? If so, I played 3 complete seasons in that game, not simulating a game using Favre's sliders on HOF. If the hitting is the same, I think I'll be ready for these. I'm sure it will take a few games to get used to the controls again after wasting 2 months on 2k7. One thing I did notice that stood out from last year is the pitch count slider. We had it maxed last year. Do you still get complete games with the AI and you if you pitch well?

I wouldnt know about the hitting from last year, I only played a few games on my friends PS2 The Show, and thats what got me into the SCEA series, I was considering getting it but decided it was too late into the season so I would just wait next year.

About the PItch Count thing, and with it at 15, yes you will still get complete games if your pitchers are doing well for both the User and CPU but only if they're doing well. I havent tried maxxing it out, but I read about it on another post where if you max it out then they would just last waay too long with not enough time for your relievers. So thats why I chose it at 15.

Why are the pitch speed settings set so low at 4? Maybe it's me but I think the default speed is just right. That might be because I had MLB 2K7 first and the pitch speeds on that game are blazingly fast.

Well in my case it's not so much that I can't walk, or i'm impatient. It's more that the CPU loves to throw FAT pitches when they get down in the count. Sure I could take more 3-0 and 3-1 strikes to try and get more walks, but I find i'm better off hitting those fat pitches! More 4 or 5 pitch walks would probably do the trick, but they almost always seem to come when the count is full.

It's not that big of a deal I guess... it just seems that no matter what my setting are, there is a bigger reward (more runs scored) for me going up to the plate with a hitters mentality.

I've been playing this game everyday with your updated sliders. I'm lovin this game. Allstar is incredible with these sliders. I'm getting good boxscores, a real variety of games. I'm getting close games, blowouts from me and cpu, pitcher duals..etc... real life like baseball. I'm 20-11 with the Tribe and 2 games out of 1st! Only 1 game ahead of the Chisox.

Any other game I'd be 10 games in first. Actually, the Tribes record is awfully close to this right now and their pretty much tied for first. So real its scary.

From my experience, when the Pitch Speed was at the default 10, I could not hit fastballs for the life of me...I would seriously get no time to react to a fastball and they would blow me away everytime, it would almost always be a swinging strike....so I lowered the Pitch Speed to 4, and at least now I can at least make some sort of contact with a fast ball when it comes down (whether it be a foul off or something to that matter), not perfect contact, but at least its something better than before.

pberardi: Lol, sounds great, mind telling me what your team AVG is? Mines sorta high right now...but I did go on a pretty big 7 game win streak in the middle of April

What is the effect of setting contact to 0? Does it make it easier to swing and miss, reduce the quality of contact, or both?

Reduces the quality of contact, thus leading to different type of balls being hit (i.e. pop flys, foul balls, fly balls, etc.). Increasing the contact will give better chances to make better contact towards the ball, which leads to more hits and line drives.

About how many walks and foul bals are there w/ these sliders? I know that is a wierd thing to ask but I love to draw walks, (too impatient to do often) and I love the foul ball animations. I am going to give these a try for the next several weeks to see if they help, I am not getting near the consistent quality of games on either veteran or all star that I did last year. Last year I played strickly vet, as I was worried my pitchers K totals would drop to the unrealistic totals i had the year before when i had many games where I would not K anyone.

Last night I walked 7 times. I can get 3 walks per game just for showing up. I can get 4-5 for trying and if I learn to layoff the changeup that drops below the knees, I can get 6.

I myself, average at the very least 2 walks per game. As far as the foul balls is concerned, I get alot.
