It's close still, but just something I'm looking at. I don't mind leading or being last in some categories. My Marlins pitchers do suck pretty bad. Coaches play a role too w their ratings.

Your top teams in 2017 IRL were just a tick under 10% of at bats resulting in XBH.
I can attest to this also. Lots and lots of singles against me and usually many in a row once its starts happening. Wasnt going to share it until I played a few more games, but then i saw this post.

My batter analysis after games have had every square of the CPU strike zone over hitting .300, and some squares on the edges at .500. with the exception of the upper third of the zone, and Im pretty dang good at pitching strategy and throw to the edges and off the plate.

I love the challenge of a dangerous CPU, but like you said I would like fewer hits with more damage per hit.

I will be trying these two adjustments tonight and see how it plays.

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders

Played a Spring Game with Rangers vs White Sox. I bumped up Human timing a notch, as well as lowered CPU solid hits one notch. Neither team could get much going as far as scoring goes, but it still felt pretty good. I was about to be shut out, down to my last strike, but lined a single into CF to score a runner from second to tie the game at 1-1. The ball went through the Centerfielder's legs and my batter ended up on third base but couldn't get him in.

I ended up losing, by grooving a fastball in the bottom of the 9th that ended up just over the right field wall for a walk off solo shot.

        Texas: 1 Run, 7 Hits, 0 Errors, 7 LOB.
White Sox: 2 Runs, 9 Hits, 1 Error, 6 LOB.

All 7 of my hits were Singles (one was hit hard into the RF corner but the RF was shifted toward the line, so they held me to a single) Nothing hit in the gaps.

CPU had two Doubles and one Home Run, out of 9 total hits.

        HUM BAbip: .292
        CPU BAbip: .320

Guys who use Classic pitching with these sliders... What changes did you make?

Mike bud... What changes would I need to make if I drop hitting difficulty to All-Star?

Asking cuz I dont want to change to All-Star and then just start raking if these sliders are meant for Legend.

I switched from meter to classic this year and I’ve been using the sliders as listed. I use the Indians in my franchise and I have been struggling with my pitching. I’m 4th from last in team ERA, which is really surprising with my staff. But I contribute it to me still learning the intricacies of classic pitching and serving up the meatball way more than I should. Btw, I’m on HOF and it’s obviously been challenging to me. But I think I can turn it around before I start tinkering with any slider adjustments. I’m into the first week of May and I’m in 4th place but only 4.5 games out of first.

On another note, I’ve thrown around the idea of taking on a NL franchise. I love my Indians but I do a franchise with them every year and I’m not just overly excited with my franchise so far this year (could be due to my slow start lol). Thinking of doing like Mike and taking a mid level NL team and trying to turn the corner with them (pirates are my front runner).

Back to slider talk...Kid, I would play a bit with classic with sliders as is and report back what you’re seeing. I’m popping in here usually at least once a day and we could compare our experiences.

Just an update: I played my second game with those adjustments (hum timing +1 and CPU solid hits -1), and, so far, CPU is struggling to hit. And I didn't pitch well, I left a lot of balls over the middle of the plate. Curious what you are seeing.

The other news is, ironically, ever since I talked about my team hitting too many XBH, they've completely dried up lol. I was hoping they would pull back but not this much. I've played quite a few games since then, and 86% of my hits are singles. 9% doubles, and 5% home runs. The only doubles I have hit were ground balls that got by the first or third basemen down the lines, and a few of those they should have had. Nothing in the gaps. My BAbip, however is .300 on the dot.

That -1 you have should be a positive 2 on CPU solid hits, and believe me it makes a difference.

I watched a cpu vs cpu game of baumys classic 1996 match up tonight. Turned out like a real ball game. The pace of the game was pretty dog on close with your updates Mike.

It's official: v1.1 has been updated in the first post. I'll upload it to the Vault now too.

I'm seeing fantastic games with these two subtle adjustments (like others have as well), even though my team is in a tailspin and now 5 games out of the wildcard with about 20 to play.

                        +1 Human Timing
                        -1 CPU Solid Hits

I can also confirm it's ideal to turn CPU Strike Frequency down to 0 against a knuckleballer.

Not exactly sure why as I've been pretty happy playing on Armor' s set this year but I think I'm gonna give this set a little try with the Rox.

Haven't played at all on meter this year and it's usually how I play every year, so interested in seeing it this year. I am gonna use directional hitting but I'm gonna leave all your settings/sliders the same.

Here's my first game exact settings and sliders, just directional hitting and manual field.

Game felt great on the mound, best the games ever felt pitching. Your settings/sliders and the tweaks they made to the Meter mechanic results in a fantastic feel out there.

Extra stats: (I accidently calc'd the Foul% & Swing/miss% for just the starters so throw that out ill correct it next game)

                              Jon Gray:
                              47% 1st pitch K, 59% K Ratio, 33% swing/miss

                              Zack Greinke:
                              55% 1st pitch K, 60% K Ratio, 68% swing/miss

                              COL:
                              .211 BABIP

                              ARI:
                              .143 BABIP

Also when you calc swing/miss in the analysis screen is it just missed+SO / Swung? Or is something else added to the Swung number?

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders

                                Sliders are great as always.

How do you guys find cpu manager hook at 2. I feel the starters are being left in too long. Example from last night’s game I played:

                                Cole Hamels (CPU) 4.0 IP 4R 11H 3BB 2HR 106P

The 4 runs is reasonable to keep him in but if you take the rest of his line in to account..... I feel like the logic is more score based rather than pitcher performance based.

                                Thoughts?
