Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***

Just played two games with these sliders. (Only thing I changed was lowering pitch speed to 3.) I bat and pitch from a custom behind the pitcher cam.

The two games were the first two games of my Twins franchise, against the Blue Jays. Both games played very well. I won the first game 6-1 and I also won the second game 9-2.

    Game 1: Pavano vs. Romero
    Teams R-H-E
    Twins 6-8-0
    Blue Jays 1-6-0

    Twins Batters (2 bb's, 11 so)
    Morneau: 2-4, 2 r, 2 hr, 3 rbi
    Young: 2-4, r, hr, 2b, rbi
    Kubel: 2-4, r, hr, rbi
    Mauer: 1-4, r, rbi

Blue Jays Batters (1 bb, 2 so)
    Davis: 2-4, r, sb
    Lind: 1-4, 3b

    Pavano: 7.0-4-1-1-1-1 W (1-0) 1.29

    Romero: 5.0-4-3-3-2-5 L (0-1) 5.40

    Game 2: Liriano vs. Morrow
    Teams R-H-R
    Twins 9-15-2
    Blue Jays 2-5-0

Twins Batters (4 bb, 6 so)
    Span: 2-5,r,3b,3 rbi
    Mauer: 1-4, r, hr, 2 rbi
    Kubel: 1-4, r, hr, 2 rbi
    Cuddyer: 2-5, 2r, hr, rbi

Blue Jays Batters (2 bb, 7 so)
    Escobar: 1-4, r, hr, rbi
    Bautista: 1-4, r. hr rbi
    Rivera: 2-4

    Liriano: 6.0-5-2-2-1-4 W (1-0) 3.00

    Morrow: 5.2-7-3-3-3-5 L (0-1) 4.76

The only problem I am having so far is too many Hr's and that seems to be the theme this year. The first game I hit 4 and the Blue Jays didn't hit any. The second game I hit 3 and the Blue Jays hit 2.

Game 1: Wind blowing out to left at 3 MPH
Game 2: Wind blowing out to right at 8 MPH

Not much wind, so I don't know if that is the problem.

I played both of these games without the new patch. I just downloaded the patch, and I will try to play another game tonight and post results, and see if the patch makes a difference.

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***

I'm curious about keeping the power slider at 5 and lowering solid hits to 2. I play on AllStar (timing and meter) and find there were too many homers hit by both me and the cpu with the power slider at default. Seems that the majority of posters are experiencing the same thing. I currently have timing, contact and solid hit sliders at 5 and the power slider at 4. It still seems that the majority of runs come from homers (especially cpu) so am thinking of lowering power to 3. Thoughts?

If you're hitting too many HR'S and you have pitch speed at 3 then I would think you should raise it. I think at 3 it's far too easy to tee off on the cpu's bad pitches. I am at 4 and average a little more than 1 homer a game sometimes i go games without one.

Darwin have you tried playing with solid hits at 2? IMO I feel it has more to do with home runs than the power slider.

oh i know that, but still it would be nice if everyone played fair online and not test the waters to see what kind of hitter they are going against. but still with sliders i do the same thing. even if i KNOW the ball is going to be outside, over my head or going to head way the hell outside i just end up swinging.

i also find that when I'm playing from behind, be it one run or 50 i seem to press and swing more wildly than i do when im ahead. this year i have rarely have the lead (4-4 in st)

as far as lowering pitch speed that sounds like a good idea, as far as using guess pitch, ive used it so much in the past that i almost feel it has become too much of a crutch for me so this year im trying to be more of a gambler and not use it.

dont get me wrong i LOVED guess pitch but did it really help my strike outs to be lower? mmmm... not really i could still find myself striking out up to 10+ times in a game. due to the fact that it allowed me to get to two strike counts and then i def press and find myself swinging a great deal more at two-strike pitches.

i will def adjust the pitch speed to 2 to start to see how i feel and also take the advice of going from wide to catcher whatever (have to look back to see which one it was that was suggested) i wont mess with any of the other sliders cause i don't do that.

i do play with timed hitting, auto fielding, and analog pitching, and button throwing and on veteran.

im looking forward to doing this starting tomorrow, my first day off of four. i should be able to get in mmm maybe 3-4 games in tomorrow. will probably report on each game as it is played. so here is to tomorrow and a giant thank you to each and everyone that has offered their idea or opinion on this subject for me.

