    Re: HOF Sliders/Statistics Disscussion

Weren't you the guy that accidentally played on Default AS and had a blast? LOL!
Yeah that was me. I forgot to load any sliders and was default allstar for one game and it was one of my most rewarding games at the plate.
Maybe I will try what you said. AS for hitting and HOF for pitching. AS pitching is definately too easy to throw strikes.
I had to put the game away after my 21 K's earlier.
Of course what do I end up doing? Watching some of the Braves Phillies game where Cliff Lee struck out 16 Braves. LOL!!
    Clearly they were mocking me!!

Darwin, for you own peace of mind, sim a game where C.C. dominates.

      A. It's not like he can't.

      B. You did it before, so you kind of earned it.

Start out your franchise with A.J., whom we agree gets gems and 'Oliver Perez' style beatdowns...so either way, it's outcome won't allow the OCD to kick in. LOL!

      And never look back.

      I've been there too man.

Thanks for the tip and the "blessing" to sim the first game. I took your advice and did just that. After a few attempts (the Tigers won the first 3 times I simmed) I won the game 3-0. Sabathia had a complete game 3-hitter. The Yankees got 6 hits, all singles except for a 3-run homer by A-Rod. So I'm off to the races Hopefully). May I be struck down if I EVER start over again!!!

I'm starting with the following sliders:

        human/cpu

        contact 4/4
        power 4/4
        timing 6/4
        solid hits 4/4
        fouls 6/4
        control 5/4
        consistency 5/5
        frequency /3

        pitch speed 4
        HOF hitting/pitching - timing/meter

What do you think? Is that giving me too big of an advantage? When I started over with these sliders the cpu seemed to get plenty of homers, hits and XBH. I seemed to be getting a decent number of hits. If I'm seeing too few XBH what should I raise - contact or solid hits?

I feel for the guys that get stuck in a franchise restarting rut. I was so bad with it last year that my girlfriend(who pays zero attention to my video gaming habits.. probably for the best, btw) started to ask me why the hell I was always playing the cubs.. I told her she would think less of me if I had to explain myself, and just left it at that.

Anyways, I think those look pretty good Drawin. If you run into problems with xbh, I would raise solid hits first, and maybe even drop timing to compensate.. depending on how good you batting average is.

I appreciate your sympathy. I've had the game from Day 1 and have seen 2 stadiums - but hopefully I'm on track now. By the way, I burst out laughing when I read your post - very funny!!

As far as sliders I think I'm back to:

            hum/cpu
            contact 4/4
            timing 6/5
            power 5/5
solid hits 5/5 (just not seeing enough XBH at 4)
            fouls 6/5

In terms of cpu hitting sliders I think it has more to do with me piching smarter/better than it is reducing all of their sliders to 4. I think that gives me too much advantage and give me ANOTHER reason to start over!!

However, if I do find that I'm getting hit a bit too hard, which slider, solid hits or timing, would I lower to 4 first?

Thanks again. You are right - the starting over rut is not fun and hard to cure!

I'm more in the solid hits camp. Timing seems to impact the the CPU in a pretty drastic way (especially last year! But full disclosure, this year, I haven't messed too much with CPU timing, so I could be wrong).

                Re: HOF Sliders/Statistics Disscussion

I was thinking about raising power to 3, just to see how drastic of a difference I would see in HRs from 2... and yeah.. 4HR in my first game with power at 3.

I'm current sitting pretty consistently in the 0.8-0.85 range in HR per game. I was hoping to see if raising power to 3 would give me that subtle boost to match up a little closer with the real life Braves, who are currently at 1.03. I know, I know.. I'm kind of nit picking at this point, but I was just curious to see what the difference would be.

The 4HR game wouldn't be so alarming if it hadn't happened to me the last time I switched power from 4 to 3. I played a series with a 4HR game, and 2 3HR games, and basically concluded that I better keep on moving down to power at 2.

Just to clarify, I'm very happy with power at 2. I was just curious to see if my last try with 3 was a fluke. I know it's still a small sample size, but at this point I could just tell right away that it wasn't going to work out.

It's odd to see such a large difference in results from the two different power settings, but such is the nature of analog hitting this year.

Clearly, if you struck out 21 times against Pittsburgh, you're either suffering from severe input lag or severe frustration. I'd gather, the latter.

Weren't you the guy that accidentally played on Default AS and had a blast? LOL! Address the BB issue (and maybe power issue by reducing that slider a click or two) and call it a day. Drop run speed if needed for doubles.

I've gone through this before, so I feel for you.

Last year, I ended up in Default HOF. Yes, after tweaking for months, I never had more fun than when I set em...and forget em (so to speak).
Yep, AS Timing hitting and HOF Analog pitching is my setup and I'm getting good results. Like H&V said, the only slider I've touched is CPU Strike Frequency -2 clicks. I get anywhere from 0-5 walks a game, depending on how patient I am at the plate and the confidence in the CPU pitcher.

Lol, I can vouch for him. If I remember correctly, we both ended up going back to default HOF last year. I ended up tweaking rp stamina and some global sliders just a tad, but they were practically default.

I may have shared 'em with HV in a PM... I dunno, I don't really remember.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think they were really similar to Phycobulk's global settings.. the ones in his sliders set from last year. I'm sure you can find them in a search.

I sold MLB '10, and I deleted all of the files associated with it on my PS3. Otherwise, I'd just fire up and tell ya what they were.

I buy the game every other year, because I do so much roster rditing (batter walk up music etc. that it takes me 2 years to play a season. I'll buy 2012 next year. I thought psycho's global sliders were whacked with reaction at 10 and fld run speed at 1? Care to share how you liked the batter/pitcher interface with all at 5 as well as fld run speed and arm strength at 5.

I'm sick of messin w sliders and my rosters are ready. I just know I don't like all star or legend gameplay and I've tried every set on here from 2010. F.Y.I. I just got 2010 at Christmas.

I actually found my last slider set from last year save on my cpu. I was wrong about using Phsyco's global sliders, it turns out they were CHD's...

Anyways, I lied about sticking with default. I forgot I played the last couple of months before 11 came out with these. Here's what I finished up the year on. Hitting and Pitching on HOF.

                              HUMAN
                              Contact - 5
                              Power - 6
                              Timing - 5
                              Fouls - 6
                              Solid Hits - 5
                              Starter Stamina - 5
                              Reliever Stamina - 2
                              Pitcher Control - 5
                              Pitcher Consistency - 5

The CPU and Global sliders were the same as CHD.

                                Dowie, all default...

HOF. No left stick...POSSIBLY a lowered pitch speed and Strike Frequency (I think 3 for both).

Meter pitching from the catcher view.

I was so fed up with sliders, I went all 5's. Had a blast with SF!!!
