So I know this isn’t slider related however I don’t want to post it in the main forum and get all the bulls*** replies. So I have 2 things I feel like I don’t grasp/use correctly. Those two things are training and scouting. Just curious how everyone handles these two aspects of their franchise. Armor thank you for your work on your sliders, absolutely having a blast!!

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Now that the rosters are out I’m going to start my franchise. Question for people, do most of you start the year with no injuries or do you mirror the real life? I have always started the year with no injuries but considering maybe injuring the players that are out all of 2019. Or like injuring a player like Severino for the first month. I would have to agree with FunkyCorn. When you start to try and make everything exactly like real life, you will never be satisfied with your franchise. Trust me when I say I've wasted hours of time with stupid things like that only to forget something so minute but I would have to constantly start over. Just my two cents.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Just got home from a awesome trip to see my sis in Michigan. For our birthday I treated her to the Indians @ Detroit game.
Your sliders were awesome and Cleveland played great. They play so realistic it was like I was watching MLBTS [emoji16]
We even got on tv a few times. That was really cool. That's me in the white jersey. The seats were just awesome.
Just wanted to share.

And for scouting, at the beginning of the franchise, I hire the best (most expensive) scout for each region, and I put the actual process of scouting players on auto. Has always worked well for me and when the draft comes there are plenty of players to choose from that have been scouted by my scouts. I always get multiple players with 80's or better potential and usually no players under 70 potential.
One thing I'd say to look out for is to just check in once or twice between Opening Day and the draft to ensure that all positions are being scouted, which they usually are, and manually intervene if necessary. Rarely, if I don't check, I've ended up with NO starting pitchers scouted, or a bunch of relievers or closers. Just make sure your guys are scouting both pitchers and all positions.
Now that the rosters are out I’m going to start my franchise. Question for people, do most of you start the year with no injuries or do you mirror the real life? I have always started the year with no injuries but considering maybe injuring the players that are out all of 2019. Or like injuring a player like Severino for the first month. Thoughts?
Turn injuries to manual one time at the beginning of Spring Training and manually injure all guys that had pre-existing injuries. I'll do all injuries that occurred before the real life start date of my franchise, AKA before players reported to camp in real life.
For example with the Yankees: Jordan Montgomery had Tommy John last June and will miss most of this season, Didi had elbow surgery right after the season, Ellsbury's many miscellaneous injuries, Ben Heller had Tommy John last April, CC Sabathia had knee surgery early in the offseason. So I'll manually injure all these guys and have realistic return dates for them throughout the season, whereas I'll start with currently injured guys, Hicks, Stanton, Severino, Betances, Sanchez, Andujar, all healthy.
One reason I do it this way is for practical roster purposes such as Didi and Tulowitzki. Tulo is on the Yankees roster, but he wouldn't be if Didi was never injured. So how do you justify having Tulo on the roster if Didi is healthy? Would I just release him out of the gate? Creates unneeded headaches. He was their Opening Day shortstop so that's an example of one of the reasons I'll manually injure these other guys.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I wasn’t saying that pressing down helps with home runs, only that I’ve hit them using that method also. I think you should always use some type of influence when hitting. Usually with pull hitters I pull the stick to the left or right. IF you’re not using the stick I advise you too
Check this clip for what I think is a textbook example of the drive swing. Power is certainly possible, but the timing of the bat hitting ball is even more crucial than with the typical uppercut. Reggie actually swings down on the ball until the last possible micro second.
I agree that you probably won't hit more homers with the stick down, and I wouldn't use it regularly with true power hitters. Jorge Polanco has been my prototype down-stick hitter in my Twins franchise. He has 4 homers through the first six weeks of the season. Not a big number by any stretch, but they've all come on down-stick swings. He also has a ton of doubles.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I'm really struggling with the directional approach (I average around 3-5 hits a game). I also feel like I make solid contact, but its always right at someone, or the CPU has just enough time to get under it. Anyone have any tips?Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Example:
FB = X
CH = O
SL = Triangle
2SFB = Square
KNCV = R1
This also correlates to the catchers fingers. 1 finger = X, 2 fingers = O ... etc ... and 4 fingers wiggled = R1Comment