Just started new franchise with these. Just ended 2nd inning. All star Timing and Meter.

              So far after 2 innings

              Detroit (me) R 2 H 2 HR 2
              Yankees R 2 H 2 HR 1

Will post final result but bit concerned about the HR count.
I know these things happen in baseball and 2 innings or 1 game isnt a good sample.

Actually just noticed wind is blowing out at 12 mph and it is at Yankee stadium. Will still post final result though.

                Ok I'm off to bed.

                Detroit (me) R 9 H 7 HR 4

Yanks R 8 H 10 HR 5 (One of these was an inside the park)

                Pitching: Verlander- P 91 S% 67 SO 3 Walks 1

                Sabathia - P 84 S%55 SO 6 Walks 2

                Both Pitchers have been Pulled.

                WIll resume the game tomorrow.

I have a question for anybody using these sliders with timing hitting. Are you seeing a nice range of hit variety???

I dont know what it is but after spending hours in BP modes, I am only able to manage between 2 - 4 hits a game. But what's even more disturbing is that the majority of the batted balls hit into fair territory seem to always go right at a fielder. I see an overwhelming number of flyballs being hit to the outfielders or week grounders in the infield. Of the few hits that I do get, a high percentage of those are singles right up the middle. I'm just not seeing a whole lot of hit variety using timing mode......what am I doing wrong???

I'm not suggesting that these sliders are the issue and fully plan on sticking with them, I'm just curious if other's are getting a nice variety of batted balls (both for hits and outs)?????????

                  Thanks for any feedback

Actually, I currently have pitch speed at 2. I was at 4 last year but I found it too fast for my 47-year old eyes this year. Having said that, my hit totals don't seem to be out of line. I have started seasons with the Yankees and the Brewers and range from 6 - 12 hits per game. I realize that these teams are 2 of the most power hitting teams in baseball, but I seem to see more homers for both me and the cpu than I do doubles. But maybe I should move pitch speed up to 3 and work my way up to 4. Thanks.

Really, I thought solid hits had more to do with line drives and power had more to do with homers. I would be interested in what others have to say in this regard. I'm not saying you are wrong, just never heard this before. Also, I am also a bit concerned with lowering sliders like solid hits and power too low as I think it might zap the power from the little guys like Jeter and Gardner. Jeter shouldn't be able to hit 30 homers but should be able to hit 12-15. How does lowering these sliders 2 or 3 notches below default affect guys like him? Gardner as well - he should hit lots of doubles and triples - how does lowering solid hits to 2 affect his stats?

I have to say that I honestly feel like I had better hit variety using ZONE instead of TIMING

Guys - You can tweak these here and there as necessary and keep in mind - these are just an initial release that we wanted to get put out for you guys to start using/testing. We will definitely be tweaking and hope to refine them a little and put another release out by Opening Day.

These are far from being FINAL

Darwin don't get me wrong Power does have a lot to do with HR's but I feel with lowering the solid hits slider it helps reduce the number of good contact. I feel like it makes the sweet spot on the bat a lot smaller. This is just my theory so I could be wrong.

Solid Hits does not effect HR's - it reduces/increases the sweet spot and lowering results in less line drives and more choppers, bloopers, etc.......thus improving hit variety. You don't want a line drive or ricket ground ball every time contact is made

Thanks TNK. How does lowering solid hits down to 2 affect non-power guys' ability to hit extra base hits and homers. I'm thinking of the guys who realistically hit 10-12 homers per year and a bunch of doubles - does it zap their ability to hit homers and extra base hits? I've played a fair amount of games, currently on AllStar. I just started a season with the Brewers. After 2 games (1-1) I have 21 hits - 5 doubles, 1 triple and 1 homer. The Reds (cpu) have 19 hits - 4 doubles, 1 triple and 4 homers. I have contact, timing and solid hits at 5 and power at 4 for both human and cpu. Maybe I could lower solid hits down to 4 - but currently I don't see a big problem that needs to be fixed. Except I guess that I don't recall see many bloopers and choppers - so maybe I will try solid hits and power at 4 and contact and timing at 5. Personally, I don't like straying too far from default as I believe that is where the game is made and where player ratings and stuff were based on. Thanks for your input.
