Hey guys, we don't come into your thread and tell you who to include in your roster......just saying. If folks want rosters done a certain way they can choose from ours and yours. And if they are not happy, they can make their own. I really don't see the issue, nor do I see the point of debating why our roster is the way it is when it is that way because the people who are actually working on it have designed it that way because they want it that way.

You have to look at it on a team-by-team basis. Some systems are stacked with prospects. Who are you going to remove or export over? I'm choosing the guy who has already made it to that level rather than one who is a couple years away. Of course the can't miss or well-regarded guys are excluded from this reasoning.

And you have to take into account age and progression. We don't export over SCEA guys unless they officially retire so we don't dump a bunch of prospects into FA. If you do it that way, if I'm not mistaken, many will retire in the offseason.

Another thing to consider is the age of those you're putting in A-ball. I personally want to develop the prospects at the level appropriate to their age with obvious exceptions. I don't want to inundate AA with a bunch of 18-20 years in the second year of a franchise.

None of those things that I've posted have been basically telling you who to include or how to go about your business, brother. All I've done in your thread is ask questions or try to respond to ridiculous ETA posts or posts that were attacking my own posts because some guys....well, I'll leave it right there.

I haven't and won't say you should do "x" because "y" in your thread. It's your roster, so do your thing boss. Nobody minds roster makers checking in with one another, but when the peanut gallery is insisting you/we are doing something wrong with your/our own roster, then that's a little unnecessary. Nobody can please everyone, but we'd prefer people not tell us what is/isn't in our roster and what should/shouldn't be in there. That's really up to the people making it, just like yours is up to you.

I never told u to do anything.. I just simply pointed it out. And yeah u have tried to correct me. And yeah I brushed it off.. But it's cool do ur thing. I didn't say hey u should add these guys what are u thinking. I posted just as u posted a statement about platoon splits. that most of them were already top prospects and moving up the chains. And that my roster had more than 18 year olds and mlbers.

Whatever the truth actually is with the he said, he said stuff, just suffice it to say that our two rosters will be significantly different and that's good because it gives people some variety to choose. I think we can probably just leave it at that, wish one another well, and hopefully we all can release good rosters here in the near future.

I would completely agree. There are tons of AAA and AA players with D potential that I dump at the end of the first season anyway. I would much rather have those spots filled with crappy players that still have somewhat useful potential.

Guys, just a note on the above posts - I think both are getting defensive on points that are valid. While agree with WTNY on the let's not push one another's roster on the opposing thread, mizzou has made some good points along the way on our threads and his roster will probably be an equal different to this one - and quite honestly next year we should probably all work together on an even superior roster - we actually debating using Steamer as well as Oliver ratings for this project this year - both rosters should come out with similar results give or take because when you look at Steamer's ratings and ZiPs, there are several that are pretty close.

Secondly, sharing of community stuff is what this roster is all about - when I created the Hybrid 2 years ago, it was a mixture of several rosters based off Ridin's Trade Deadline roster that year - we didn't worry about stats as much then, but took the best of all the created players in the Vaults and off Rosters to create the Hyrbid - hence the name Hybrid

As for the younger player/draft pick/prosepcts/org filler debate I will address that below

So, to answer this somewhat - so do I on my roster, but here are the explanations of why we do this - and trust me I hate creating players who will retire after the first season of disappear into another teams system.

I was similar to most of you originally and loved having Draft Picks and Top 30 Prospects on each team - but there are a couple of issues with doing that that teeds touched on - and trust me he had to do a huge sell job on my last year with this one to make it an integral part of this roster.

                    1. Flavour of the month is probably the best way to state draft picks and even some high end prospects. I have been a minor league following Blue Jays fan since the early 90's and have seen my fair share of busts and also players who were nothing make significant contributions - anyone remember a guy name Dan Uggla who was a depth player that got called up by the Marlins one year? Or how about the next Yankee great Drew Hensen - a guy most would have insisted on being on the roster and never even sniffed at the majors.

                    2. Also many times in the last 2 years we ended up having to create a player because we had a younger player created instead and this guy makes the majors.

                    3. There are so many rosters or just players in the vault out there with all created draft picks, prospects that most of you can find a player you may want and add them to the roster - I personally have created a huge chunk of the Blue Jays system and will have them in the vault if they aren't already. What I do is get rid of other teams extras in the FA pool and import in my own teams prospects and add them through the season as I wish - other I create to replace the fake draft picks after the season.

                    4. After one season with the current contract setups in the game - you need to go sign all of your younger players - and having a bunch of org filler guys who become free agents also makes the offseason a bit more fun and interesting. A side note you usually have to use 30 team control to go through and sign every other teams prospects also and what I do is look for any player in each org on the first day of the offseason who is 25 or younger and make sure they sign then let the others be signed at will or like in real life become minor league free agents

Lastly, if you have too many A ball players or low A players and guys start getting injured which happens - then you end up with guys playing in AA or AAA who shouldn't be and their numbers show.

Interesting argument though more heated than need be. One side is basically saying development is a huge part of the game and the other points out the need to balance depth with that. I can't wait to see both rosters and determine how I want to handle my franny that I'll never get to play anyways!!!! At least when I get the time it'll be awesome.

Yes but at the same time there are plenty of players who seemingly come out of nowhere in the minors. This will never happen in MLB 2K. That is why I think having lots of good prospects with high potential will seem to balance out in the majors in a video game.

I think the choice is the big part, where one can choose to use the rosters he/she see fit.

Everyone has ideas on rookies, progressions, and ratings.

The one thing I would argue however, is that there is not a person on this planet who understand, loves, and enjoys baseball, that feels that Jake Peavy is a better pitcher, and a higher-rated asset than Jon Lester.

                          No one.

                          Rosters should reflect that.

Personally I was a TO fan screaming not to trade Norris or Sanchez. The one thing I like with Norris is his delivery is very simple and uses a lot of leg power which will save his arm - or should save it. It seems the big thing with him this year is he is now able to control everything a bit more, I still see him starting next year similar to Stroman this year
You make a great point about the usage of his legs. That's one thing I noticed during his high school years. He has always used his legs for power instead of placing a strain on his arm. This like you said should save his arm. When I have watched him pitch in high school his control was sporadic.

One start his control would be excellent(no walks in 7+ innings) & the next start he would walk 3+ in 7+ innings. He would rarely get frustrated though no matter what. He's a great kid & has a solid mindset in real life & on the mound.

Did you read the story about what he did during this past off-season? Where he was living out of a motor home? Not that he was poor but to get away you could say. I thought that story was pretty cool! I can find the link if you haven't read it. Thanks!

being that mr. kershaw is so darn dominant - does he need a ratings increase (not a lot, but a bit) - and if so, just how much ?

                                Maybe an 80 clutch and 79 H/9 ?
