Well the Rockies suck so I made them an offer for Cole which was accepted. Rockies receive Zach Eflin (SP - B POT), J.P. Crawford (SS - A POT), and Dylan Cozens (RF - A POT) for Gerrit Cole.

A few weeks prior in the season the Mariners actually had Crawford on waivers so I claimed him with the purpose of using him in a potential deadline deal.

Cole will be a free agent at the end of the season but I will definitely be looking to lock him up to an extension now that I have him for the remainder of 2019. One less offseason task to worry about.

With Aaron Nola on the IL, the Phillies starting rotation now consists of 5 pitchers that were not in the opening day rotation. Jake Arrieta, Vince Velasquez, Jerad Eickhoff, and Zach Eflin were traded, and Cole Irvin and Nick Pivetta have been up and down. Shows how in flux it has been this season. I don't anticipate any further moves at this point as I have already made a few over the course of the season. Here is how my team stands for the rest of the season barring injuries.

    Rotation:

    1. RHP Gerrit Cole
    2. LHP Dallas Keuchel
    3. RHP Danny Salazar
    4. LHP Cole Hamels
    5. RHP Adonis Medina (will be optioned once Nola returns)

    Bullpen:

    LHP Aaron Bummer
    LHP Tony Watson
    RHP Victor Arano
    RHP Hector Neris
    RHP Seranthony Dominguez
    RHP Tommy Hunter
    RHP David Robertson

    Starting Lineup:

    1. Andrew McCutchen - LF
    2. Jean Segura - SS
    3. Bryce Harper - RF
    4. Rhys Hoskins - 1B
    5. J.T. Realmuto - C
    6. Odubel Herrera - CF
    7. Cesar Hernandez - 2B
    8. Maikel Franco - 3B

    Bench:

    1. Scott Kingery (INF)
    2. Nick Williams (OF)
    3. Neil Walker (INF)
    4. Roman Quinn (OF)
    5. Kevan Smith (C)

At work so I don't remember off the top of my head. Very average. ERA over 5 I think. Post it tonight. Probably letting him walk in the offseason.

So Cole Hamels is 7-8 in 20 starts with an ERA of 5.25. 108 innings pitched, 107 strikeouts, 29 walks, 125 hits allowed, and 18 home runs allowed.

So we were able to extend Gerrit Cole to prevent him from becoming a free agent. 5 year deal that will pay him $130.5M through age 33.

          The contract is back loaded.

          2020 - $19.5M
          2021 - $22.8M
          2022 - $26.1M
          2023 - $29.4M
          2024 - $32.7M

Yeah thanks for posting his numbers . I'm just curious to know what guys do with older players that are having great seasons , for example Zach Greinke is having a great season with the Astros , he is 10-2 with a Era in the low 2's and allowing on average 5 hits per 9 , but naturally his stats are dropping drastically in the game . He is only 82 rated and his best stat is at 68 which is hr per 9. So my question is do guys look at players like him and edit his stats back up if the older player is having a great season ? I'm just really tempted to bring his stats up in the edit menu .

I will say, I never ever for any reason edit ratings. They are what they are. From beginning to end. I drafted a B pot infielder but missed his high injury (38 I believe) and he has had good numbers in the minors but has yet to be healthy a full season. So is it fair for me to manipulate his injury just so he doesn't get hurt. To me, that's cheating. To each their own. It's everyone's own franchise universe to do as they wish. That's just my $.02 on it.
Just to add, he's having a good season with ratings as they are, why change it.
Really wish sports games played to ratings!

I'm not editing him. Just leaving him be. His performance this season makes my decision to let him walk as a FA that much easier. I need him now though because he is better than some other options and some of my young guys aren't ready.

I did draft a second baseman named Ken Stewart in the 2019 draft that I am really excited about. He's 21 and he could be ready real quick. His potential can be a 91 and he is already at 74 when drafted. His attributes look fantastic. I plan to start him in AA in 2020 but could easily see him being a real fast mover.

I'm still deciding what I want to do with Cesar Hernandez when the season ends. He is eligible for Arbitration one last time but I don't know if I want to pay him. Running into an issue because Scott Kingery really hasn't been great for me. I may just keep Kingery as a super utility guy. Not sure. Will be an interesting offseason for me. Can't wait to get there. Still will be sometime though. Only at the end of July and I play every game.

I have an opportunity to get out of Evan Longoria's bad contract and acquire a legit cleanup hitter. Longo has been in that lineup spot for me and has been miserable at .234 6hrs 20rbi through 59 games. We have fallen to 28-31 after being swept in consecutive series. The Twins will give up Max Kepler for Longo, "A" Steven Duggar and "B" Andrew Suarez. This could potentially save my season and can certainly turn the direction of my franchise around. What are your thoughts guys?

Yes they are. So I pulled off a three-team deal that makes sense for all sides.

Giant's get: Max Kepler, "D" RHP Preston Guilmet and "D" OF Ramon Flores

Rays get: 3B Evan Longoria and "B" LHP Andrew Suarez

Twins get: RHP Charlie Morton, "A" OF Steven Duggar and "B" RHP Burch Smith.

The Rays had a hole at 3B after Yandy Diaz went down with an injury and get a promising young pitcher who will act as their swing man this year. Morton's departure opens an opportunity for top prospect Brendan McKay to impact the rotation. While Longo returns to his beloved Rays after 1 and a half tough years as a Giant.

The Twins get a bona fide starter to strengthen a top-heavy rotation, a capable outfield prospect who will fill in for an injured Byron Buxton and hopefully develop into a 5-tool player. Burch Smith gives the thin bullpen another option.

The Giant's get their cleanup hitter whose left-handed bat plays well at Oracle Park and should be a cornerstone for years to come. Both minor league players are basically throw-ins to make budgets work.

                          Excitement abounds!

No but it's a video game. I had to stretch it a little. I've got to make the Giant's better as my team it's my first priority. Maintaining realism is just behind that.

Basically in my storyline Morton was their 3rd best pitcher who they gave up to fill a need at 3rd while bringing back a franchise icon and acquiring a controllable arm. Maybe I'll send them another prospect in a one-sided deal for their benefit later on.

Seriuosly what kind of bull**** is this ... 9 inning closing out the game with Giles , I have a 3-2 lead and it's 2 out when this **** happens .Ball hits the wall and just vanishes thru it and gets called a home run ... Nearly broke my chair in a rage
