I agree. There is no code. Yes, when you blow a lead you are mad as heck at the CPU. But when I look back, most of the time I can say...I let the pitcher stay in one too many batters. And most of the time when I have a big league I’m trying not to use my main setup guys. I usually keep my middle relief in the game too long. Now once the cpu gets a couple hits I get my main guys up just in case. So that all falls back on game management. Not a code.

Agreed. Also, if you're up 4-0 in the 8th and your set up guy gives up 3 straight hits, then pull his ***. Don't wait for him to get shelled. I'm not afraid to use the whole back end of my bullpen if I have to. That's what options are for.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I think this the best version by far. I enjoyed 18 a lot but this one is so much better and with only a few tweaks to make it play great. I am not seeing any of the weird issues people are having and talking about in other threads. Won't even name those issues. Not what this is about.
This was the first year in 4-5 years I have been able to go to HoF hitting and pitching both and not struggle horribly. I love hitting in this game. The variety is amazing. In my Giants carryover I have blown leads and I have come back from them. It feels just amazing and unpredictable. Just like baseball should.
There is a reason baseball is the best sport and this game exemplifies that.Funkycorm

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
My only complaint on 19 so far is the 1st base bug on Auto Fielding.
Aside from that, yea I'm having issues with getting CPU to strikeout, but I'm blaming that on the teams I'm facing early on in my Phils franchise. Have had no issues with offense so far on these sliders.Comment

Exactly. CPU came back against me last night. I was up 6-2 and they scored 5 in the 8th to go up 7-6. Well I came right back in the bottom and took an 8-7 lead, then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth with zero sign of a CPU comeback.

And cpu solid hits left at 4? I always trust your sliders and use them exactly the way you post them, but doesn’t this feel like cheating a bit having a higher solid hits for human?Yankees modern day

Auto fielding is very beautiful most of the time but every once in a while, it's perplexing that a fielder just seems to give less effort on plays sometimes. A light jog to a flyball that could have been caught or - the worst offender - a casual double-clutch throw back in from the warning track when baserunners are rounding em'.
Everything else is greatI suck at hitting fastballs though, haha.

I apologize for misusing this thread for non slider-related talk, but I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere online.
When you're given the prompt about teams not having valid lineups/rotations, what's the difference between "auto fix lineup/rotation" and "auto fix all"?MLB: New York Yankees

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
My only saved sliders! lol..
Also yeah sorry to keep this going even longer but just have to say that most of the time I get "come back" on it's because I get too comfortable and start pitching carelessly, or as someone else said, leave a pitcher in way too long stupidly hoping he'll somehow "find it" and be able to get out of it.
Other times the CPU just really does mount a comeback. It happens and that's baseball.Attached FilesComment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I'd say AS Sliders are a guideline(great guideline) to use, but not bible. I won't change Human Solid hits to 5 for myself, as I feel I've been doing perfectly fine with it at 4. Unless of course some patch messes things up.Comment

Not when human pitch control is set to 4 also.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I think a minor tweak may be in need to address the low strikeout totals. At least for me. I would encourage you to look at your team strikeout totals ranking. If you’re at or near the bottom and don’t feel like your team should be, I’m thinking about the following...
First, I’m just not giving up enough hits for the balls that are actually put into play. I have more balls put in play obviously because my strikeout numbers are very low. But with that in mind (while I don’t have the numbers) I would guess my opponents batting average on balls in play (BABIP) is likely unrealistically low.
So what I really need is the following:
1. More strikeouts by the CPU.
2. More balls for hits on balls in play.
So with that line of thinking the adjustments that could likely provide this would be...
1. Moving CPU solid contact back to default at 5.
2. Moving CPU timing down one click to from default to 4.
I’ll give it a few games to see if my numbers improve but Yu Darvish, Who has a career K/9 close to 11, posting a K/9 in my game around 6 is just too much to ignore for me.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
My inability to strike out the CPU is starting to really frustrate me. I just pitched seven innings with Lester, struck out three. I had SOOO many two-strike counts, made great pitches but the CPU continually put the ball in play.
I really don’t want to make any slider tweaks because when you change one thing it affects other areas. I’d love to see stats from some of you guys on where you stand in the team rankings on strikeouts. Prior to this game I was 29th. After this I’m likely last in the league.
And I’ve never, ever been anywhere near the bottom ever on The Show. I’m consistently top ten in strikeouts every year in this game since MLB 08. So, while I appreciate the advice on, “how to work batters,” please understand, I’m quite well versed in that. The thing that would give me peace of mind is simply knowing that, while using these sliders, it’s possibly to be in the upper tier in strikeouts. Screenshots of your ranking is always preferable... not that I don’t believe people. Ha.

Go into practice mode and keep mixing up pitch strategies. It helped me realize what I was doing wrong in certain counts and how to properly work the batters in and out of the zone. You can’t max effort every pitch, and you absolutely need to throw out the zone. It’s still a challenge to strike guys out, but I was able to get guys both looking and swinging.

Man, I appreciate the advice, but I consider myself pretty much an expert on this game at this point. I’ve played every baseball video game since (even before) RBI Baseball on the NES. Mixing up pitches and changing from minimum to max effort is not the issue. It’s simply the fact that the computer puts the bat on the ball too often. Especially in a day and age in baseball where strikeouts are at record breaking levels in real life.
