Are you doing exhibition or a franchise? If you are doing a franchise, your starter quality is going to vary from start to start due to wear and tear. Trust me, you will get roughed up plenty!

Call me crazy, but I also have the CPU strike freq at 1. I am finding
good % of strikes to ball ratio. The CPU still gets a number of strikes
on me because of missed swings and bad calls. Set at one or 2
seems to work with my game play.

I agree, I tried pitch speed at 3 for a few games and found it hard to decipher pitch speeds, it felt like every pitch was the same speed, change-up or FB. With it on 4, pitchers with 90+mph FB's zip through, while their changes and breaking balls will leave you looking silly if your not careful. I 'm keeping it at 4.

Does anyone know how much the actual players ratings factor in when hitting with Zone?

I think the hot/cold zones have a lot to do with results. Better players have more hot zones so if you make good contact in those zones you should see results. Whereas worse hitters have more blue zones and a lessor chance of success.

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

Never shared a boxscore before and thought this was a fun one to display. Demonstrates that you can a) have high scoring games, b) have multi-run innings, C) have a few errors mixed in and D) have realistic stat totals as well.

The only oddity here was that Nolasco did not get yanked immediately after I took him for five in the inning. My only guess is that they still had the lead and that maybe the errors led to unearned runs, so it tricked the computer into thinking that he was not doing as poorly? Regardless, a great game, even though Chin took it on the chin (what do you expect from a former Yankee?)

Fenway - thanks for posting that

I havent been banging out as many games the pat few days....I'm in the playoffs in NHL12 and am trying to wrap up my season befor OSFM comes out.....plus work has been hectic

I've been reading and replying as much as possible though.

I just don't see any need to be making changes right now....getting great variety in types of games and everything feels pretty damn good while playing....nothing is sticking out as being something that needs to be adjusted at the moment.

Hey Tony, do you turn off all visual aids? Oh and another thing, I am still getting picked off every time I lead off. I absolutely hate that aspect!

I turn off all visual aids - strike zone, pci, etc.....and I set my ball marker to fade and am experimenting with it off when pitching

As for pickoffs.....I never extend my lead more than one step....I tend to get picked off when I take more than 1 additional step.

Nah, I am liking them! I think any changes at this point are users choice, but the foundation is solid.

                          EXHIBITION GAME
BOSTON RED SOX (ME) @ CLEVELAND INDIANS (CPU)

PITCHING MATCHUP - Josh Beckett vs. Justin Masterson

The Red Sox jumped all over Masterson in the top of the 1st inning as Pedroia doubled and then Youkilis and Ortiz hit back to back home runs to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. Cleveland got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd when Asdrubal Cabrera turned on an inside fastball from Beckett and hooked it around the foul pole for a 2-run HR to make it a 3-2 game. Masterson and Beckett both settled down and got into grooves through the 6th inning as the game remained 3-2 entering the 7th. Dan Wheeler came on to pitch the top of the 7th and sat the Sox down in order. Beckett continued to cruise as he got through the bottom of the 7th and registered his 9th strikeout of the game. The Red Sox offense went to work in the top of the 8th as Aviles walked to lead off the inning, followed by an Ellsbury single up the middle. The Indians removed Wheeler form the game and brought in Rafael Perez and Pedoria welcomed him with a single to LF that scored Aviles from 2nd to make it 4-2. Perez rebounded and struck out Adrian Gonzalez for the 1st out and then picked off Ellsbury off 2nd base and got Youkilis to pop out to end the inning. Beckett remained in the game for the bottom of the 8th, got the 1st 2 outs and was removed because he was tired despite the fact that he had retired the last 7 batters he had faced. Bobby Valentine brought in Franklin Morales from the pen to face the lefty Shin-Soo Choo and Morales struck Choo out to send the game to the 9th with Boston leading 4-2. The Red Sox went quietly in the top of the 9th and Cleveland would send Santana, Hafner and Kotchamn to the plate to face Red Sox closer Andrew Bailey in the bottom of the 9th. Bailey would get Santana to ground out for the 1st out, Hafner would follow with a single up the middle to bring the tying run to the plate in the person of Casey Kotchman. Bailey got squeezed on what should have been a strikeout and then Kotchamn singled to LF to setup runners on 1st & 2nd with 1 out for Shelley Duncan, Bailey struck out Duncan on a nasty slider for the 2nd out and that would bring up Jason Kipnis with 2 outs and the tying run on base. Bailey had Kipnis down to his last strike and left a 2-seam fastball up in the zone and Kipnis took em deep for a walkoff 3-run HR to RF as the Indians win 5-4.

                          * This is the 2nd exhibition game in a row that Bailey has blown the save and given up a walkoff HR for me, both times I had the opponent down to their last strike and I didn't locate my pitch and the CPU made me pay btoh times.

                          * Josh Beckett was outstanding and deserved the win as he allowed 3 hits in 7.2 innings while striking out 9

                          * Masterson threw 95 pitches in 6 innings of work (67% Strikes)
                          * Beckett threw 104 pitches in 7.2 innings of work (68% Strikes)

                            Hi everybody!

I have played about 10 games hitting only, simulating pitching to the a better picture about the following sliders:

                            CPU Pitcher Control - 4
                            CPU Pitcher Consistency - 4
                            CPU Strike Frequency - 3

With this slider set, I was able to get 60-64 strike percentage against Aces like Sabathia, Price and Shields.

But agains worse pitchers I was able to get 56-58 strike percentage, which is too low I think.

I have set the CPU control to 5 and Strike frequency to 4 and I'm getting better and more realistic results.
