Yeah, love these sliders, glad I continued playing with them, 1 game definitely isn't a good sample size. I drew about 3 walks in my first 3 games with this set, earlier this week(wish I remember to screenshot it), I drew 9 walks off the Cleveland Indians with the Red Sox.

So I switched back to Veteran using the Hybrid settings, because I'm now CONVINCED that I'm unable to hit on All-Star. From now on, any tweaks that I make to sliders will be on Veteran.
But, as I mentioned in my last post, it's exactly the way I remember it.
Andy Pettite: 7 IP, 8 Ks, 77% overall strikes, 75% first pitch strikes.
Please tell me that this isn't the norm for every pitcher.
I'm going to play a game against the Angels with Blanton (overall 80) on the mound. If he's pitching the same way Pettite did, I'm going to be pissed.Comment

My problem with these sliders is the lack of offence, not only from my side, my games are 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 and so on that's why i'll try to raise by one point solid hits for me and for the CPU, im looking forward to seeing if something changes.Comment

For those struggling with hitting I would throw this idea out there. Try switching to Pure Analog. It is the easiest, and I would argue the most true to life, hitting mechanic in the game. I was playing with A&S sliders and struggling to hit with timing. I switched to analog and within a couple of weeks had to find more difficult slider sets.Comment

If your struggling and just can't find your groove then by all means find an interface that works for you.
I like analog and zone hitting. I can hit with all 3 of The Shows interfaces. I just found timed to be the least stressful, and most enjoyable for everyday playing and more importantly statistical accuracy.

If you have the right sliders the sim is great with Analog. It still comes down to timing and the players rating. I don't think one interface is better for sim than another, it really comes down to personal preference.Comment

Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders
Decided to test out this sliders.. Only change was the auto fielding , using timing hitting and meter pitching (i feel more comfortable that way.. Hope that doesnt bother you)
It was a really good first impression. First game I won 2-1 and it was a very hard game. I got outscored though in hits 14 to 7, but my pitching was dealing. Michael Wacha allowed 10 hits in 6 IP but he was able to not let any one of them to score (although he got help.. Lorenzo Cain threw a bullet from LF to home to get out Hunter Pence ending the inning)
Hitting was good. I only managed 1 walk though, but I was VERY patient. In the whole game I had 30 AB's. In 20 of them I managed to work the full count. Im sure I would have had more walks but im just learning to be patient (im the extreme opposite of it). Oh and Posey hit a 445 gift
I have to play more games though, I know that but in my first game everything went awesome. Hope it stays like thatNew York Yankees

Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders
Yeah, love these sliders, glad I continued playing with them, 1 game definitely isn't a good sample size. I drew about 3 walks in my first 3 games with this set, earlier this week(wish I remember to screenshot it), I drew 9 walks off the Cleveland Indians with the Red Sox.
Just some of my observations:
As I said before, I gave the hybrid settings a lot of testing when they first came out. I'm talking about 25-30 games, minimum. That, plus the dozen games that I played this weekend gives me a pretty good sample size of how it is to play with these sliders.
As far as hitting goes, like I said earlier, any tweaks that I make will be on Veteran. So far, the only thing that I've changed is by raising Human Contact by 1 click, and I'm finally starting to see some good results. One thing I noticed right away with the Hybrid sliders is the ability to actually hit Home Runs!!! Feels good to see sluggers like A-Gon and Hanley get some love over the fence.
For the CPU, I increased contact and timing by one click, just because I felt like the CPU offense was a lacking. I play with Human Control and Consistency on 3. Have been since late April. So far, I'm liking the results that I'm seeing. Getting decent K rates with good hit and run totals.
For CPU Pitching, I lowered Control and Consistency down one click to 3. The main reason for this goes back to my original observation with Veteran hitting, and that is the CPU pounds the strike zone significantly more on Veteran than All-Star. Even with Control/Consistency at 3, pitchers are pretty consistently in the high 60%'s for overall strike frequency, and right around 60% for first pitch strikes (which is good). Simply put, the pitchers put more balls over the plate, which leads to more hits/higher offensive output for the human, but also leads to a higher overall strike percentage. I'm going to continue to test with both and 3, as I think going any lower will start screwing up the first pitch strike percentage, which is definitely not what I want to do. I think that's one of the most important stats of the game. I'm struggling to get 1-2 walks per game, but that's more my issue. I'm a fairly patient hitter, but I get kinda jumpy in the box on full counts, and I end up swinging at pitches out of the strike zone.
The good news is, I'm finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel after struggling so mightily at the plate when I was playing on All-Star. Maybe a few more test games and subtle tweaks, and I might actually get to start a REAL franchise (for the third time). LOL
I'm glad I went to Veteran. Any hit to my pride has been greatly outweighed by the fun that I'm having playing the game again.Comment

Re: Armor & Swords/Marino's - MLB The Show 13 Timed/Classic Sim Sliders
I am going to try raising contact up 1 on hybrid settings. The last few games have been great Lost to the Angels 2-1 and 4-0. You can get shutout on hybrid settings, its not all 5 run games. All i did was raise CPU strikes to 2, other than that its stock A&S sliders.Comment
