Shaw is clearly a bounce back candidate and is a very low risk and high reward pick up . So excited for Ryu and really hope he can stay healthy , but a terrific pick up regardless . Just what we needed and shows that we mean business again. What a great Xmas gift this is

How is Travis Shaw doing for you? I'm thinking about getting him in the offseason for one year.

60 games in and Shaw has been great so far . I have not played in 2 days but I remember his batting avg is around the 265 mark and has been clutch in crucial situations . He is also 2nd on the team in Home runs as I recall , but he does however struggle against left handed pitching . But I'm very pleased with him so far and I would recommend him . Also the fact that he can slot in at 1st 2nd or 3rd helps a ton

The Nationals will have to keep their Champagne on ice as the Phillies have taken the first game of the 4 game series by a score of 6-5. This game was intense and felt like a playoff game itself. Amazing what you can do when you want to keep your extremely slim playoff hopes alive.

The game was tied at 3 thanks to 2 home runs and 3 RBI from Maikel Franco heading into the 6th inning. The Nationals took a 4-3 lead in that inning but didn't hold it for long as J.T. Realmuto tied up the game in the 7th with an RBI double. The game remained tied until the top of the 9th inning when Bryce Harper lead off the inning with his 48th home run of the season to give the Phillies a 5-4 lead. We tacked on an insurance run with a sac fly by Odubel Herrera to make it 6-4. That insurance run paid off big time as with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, Phillie killer Adam Eaton hit a solo home run to put them within 1 run. Luckily, David Robertson held on to record his 40th save of the season. Nail biter of a game for sure.

The Phillies now sit at 81-75 and 6 games back with 6 games to play. The remainder of the Nationals series will be no walk in the park as the next 3 games see us facing Stephen Strasburg, Max Scherzer, and Patrick Corbin. Oh boy.

        Pray for me. lol.

Anyone else noticing more bobbles on grounders by your fielders (auto fielding) since the latest patch? Even on softly hit balls, my guys can't seem to field them clean and it's super frustrating.

I've noticed it a lot more since even before the latest patch.

Almost all the bobbles I see are when I have a guy playing his secondary position and he had a low fielding rating. I don't mind it at all. It's just baseball to me.

Although playoffs are unlikely, at least you are playing meaningful games the last week of the season and that is pretty cool. Especially with a flawed team.
I am in almost the same position sitting 7.5 out of the wild card with 34 games to play and 29 out of the division. I too trail the Nats. My team is as flawed as Philly and I don't see us overcoming the gap. But I'm going to try like heck and it should be fun.

I just had a look at the Giants in year 2 of my Franchise and they have really made some solid moves and sit 2nd just 1 game back of the Dodgers . They picked up James Paxton , Mike Minor and Josh Donaldson and a few others to really make themselves competitive . They lead the league in ERA , pitching wise they are lethal

What did they do with Longo after picking up Donaldson?
The Giant's are a unique challenge for me because of all the declining veterans signed for multiple years beyond 2019. So if they don't somehow produce for me it could be a couple season's before I have them competitive again. As I can only begin a youth movement at a couple positions if I go that direction.

I have Longo at $20m per year through 2022 and he has already regressed to a 70 in year 1. I may just pay him to languish in the minors next year and play Brian Anderson at 3rd.

In 28 games he is slashing .361/.401/.521 with 7-2B, 4hr and 14rbi. Absolutely raking! Second in the NL in hits for the whole season. The low rbi is due to my inability to get guys on base at a high clip. We just don't knock in many runs as a team. But that's the Giant's.

Nice nice . So how's ur overall on base percentage ? Are u getting a fair amount of walks ? This is something that I really struggled with due to a number of factors , but when I started my 2nd season I promised myself I won't rush no more and will be patient no matter what inning or scoreline it is and now I'm 2nd overall in the American League East with on base percentage and I'm scoring alot more runs now all cus of the walks I'm getting . It's truly been a game changer

Definitely part of it, but I've also seen my SS with high ratings struggle with this since the patch. I only bring it up because I'm not seeing the same thing happen to the CPU, just my team.
