Now, Jgainsey uses Analog hitting too. However, he's still trying to find that "sweet spot."

I hit with Timing, and my personal adjustments are:

Human Contact 5 (Power and Solid hits match his, 4)
    CPU Control 5
    CPU Consistency 5
    Strike Frequency 3
Yep, that basically it right now. I'm using all analog, with the exception of fielding..

I guess I'll update the sliders on the first post here in a few. I really think the control and consistency have to big of an effect on the hitting difficulty to leave below default.. and I don't want to steer anyone in the wrong direction. I think that's going to push the power numbers back to earth a little bit.

I think that's a good set right there.

My only concern is the contact/control variations...meaning they're not matching one another. But honestly, how could having all that stuff below default NOT be a good thing? Am I right? Right...

I'll be following your progress closely. I agree with all of your adjustments.

Until the patch hits...hopefully today...I'm going to start a cousin franchise with Classic Pitching. All in all, I actually want SCEA to make Analog Pitching harder. Not that our 4/3 combo doesn't correct that, but I'd hate to get too far along, only to have to start slider tweaking again post patch. If that makes sense...?

My gut tells me, they'll patch difficulty. Just watch.

        Bingo.

5/5/3 for me. Unless my walks reach e p i c proportions, this is where they'll stay for me. Forever.

Whoa, whoa whoa... there's a patch about to drop? Damn, I'm spending too much time in these slider/roster forums. Guess I need to slither my way into the general discussion a little more often

            Stop the presses!!!!!!!!

No, a patch WILL drop. When? I have no idea.

Ramone mentioned Difficulty being a possibilty right as the game dropped.

I actually kind of hope they do. I'd much rather pitch on Default than feel "forced" to manipulate my pitching sliders, if that makes sense.

Sorry to get you going man.

              Re: HOF Sliders/Statistics Disscussion

hey fellas i'll be implementing these sliders tonight for my franchise (which i think i will continue and not restart after opening day set is released) and would like to contribute to this thread once i get a few games under my belt. Are these available on sportsconnect? Also i've been playing on all star level and am going to go ahead and make the jump to hof when i get home tonight as well.

how do i post those slick looking box scores on here???
              MLB: Chicago Cubs
              NCAA Hoops: Georgetown Hoyas
              NBA: Los Angeles Lakers
              NFL: Kansas City Chiefs
              NCAA Football: Nebraska Cornhuskers
HS Football: Rolla High School Bulldogs '95 (12-1)

                  Re: HOF Sliders/Statistics Disscussion

Ok. I just had an AMAZING game with Hall of Fame Analog Pitching. Like it was so great I don't even want to exit the post-game stuff and return to the schedule. I kind of want to just leave it there...

I restarted my franchise because I had CPU Roster Control on, and that means no injuries, and I didn't like that. On opening day in my new franchise, it was my Mets and Johan Santana vs Josh Johnson and the Marlins. Despite the pitcher's duel marquee, it was anything but, as neither pitcher had any kind of rhythmn going, and neither pitcher even finished the 5th inning. After the Marlins put together a 3-run rally to tie, helped by mad bad defense, I was able to lock down their offense. Several innings later, the bases were loaded, but all I could muster was an RBI single before a new Marlins pitcher shut the door. Nonetheless K-Rod returned the favor and I won in 12 innings, 9 to 8.

I fouled off 35 pitches, Marlins fouled off 22.

Note the weird line score, since it doesn't let you fit extra-innings in so I had to leave out a few. Also because of all the pinch hitters, I might have left out an at-bat or two somewhere. (Extra Innings box scores are a lot of work )

I will test these out tonight. Trying to find a set for analog that limits the HRs.

                      Re: HOF Sliders/Statistics Disscussion

I've been playing a bunch of exhibition games the last couple of days, with my new changes, and I've only hit 1 HR in my last 4 or 5 games. I don't know how I didn't realize it before, but having the cpu control and consistency at 5 really makes a difference. You really need the cpu to hit their spots on the edges of the strike zone to help keep HRs down.

The only issue I'm noticing is that the walks are probably not going to be as high as they should be. I think heroes is probably right on with cpu strike percentage at 3, and that's what I'm going to do as well.

The only other slider I'm on the fence about is human contact. I'm going to play around with a few different human batting combinations and see what I like best. Fouls will more than likely be staying at 6, and power will remain at 4.. But I think there's a sweet spot somewhere in there with either contact at 4, or contact at 5, with timing down a click to 4. Or maybe even contact at 4 and solid hits back up to 5.

I'll be messing around with it for the next few days, and I'm going to try and get as many games in as possible throughout the rest of the week. I'm going to make one or two small tweaks to the sliders on the first page, and with the exception of a slider or two, I think that's about where I'm going to be long term.

                        Re: HOF Sliders/Statistics Disscussion

I'm just completely not hitting now. LOL!

My hit totals over my last 5 games are 9, 7, 6, 5, and 2.

                        6 2B. 2 HR.

I'm just chalking it up to really good pitching, so I'm not pulling the fire alarm just yet. In two of those games, I didn't walk at all. Strike Frequency is amazing at 3.

If my hit totals don't begin to jump (let's say, at least one 10+ hit game over my next 5-10, I may consider raising solid hits back to default).

Either way Jgainsey, I think we're on to something.

Only as a last resort, would I go back to unbalancing CPU Control/User Contact. I think it MAY result in all or nothing style offense. I could very well be wrong.

If you'd like to bring down overall average, start with Timing. If no dice there, then re-evaluate User Contact if need be. That's what I'd do.

That's the direction I'm leaning in right now. Contact at 4 is a little tough with analog, especially with the cpu throwing more pitches around the edge of the strike zone.

I'm not sure that the cpu control/user contact necessarily has to be balanced, but anything below default really seems to put the cpu pitcher at a disadvantage.

I think I'm going to have to try out the HUM Control/Consistency sliders for pitching. In the first 3 games of my Mets franchise, I've yet to walk anyone. Usually, this is the other way around, but with the CPU at 5-5-3, I've drawn 7 walks in 3 games.

I've tried pitching around the CPU but with the sliders all at 5, it's still too easy (even on HOF) to paint corners or to throw the pitch exactly where you intend for it to go.

That's why I continue to advocate a Pitch Control drop. I change mine frequently out of curiosity, but a control/consistency of 1/3 or 2/3 has worked great for me.
