Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
Im sorry but I dont buy into this line of thinking, its all placebo effect if you ask me, so many people have talked about it that now people are literally looking for it. In the 9 games Ive played in my season Ive won a game 10-0 and won 1 or 2 other games by a margin wide enough that it wasnt a save situation. Do teams come back in real life ever? Of course they do. IMO, and I cant stress it enough that its just my opinion, but people are too busy making excuses for things happening in the game instead of making adjustments so they dont happen again. In San Diego Broxton came in with a 2 run lead and couldnt get anyone out, gave up three runs and cost me the game and guess what? It was my fault, Broxton missed his spot for sure but I didnt get anyone up to bring in when it was obvious the wheels were set to come off and that was my fault.Comment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
Yea I know. Out of the 50+ games I have played by now, I only had 2 blowouts. They're so rare that I remember them exactly. It was a 14-4 win (cards over SD) after I scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 8th because their bullpen just threw meatballs over and over for some reason (glitch?). This was only after I blew a 4-1 lead in the top half, lol...Comment

Im not on veteran, Im playing on All-Star with very minimal slider changes and am currently 7-2 waiting to open a series with Colorado next.

But as much as I don't buy into any conspiracy theories, I have been noticing that the CPU likes to score within the next two frames after you score...that's just what I'm noticing.
For example, if I take a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st, I can almost expect a couple runs either bottom of the 1st or bottom of 2nd...guaranteed.
I find that my pitching is easier and can shutout the CPU as long as I'm not scoring, heh.
That's just me though, I don't want to hijack this thread any moreComment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
Almost every game that I've played has been close. The few that haven't been have been in favor of the CPU, which would be fine if I could win by a big margin every once in a while. I'm seeing no variety at this point and losing a lot of games because of questionable things which is what's frustrating.Comment

I have it on default which I believe is off, havent had any big comebacks that couldnt be explained so far.Comment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
I've been testing this extensively all day today and last night, and I'm convinced it is not reversed afterall.
At least not on All-Star. It might be true for Legend or HoF, but on All-Star and Veteran, I blew every lead I had or came extremely close to when playing with it On.
The hard part to test is that the CPU is punishing regardless of the On or Off. From what I was able to gather, when I played with it On, I wasn't able to hold the CPU from coming back. The ironic thing is I was able to get bigger leads with it On, lol.
When I play on default, I still have trouble with the "barrages", but those seem to happen at any point, even if they're ahead already or if I'm ahead.
Hard to explain.
My biggest problem I need to work on is simply pitching, before I even worry about the comeback AI. It can't be reversed because when I'm losing by 4 or more, I don't feel the CPU lets off at all.Last edited by pbz06; 03-24-2009, 11:17 PM.Comment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
I play on veteran and I keep going back and forth with the AI comeback. Several games I played with it off and I found pitching extremely challenging and then I put it on for about 3 games and pitching seemed to easy. So I don't know what the answer is, I'm going to play with it off for awhile and see if I can just get better at pitching. I don't know if it has anything to do with it at all but I know when it's off I struggle more than I do when it's on. 3 games following me turning it on I won 4-0, lost 2-1, and won 5-2. Using it off I lose 3-2, won 8-6, and am tied 1-1 in the 3rd right now with my pitcher in trouble again.
So I'm not sure what I want to do with this option yet.Comment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
Man, I'm getting frustrated so I'll probably take a day or two off, lol. I've been playing way too much lately and have been "losing" it.
I just played again and lost 5-4 to the Orioles and Hendrickson. I was the Chi Sox with Danks going.
Once again, I scored an early 2 runs and they came RIGHT back in the bottom half with 3 singles to cut the lead in half. I then go a couple more innings and score another run, and I manage to hold them the bottom half, but of course their next time up they go on their barrage where nothing works. I can't nibble, mound visits do me no good, their #8 and 9 hitters become barry bonds. This fits in perfectly with my "2 frame theory", lol. EVERY time I score, it like triggers them to go on a barrage within that same inning or the very next.
Every single one of my box scores proves this, lol.
Eventually I retake the lead at 4-3 in the top of the 7th, and sure enough the bottom half they come right back and score with their patented sudden patient and resiliant approach and tie it up.
I've been playing against lower tier starting pitchers and all the bad teams, from the Orioles, Pirates, Padres, Marlins, Nationals etc. They just come roaring backComment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
I am new to this game; I went out and got a ps3 for it a week ago cause I couldn't take yhe 2k cpu hack fest anymore. I am having some great games with these sliders. My question is when it shows player 1 (human) difficulty for allstar does player 2 need to be set to allstar for cpu. or is it just the sliders that matter for cpu. I was playing and I noticed player 1 me was set to allstar and player 2 was set to vet. Sorry if its a stupid question but I'm new to the game.Comment

I believe it's only for Human vs Human games. I haven't touched my player 2 settings.
And the only stupid questions are the ones that are never asked.Comment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
Why dont you guys just go back to default and make your own sliders? Not every set is going to work for everyone and it certainly sounds like a custom set for yourself is what you need, not trying to force blzers sliders to work for you. If all else fails then go down a notch in difficulty and adjust from there, I did it and Im getting pretty good results right now and none of that would be possible if I just attempted to force someones sliders to work for me. In the end this is no insult to blzer as he gave me some ideas as to what will and wont work for my playing style and then I made adjustments so his help was monumental in getting to where I am but you have to adjust things for your own play style in the end."A two count is routine. You kick out at two if you aren’t done. Kicking out at one is a MESSAGE. It says NO in capital letters. A middle finger. A promise that the other man is going to have to kill you if they’re going to put you down." ~ Brandon StroudComment

Re: Blzer's All-Star Sliders and Settings
I switched over these sliders and had a 16 hit outburst. Oswalt went 3ip 5h 1er then Moehler pitched a scoreless inning of relief and then Bowie came in and put up 1ip 5h 5r 3er. This was my 6th game of spring and I hadn't hit anywhere near this well before this game. I'm going to stick with these for now. Good work Blzer! I find the fielding to be better too. The speed and everything is right.Comment
