Games 1 and 2 have not gone as planned. The offense has fallen flat, losing 3-2 and 1-0 while seemingly forgetting how to take walks and work the count. The offense is faced with the task of getting it going versus Strasburg. It's go time.

Man the 2nd season is so much more competitive . Just hit the 50 game mark and It's not just the usual suspects in contention anymore , the Angels , White Sox and Pirates are all on top for now . These teams have all made some good trades and free agent signings to really make things interesting . White Sox's really develop into a scary side , and as for me and my Jays we sit in 2nd place with a 32-18 record. Team has also developed very nicely and it's so rewarding to see after investing so much time into this .

Last night I dropped a 16 inning thriller to the Rockies. The kind of game where guys took 8 at bats, reserves who pinch hit or ran took 4 ab's, relief pitchers took ab's and guys were forced to play out of position. It was so much fun until of course Charlie Blackmon walked it off.

It's on my twitch. I had a 22 inning drawn out game. It came at the end of a 16 game stretch. Everyone was tired. It came down to I had to use a SP in the 21st bc I had no one left.

MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

In other news. I decided to redo my Yr2 carryover off season following a more "Dolan" approach to the off season. The game seems pretty equal when it comes to $$ between teams. I also do not use sponsorships or add bank.

So as in my last off season, I traded Kluber, but this time did the real life trade of Deshields and Clase (who I had to add/edit) and I added a SP prospect only bc Kluber in my game is better then Kluber in RL. I also traded Clevinger and Zimmer away.

I picked up a couple cheaper RP in FA, not going after huge names. I made a trade with Detroit for Candelario (1/760k) to play 3rd and JRam will move permanently to 2nd base.

I'm really confident in my starting rotation with a few extra mlb ready starters if needed. My bullpen will be a little more interesting as I have only a couple solid relievers. I'm excited to see how Clase does in spring and also McKenzie who got added to the 40 man and is almost ready.

I saved a master off season and also a end of off-season just in case mlbts 20 excites me. Spring fights will be in the outfield and also at catcher. Eric Haase is ready to come up and compete with Leon and Perez. Along with hopefully a few surprises along the way from other minor almost ready players.

I am going to start YR3 spring since I play no other game then the show. Look to see streams coming soon.

Hey guys, just a quick question - do most people hit on All Star or HOF? I have played a decent amount of games on HOF and hit a lot of home runs, but really struggle to hit for average. I cant remember exactly, but I think I played a full 162 season on The Show 18 with all star hitting and HOF pitching and had an absolute blast. Feel like HOF hitting is just too difficult, and the game is way more fun when you can hit.

Just wondering what most people do. If the majority sticks to HOF/HOF, i'll see if I can grind out a few more games and see if my results improve. If not, I'll just go All Star/HOF.

            Thanks!

I played a number of years with all star hitting and hof pitching until I was able to move up to hof hitting it’s a great mix for someone to use until they can bump up to hof hitting

I am new to The Show as of 3 months ago and can pitch effectively at HOF. But hitting on HOF I bat around .230 and score around 2.5 runs a game. That's not fun for me. Hitting on AS I hit around .250 and score 4 runs a game. My take is this is a game, do what's fun for you as an individual. Playing like other more experienced guys has led me to a lot of frustration. It ought to be fun.
Also I have only played as the Giant's and they have a mediocre lineup. I imagine my numbers would be different with a better or worse lineup as the ratings do matter in this game.

Agree with this. I'm sticking with HOF hitting but in MLB 20 I am going back to All-Star pitching I think. I don't have the greatest pitching staff in 19 but there is no way I should be almost dead last in every pitching category. I feel like AS gives the best of both worlds. Pitch gems and also have games that you get lit up. I shouldn't be giving up double digit hits almost every game.

Now, I do my own slider setup but I've been through the same "AS or HOF?" battle. I really like AS much better.

My advice, a "few more games" isn't going to magically change your stance on HOF. Follow your gut and play what you enjoy.

I'd also highly suggest bumping up pitch speed for All Star to 7 Fastball/6 Offspeed. It's a really nice setting because you still have to rely on good timing (vs high settings where it's all reflex) and the lower offspeed setting helps keep you more off-kilter. It's helped give me a nice middle ground between AS and HOF.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Same here Forme. I have a master off-season file in case 20 tingles my toes. I am in spring training of Year 4 but I have been playing the crap out of my rebooted 1987 Yankees franchise.

I have taken an extended break from streaming. Don’t know when I will stream again.

Been enjoying 1987 and playing Fallout 4.

19 has been incredible and can easily last me through the 20 cycle. But I said the same thing about 18 before 19 dropped.

So I have to really see something that is a must have to grab 20 in March.

I've done some experimenting here and found it very hard on Classic Pitching to have success with guys rated under 80. And there should be some success here to account for a break-out player or a rookie who shines in his early career and has the ability to progress or occasionally take the league by storm. Or even just an average dude who steps up for a season or a couple months with solid production.
I've used Analog and it's very fun plus success can be had with guys under 80. But it does take away from the clean screen and more importantly guys over 80 are too easy to dominate with. So it's hard to find the right balance for my style of play. Right now I'm sticking with Classic because being too dominant with my over 80 guys is too arcade for my taste.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

So the Phillies have finished the season series with the Braves in 2019. We went 11-8 against them this season. Two players on the Braves absolutely killed me this season. I tracked their stats against me in every game we played against them. Nick Markakis and Ozzie Albies. Check out these numbers.

                            Nick Markakis:

34 for 77 (.441) with 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 12 RBI, 9 runs scored, 7 walks, and 7 strikeouts. He singled me to death this season.

                            Ozzie Albies:

                            27 for 81 (.333) with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 19 RBI, 14 runs scored, 3 walks, and 16 strikeouts.

We now have 10 games left in the season (3 at Cleveland, 4 at Washington, and 3 vs. Miami) We are 6 games back in the NL East. It is going to take a miracle to win the division now. Anything less than a 4 game sweep of the Nationals pretty much spells lights out on the season. The Nationals remaining season is 3 against Miami, 4 against us, and 3 against Cleveland.

Cleveland has the best record in MLB by a wide margin so us playing them at the same time the Nationals play the Marlins is not good for us.

Minor news, but I thought Neil Walker was going to be done for the remainder of the season, but he is actually being activated from the IL before the first game against the Indians.

A few offseason moves I have contemplated are moving Jean Segura from shortstop to second base and trading Scott Kingery. Will be interested to see what free agent shortstops will be available as well as trade candidates. I will be looking into Francisco Lindor. I tested a trade scenario on another file and it looks like a package of Scott Kingery, Nick Williams, and Adonis Medina or Nick Pivetta could get a deal done. Hesitant because I'm not sure if I would want to move Nick Williams yet. I would part with Adonis Medina in the right deal. 10 more games and I can do the offseason!

So I ended up taking 2 of the 3 games against the Indians. The Nationals swept the Marlins and now I am 7 games back with 7 to play. 4 game series with the Nationals up next and one loss eliminates us from contention and gives the Nationals the division. Extremely doubtful we win 7 in a row and the Nationals lose 7. Ugh.

Well I'm Glad to say 2 of my signings in my Jays Franchise have now officially happened in real life as well . I had signed Ryu and Travis Shaw early on in season 2 and now it's official that the Jays have Signed Ryu on a 4 year deal worth 80mil and Shaw on a 1 year deal 4mil . Shaw is clearly a bounce back candidate and is a very low risk and high reward pick up . So excited for Ryu and really hope he can stay healthy , but a terrific pick up regardless . Just what we needed and shows that we mean business again. What a great Xmas gift this is
